Recently - there was a video leaked on Youtube of Wahab Riaz's snapchat. It included several players mocking Umar Akmal and Shane.

<div id="selectorElement" style="width:560px;height:330px;">
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/srT72qYiOpQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
<script data-cfasync="false" id="EboundAd" type="text/javascript" src="//eboundservices.com/ads/ads.js" width="560px" height="330px"></script>
</div>

Let me summarize what I saw as breaches of discipline:

1. Wahab
This guy was clearly the ring leader and was seen giving sarcastic and condescending comments towards everyone and instigating discussion about Umar Akmal and the physio.

2. M. Hafeez
Wahab had asked Hafeez to give a message to his fans which he does. However, Wahab asks him to say something new to which Hafeez points at Kamran Akmal and says "woh reeh nahi jeez" and they both burst out laughing. It makes me blood boil that this guy points at Kamran Akmal for his inclusion yet his own performance and fitness is mediocre yet somehow finds his way into the national team.

3. Imad Wasim
The video then shifts to the lounge where Wahab asks everyone to give their opinion about Shane again mocking and laughing at everyone around him. To this - Imad says Shane is good for nothing and says he does everything wrong. He then gives Shane two thumbs up to pretend he said something nice since Shane cannot understand Urdu

4. M. Nawaz
Wahab then asks Nawaz about Shane to which Nawaz says he is slow and always two minutes behind. This also makes my blood boil since this guy cannot bat or bowl yet is mocking his fitness trainer

5. Shoaib Malik
This was the worst IMO after Wahab's attitude. Regarding Shane - Malik says he still doesn't if he is "into guys or girls" Then Malik brings up the topic of "louis Vutton" colors and says "sadly he is not around" and "misses the guy" clearly in a sarcastic and mocking tone. Wahab seems to be enjoy his and bugs him to reveal who it is after which Shehzad says it is "for sure Umar Akmal - I know you guys. Very bad...."

6. Shehzad and Babar
Whilst these two tried to say positive things about Shane - they were clearly also laughing and enjoying the whole thing so they are also guilty IMO.

Whilst this is not the end of the world and nowhere near as bad as other problems we have had - mocking your trainer and a player who is out of the side and behind his back is unacceptable IMO. This shows a clique culture and indiscipline behind the scenes.

Hence, I would recommend banning these players for the 2017 CT to send a message that indiscipline will not be tolerated.

Haven't seen the video, because I don't care about this (and I don't really know what Snapchat is) but based on OP:

Nothing disrespectful about this at all.

3. Imad Wasim

We're not privy to what happens in the dressing room, these guys could be morons who think it's a good idea to talk trash about backroom staff in public or it could just be harmless banter that the physio is in on.

This is the only bit I have a problem with for two reasons:

1) None of Malik's business whether someone is gay or not and I find joking about this kind of thing to be distasteful.

2) Umar Akmal's Twitter fashion show is a shining light in the bland, sanitised world of cricket twitter accounts and we should embrace his lunacy and complete lack of any fashion sense, not ridicule it.

A fine would suffice. Let's not ban our entire team from the tournament we barely managed to qualify for. Thanks. Good to see Amir and Sarfaraz staying away from the jokers.

Oh god!
Misbah gentleman mentality is rampant here on PP.
Give these guys a break. All athletes are like this.
It was quite funny. I would've done the same with my friends. I mean, who wouldn't make fun of Shane?
That's just me because I am not oldie like most of you and a youngsta beauty.
:shezzy

Haven't even seen the vid, but I can tell from what's being said that it's most likely a joke... Chill

This type of stuff is very common in the dressing room.

Anyone who has played team sports knows this. Political correctness goes out the window.

Perhaps bringing it out onto Snapchat was a mistake. As you can see, people take stuff way out of context!

whats wrong with it? u havent ever played any sports or been with 'friends' this is normal stuff and let them enjoy.

Lol the physio was laughing with the guys as well.

Some friendly banter, nothing else.

But I'm sure Jr. Akmal won't be happy :))

Bhai they are human beings and have a long flight ahead. They are just passing the time by cracking jokes. You want them to be robots and just sit there minding their own business?

Making a mountain out of a molehill.

I get that but it seemed like Shane was oblivious as to what was going on - he not in on it?

Of course it's a joke; But it's hard for people who aren't youngsta beauties like us to understand.

My issue is making fun of someone who cannot understand Urdu and talking behind someone's back like that.

If they were talking about each other - then that would have been different.

Its fun and games when your on the majority side but not when in Umar Akmal's position IMO.

Maybe a ban is too harsh but a heavy fine should be in order.

Op your blood bouls quite easily, where do you normally watch matches sitting in your fridge coz what they do on the pitch is usually a lot worse

For example the comment about Malik's backpack and Kamran Akmal always being on Snapchat is in good taste since they are directly talking to the person they are referring to.

However, making fun of Umar Akmal behind his back in a no no IMO.

:)))

Forget about what I said before, this was hilarious and they were all having a lot of fun. Loved the last bit with Shehzad mocking Hafeez mocking Razzaq. Riaz, Shehzad and Malik are the clowns. Imad, Babar and Nawaz are pretty sensible. Sarfaraz clearly doesn't want to do anything that could remotely get him into trouble. "Abey rehney dey" :))

Pretty sure Umar has been mocked for his fashion sense when he was with them too. Plus, he's Umar Akmal, he won't care.

Yes it is funny and I admit to chucking at it too. However, from Umar Akmal's perspective it is dissappointing and he would take issue with this video.

No as I have explained above - there are certain parts of this video that I have a problem with.

Of course everyone wants to have a good time and enjoy themselves to chill out but they should be aware of certain boundaries too.

In hindsight maybe a ban is too harsh but I still they should be fined.

I don't find anything serious here - more or less in every club the physio gets the biggest stick in social gatherings, because he doesn't allow them to eat, drink & roam around late night at will. Also, for any fitness or weight issue, Arthur is going to ask Shane ...... Besides, I am sure he understands body language (if not workable Urdu) & he is well aware that they are not praising his pro skills here.

It's actually nice to see that (I haven't seen more than 30 sec.) that players are breaking age & seniority bracket. It's just fun, can be part of a team building exercise as well - no issues, as long as it gets personal & someone is targeted.

The entire team are a bunch of jokers. Kamran Akmal is the ring leader, no doubt about it. His negative attitude is contagious whenever he is recalled in to the side things begin to happen.

Seems to me like Umar Akmal was targeted - that is the biggest issue I have with this video.

I a little bit of targeting can save his career, it's good for him.

I haven't seen the video, but I think there is a serious issue regarding Umar in the squad - if Kamran can pass the test, no way Umar will fail it, I simply can't see that, considering that multiple chances were given to unfit players. Not saying it's right, but Jr. Akmal deserves a bit taunt as well - so far, the whole world had been at the receiving end of his complains.

Depends on how well he takes it - if it indeed motivates him then good but otherwise he may throw another tantrum like he did in the 2015 WC and drift further away from the national team.

Which will be good for the side.

They're just mocking his fashion sense. Friends do that all the time. If it was something serious like insulting his integrity or family then it would be crossing the line.

hahaha.

On a serious note - I would rather Umar Akmal be dropped for legit reasons like poor performances or lack of fitness rather than have to deal with this dramaybaazi on Snapchat.

Yes - they are all friends and deserve to relax and enjoy themselves but posting content like this for everyone to see if treading a fine line.

Another one of OP's threads :))

I watched both videos, anyone who has played any sports at any level knows this is just normal banter. Anyone who has had a group of friends know worse things are said in jokes. The physio etc everyone was laughing along. Nothing in the video whatsoever much less banning players.

The only thing wrong with it is that is was posted in snapchat. As I think they are banned from posting on social media during a series.

Don't understand what's the big issue here that makes your blood boil. Such banter is common among players. Shoaib Akhter once said Razzaq used to be the piñata everybody in the team took a wack at during Wasim's captaincy.

If anything, such banter creates a more friendly and laid-back environment among players.

These guys have a running joke with the physio. Have seen a lot of wahabs previous Snapchat videos with the two pranking each other. No big deal

Nothing to see here. The OP is clearly a sjw who has a very high blood temperature for it boiled so easily. Let the boys be boys and pick another topic to vent about.

Stop being such an annoying uncle who nobody likes. I would much rather have this sort of a team where there'll all involved in a lot of friendly banter, jokes and positive energy. With the coaching staff too. Pakistan dressing room has been plagued with rivalries and politics and this is very good.

I think, it's done purposefully - Arthur is trying to bring this team out of the culture that gives you lot of privilege to be born few years earlier. Also, players are taunting on harmless issues that doesn't get personal.

Long back, in English football, once a young centre back scored 3/4 own goals. After season, he got married & his team mates gave them a set of different types of compass to him & a set of surveryer's plotter to his wife..... as wedding gift.

Only thing that I didn't like is that they are driinking water in a pop bottle (obviously these players won't drink coke or sprite in regular season 👍)

All harmless.

Haha it was just harmless fun Lol shehzad mimicking hafeez ROFL

Having fun,no discipline issue.

typical Pakistani over reaction from the OP

I don't think it is anything to worry about

My views are pretty clear.

As explained above - there is nothing wrong with having fun and banter amongst team mates and they deserve to relax and have fun.

However, I take issue with making fun of a teammates behind his back who clearly struggling and needs help - no point kicking him down further. Also - I highly doubt Shane has any idea what is going on since he cannot understand urdu.

He can at some level, he's been with the team for a while. These jokes are common, haven't any of your friends ever called anyone gay as a joke?

As for Umar, they seem to get along well Kamran. Babar was there too and took it in his stride.

The only thin skinned person here is you. Ridiculous thread.

the only worrying this here is that Riaz (unsurprisingly) was dumb enough to put this on social media, so that our vulture like media can make a story

How do you know that? Umar could have been fuming at this video...

There is a time and place for everything - making fun and jokes about someone who is clearly struggling right now and needs professional help is uncalled for. Thats why Yk and Afridi were criticized for laughing and hugging after the 2015 WC defeat to Australia - nothing wrong with their actions in isolation but the wrong time and place to behave like that.

Taking this video on Snapchat and releasing it for everyone to see should not have been done - conversation between friends should be kept private...

And Umar could not have been fuming. If they were saying it maliciously they wouldn't have said it infront of his cousin or with his brother around.

You're simply creating sensationalist threads.
