Shadab Khan - Excellent bowler! Good batsman! Splendid fielder! Calm under pressure!

I think he should be kept away from Test cricket for now.

I disagree with that, test cricket is still best place to learn temperament and improve your technique both bowling and batting...You are challanged at different level in test...

Pakistan used to through teenagers in test, Wasim, Waqar, Mushi and many others are example of those cricketers. Shadab did not do bad at all in first test, couple of his spells were mesmerizing in first innings, even better than Yasir, because he actually spins the ball both ways... I am disappointed at management, they showed very little patient with Shadab in test. If he was playing in two test against SL, we would have won both, they would not have scored 450 runs in first innings of both test....

I was so impressed with that last shot he played today, the two runs which won the match. Not many young batsmen would have been so level-headed in that situation.

Good point - the last shot was a sign of a smart cricketer and one that is calm under pressure. Picked his spot to get an easy 2 in the end, which was all that was needed.

I don't think he has the right attributes for Test cricket yet and by playing him in Tests we may lose his skills in limited-overs cricket.

Excellent point and this goes back to the point people have made about his great temperament and maturity.

He's such a special talent.

Sincerely hope the management invest in his batting and actually give him opportunities to bat up the order.

This is a wrong trend lately in Asia, top tier talent must play test cricket. We are already playing second tier fast bowlers in test, Imran/Rabat/Abbas etc non of them were fast bowlers and cannot play limited over cricket because of their limited skillset, we are at a point where 80% of the test team is not suitable for LOIs, not just that but mostly limited to play in Asian conditions...Part of the reason is we are playing too limited players in test, its almost like a forced labor, skill is secondary, they just want to put 11 on the field who can take the heat, battling heat is the main challenge ;-)

SL and WI has done that too, look where they are, Pakistan under Misbah has mostly done that... Future of Test Cricket is bleak if top talent does not play test cricket...

I actually agree - keep him away from Tests until he has played enough first class games.

Let him learn and have fun in the limited over formats where he is excelling. You don't want to overburden him.

I think he should play tests in the UAE as the 2nd spinner since his batting is pretty good as well. Pakistani cricketers have always done better when introduced at a young age. Saqlain Mushtaq was only 18/19 when he made his debut in tests. So why not Shadab?

2 leg spinners is overkill I feel. Would rather someone like Raza Hasan partner Yasir Shah.

Looks like Micky is learning that instead of darters, it’s the genuine spinners that make the game in middle overs.

Shadab is an absolute star. A real match winner in all three facets of the game. Masha Allah, he's so smart and mature as a bowler and batsman. The only current Pakistani worthy of the all genuine all-rounder tag.
Go great shadi.

Average player. Needs to be dropped. This is what happens when someone performs in a few PSL matches and becomes one of the first names on the teamsheet on the basis of those performances.

he is miles better then imad.

Shadab showing how PSL heroes are overhyped and then fall in no time

I think he has not fully recovered from Injury. However, after being around for almost 2 years we can see that he is well short of where a good legspinner needs to be.

He has to maintain control and bowl tight. this is paramount. Time and time again you see him bowling too many varieties when he would be better just landing on a spot and working on his drift, dip and big leg break. He bowls all over the place and should be nowhere near the test team and I have concerns about his ODI bowling also. Perhaps T20 is ok for him.

Incredibly overrated. Poor in all departments, but I suppose that is okay as long as he is diving around in the field like a dolphin.

A spinner of his quality would barely get into a Ranji team, and with the bat, he is a glorified tail-ender. What all-rounder? He is the definition of a bits and pieces player.

Agree with this. He has loads of variety and is a genuine spinner, but lacks control. A leggie who has less variety but can put each ball on the spot is more useful in longer versions of the game.

Yes and just as we write gets an lbw with a lovely flighted delivery. I think his back is weak/injured otherwise he would use his lower body more. Nevertheless just stop experimenting and work on control and change of speed/flight and drift. World class batsmen can read his varieties quite easily. What they struggle with is slow flighted deliveries with drift and dip and he’s easily good enough to do this.

No idea who told him to slow down, he should get back to bowling 95kph turning leggies, he will be a different bowler.

Agreed. I think he has lower back issues and i believe he strained his groin as well.

Getting found out a bit at the moment.

Another who needs to knuckle down, get back to basics and focus on his cricket.

That was the worst ODI innings I’ve seen in a while. Awful.

The likes of Shadab, Hasan Ali, Faheem and Fakhar has been hyped up too much.

Never the less Shadab is facing crisis right now. I am sure he will comeback.

Came back well today when others would have crumbled.

NZ were after him, but he's such a clever and calm bowler that he had the last laugh.

Something has changed in his bowling. He used to get his leg break to turn a lot more. I dunno know it appears he is carrying a niggle.

Well bowled today. I actually really want to see him come up the order with the bat. I think there's massive potential with the bat with him.

I think the injury still affects him but he is a terrific bowler and a handy bat. Still the most talented young cricketer on the planet.

He has the potential to fill the void left by Saeed Ajmal.
