What's new

Shadab Khan - Excellent bowler! Good batsman! Splendid fielder! Calm under pressure!

Big find this lad, really BIG find. More than his batting, bowling and fielding the most unPakistani thing about this kid is delivering when it matters. Great find.

Needs to start batting higher up the order. Can't believe this genius is only 19.

Brilliant talent. His calmness and composure under pressure is the sign of him being a special player

This man will be a superstar around the world one day. I’ve said this from day one.

I really hope the success doesn’t get to his head though.

I hope he can play for atleast 15, 16 years without any controversy or any big injury. He has the ability to become something big

What a player. Talented enough to bat, bowl and field exceptionally. Hit a great six under pressure and then had the smartness to softly push the bowl down the ground and run 2 to win the game. There have been many talented batsmen (U.Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanveer) in the past few years who would have blindly tried to hit the ball hard to win the match instead of playing sensible risk free cricket to get the final 2 runs. Great time for Pakistan cricket.

Hopefully he continues to work hard and in a couple of years becomes a genuine allrounder and finisher.

On second thought, maybe he already is a finisher!

The real find of PSL.

He should keep on working hard on his game and we will continue to see him in the decades to come.

And the coach and chief selector for identifying the talent and persisting with him...

Actually he gate crashed his way into the side after the PSL season he had, but sure if you wanna give credit to your favourites then go for it.

Shadab and Hasan ali are the heart and soul of this lineup .
The youngsters make the team so watchable.

Tera mera aik he yaar

Shadab Khan! Shadab Khan!

Yes I just came up with that on my own

Always in favor of shaddy batting before Sarfi in ODIs/t20s. His maturity level is great. The 2 runs he took in end was amazing game awarness..

His attitude will decide him for becoming either good or world class. Potential wise a superstar in the making. Havent been this excited about anyone after Sarfraz, Babar and Haris as Shadab.

Actually, he needs about 6 more years in domestics to get the proper experience - in the mean time PAK has enough experienced, well aged players to serve.

No 10 years is enough. Only then can you be fast tracked into the national side.

Should be batting in the top six in T20s. Definitely got the batting talent.

Trust me, for last couple of weeks, I really got scared with Aizaz Cheema's QEA figures .............

Why? Misbah & Qasim took Tanvir Ahmed to SAF at similar age and his figures were not even close to this ..... I told you many times - it's good fortune for Hasan, Shadab & Babar that .........

I think, SK's big break was the A tour in ZIM - against almost a full ZIM side, scored a hundred and took probably 9 wickets in same match. This is why A tours are so important.

Brilliant player.

Perfect modern day cricketer and only 19. He could end up having a 15+ year career with the right mindset.

There was supposed to be an A tour of Zimbabwe this year also (this month probably) but it was cancelled. :(

Yes and also the one 4 dqy match against england lions where he scored 160 odd runs at SR of more than 100 and took 10 wickets.

And that BCB development squad tour .... I was waiting for that big time, because 3/4 of our kids would have been in that team I am extremely interested.

Exactly.

Thank you Islamabad united and the talent scouts there.

Should be batting in the top six in T20s. Definitely got the batting talent.

Ideally he should concentrate on his bwoling and consider himself as bowling all rounder. I think he should not be promoted above number 7 max in future.

But if he can play among the top six batsmen without compromising his bowing only then its acceptable.

Should be batting above Imad Wasim and Fahim Dev.

While Imad has been a consistent failure, faheem deserves a decent chance to show off his batting skills before making the decision. I think for now shadab should come after faheem while Imad is told to rest.

Have you noticed how he has a very good technique as well? Apart from being just a handy lower order batsman who can play quickly, he also has a very solid technique, evident from his six. He makes smooth strokes and is balanced on the crease.

Considering he's only 19, he could very well become a good batsman for Pakistan.

Not surprised. He often used to bat at one-down for the u19 side. We are not properly utilizing his batting talent.

I was pretty disappointed during the draft as no one selected after such great performance against England lions team him but Islamabad united got him in supplementary pick.

But I guess we need his bowling more. To become a top order batsman he might have to compromise his bowling

That is true, I'm just pointing out that we have something to work with when it comes to his batting. His primary focus should remain his bowling.

Do you mean the 132 and 9 wickets against Zimbabwe? Don't think he's faced England Lions :13:

He shouldn't try to be.

Do you think he has the personality to bat for 6 hours? This was the biggest mistake with Afridi - chose the wrong option.

I am afraid, trying to become "a top order batsman" will confuse him. His batting should be impactful, it's his bowling that's the key here.

I give 2 propositions (Test & ODI) -
Test: A: Batting average 48, bowling average 58. B: Batting average 29, bowling average 29
ODI: A: Batting stats 40+/85, bowling average in between 35-38. B: Batting stats 29+/100, bowling average 29

Think which is more valuable, which is more rational and which is closer to his talent. You can't make a 50 average batsman if he isn't mentally fit to do so.

He should look to play lots of FC matches where he can bowl 35+ overs in 2nd innings and PCB can force his FC team to put him at No. 4/5 while batting.

He can be a very good cricketer in batting route, or an ATG in the bowling all-rounder's route.

Nerves of steel this lad.

Tremendous cricketer with such a bright future.

I just hope he stays on the right path.

Great cricketer, hopefully keeps his hormones in check, some girl posted his dm few days ago, nothing serious though

The last sentence right there is very important, we have seen a few of our talents ruining promising careers, should stay far away from bookies and drugs especially.

think Shadab's done enough to move ahead of Imad in the batting order. Bats with a lot of authority which is strange for someone who's primarily a bowler.

I like these young guns. They look confident. Instead of thanking all the team management from the captain to the masseur they engage Ramiz in a better way.
I was listening to post match conference and liked his humorous conversation with Ramiz. I was laughing when he said joyfully that he had recited all the daroods and prayers before hitting that six and was just lucky to hit that crucial 6.

Also watched Usman's interview with Ramiz and Waqar, he is also a jolly fellow. :))

Thank you Misbah for unearthing this gem!!! What an eye for the truly talented

He had nerves and brain to play with soft hands after hitting monsters six, very UnPakistani like...We had seen guys Afridi’s and Akmals, Can somebody check if he really is a Pakistani ? 😉

He can bowl from 75 clicks to 120, Showing nerve of steels in batting, Not to mention probably one of the best fielder we have ever seen in green colors.

I remember you, me and a few others were saying from the start that he is a proper allrounder unlike the pretender Afridi...

it was not misbah who unearthed him,if it was not that emerging players quota he would have been on the bench like babr and hussain talalt.

Every youngster we try looks a million dollars compared to the TTF's we persist with. I know selection is not that simple but in T20 just make it a team full of hungry and talented young cricketers and we can form a decent side eventually.

Easy to see his value in the Team !!!! I think we should include him in every Format from this day on !!!!!

There's an old story I think written by Al-Ghazali that says if you see a lion and a woman in the jungle, go to the lion. You'll be eaten but you won't lose your Iman. Hope Shaddy keeps performing and has the right mentors to stay away from trouble that is looking for him at 19 years old.

I was so impressed with that last shot he played today, the two runs which won the match. Not many young batsmen would have been so level-headed in that situation.

Do you mean the 132 and 9 wickets against Zimbabwe? Don't think he's faced England Lions :13:

Appologies as the performance I was referring to came against Zimbabwe A.

However his career fast tracking tour I was trying to emphasise up one was of England in around July 2016 time when he was still just 16, 17 and someone did an excellent job of selecting him where he was impressive against Srilanka A in a an unofficial test match played in England and played few unofficial ODI's against England Lions and Srilanka A and became someone to look forward to at that point of time.

Then in October came that extraordinary performance againsg Zimbabwe where he scored his maiden first class century and took 9 wickets.

I was expecting him to be selected as emerging player by one of the teams as a hot commodity at the very start, unfortunately it didnt happen but atleast ISB united got him as emerging in their supplementary pick.

Exactly I was afraid that rush of blood might force him to play another big shot.

with the same energy he could do much more for Pakistan. Excellent talent. Good work by Inzi.

Actually, he needs about 6 more years in domestics to get the proper experience - in the mean time PAK has enough experienced, well aged players to serve.

MISBAH is very experienced, how many matches was he able to finish, yes obviously will drag the team close to win or save from a embarrasing loss.. but lost is lost and win is a win. How many finishers does pak had in the past who can finish the match on their own.. Except RAZZAQ no one of them did it consistently... Shadab is developing into a good one for the future, Pak lost Hammad who was as good as Shadab not nurtured and backed properly...

Good suggest. Make T20I a format where we consistently try out new players and combinations. T20Is is the most irrelevant format anyway.

I would like to him bat up the order for a change, and see how he does.

Performances against teams like Sri Lanka have to be taken with a grain of salt.

Sure, why not.

Still remember a pressure situation is a pressure situation no matter who the opposition is. When the whole team is struggling to hit boundaries and you hit a six on the 3rd last ball of the match and see the team home then that's something special.
