He has invited - Imran Khan, Misbah ul Haq, Younus Khan, Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Zaheer Abbas, Wasim Bari, Shoaib Akhtar, Aamir Sohail, Javed Miandad, Rashid Latif, Ramiz Raja, Moin Khan, Abdul Qadir, Aaqib Javed, Iqbal Qasim, Bazid Khan, Saeed Ajmal and several others.

Why not invite a man who has played 523 matches for his country to the table for his thoughts and ideas?

Well given the riot that will ensue with all of the above at one table - Afridi should consider himself lucky to be away from all of this

not just Afridi, why has Ajmal been invited over the likes of Saqi, Yousaf, Razzaq etc?

He should be invited. I know many will say that he's got nothing to add to meeting for many reasons but he's played 500+ matches for Pakistan so he clearly knows a lot about Pakistan cricket.

Honestly all they needed to do was invite Wasim, Waqar, Imran (if he is available), Inzi, Saeed Anwar, Saqlain and Rashid Latif. These are the people who know whats wrong in our domestics and perhaps what needs to be done to fix it. Too many people shouting away will not result in anything productive.

Personally I feel no current player should have been invited (that rules out YK and Misbah)

The only cricketer from Pakistan known for power hitting and modern day cricket is not invited.

Yep.

That's the only thing you can expect from this conference -- demanding us to go to the 80s era batting from the 90s.

Yes let's entrust a man who didn't have the brains to avoid chewing on a cricket ball with the task of reviving our domestic cricket.

Mazid khan should have been there along with Mushi (Md.) & Asif Iqbal. Not sure if Imran will join the chorus ......

You answered your own question. You need someone capable of coherent thought in order to form an idea.

Why does the Chairman of the Board need to speak with twenty ex players to find out what is wrong with the system and what should be done to correct???

They are not much into cricket these days. Although these are the few Pakistani players who have carried themselves with utmost grace on and off the field.

All 3 have played in County for best part of 2 decades - they do know what is a quality FC system. How to prepare players for highest level & groom youngsters. I am sure these people can give directions on fixing the domestic system which is at mess now. Younger project managers/players can find a way to implement the concept in current context. I'll be more than comfortable if these 3 replicates what was English County model in 1970s - that's the technical staff; younger business people can work to find funding, sponsors & sell the domestic game to mass market.

There is no conceptual difference between WSC in 70s & PL/SL now, therefore I don't think one needs to be in the game for reengineering PAK domestics. These people has enough knowledge to cascade their experience in current context if they are empowered. And, these 3 are not primary graduate - they do have the academic background to lead such strategic projects, which people like Javed or Qadir lacks.

Wonder if any of them will tell the octogenarian chairman that perhaps the PCB could do with someone younger running things.

Because he and the people around him are incapable.

To be fair Afridi is not the smartest cookie around. He could barely analyse his own game to improve it so how can you expect him to do it for others.

It does not matter if he has played cricket in the modern era or not. Any half decent ex-cricketer and someone who is a good analyst can tell the difference between our domestic structure and others across the world and why we are lagging behind. You need people who can spot those and those who can find ways to fill those gaps quickly. For me Aamir Sohail and Bazid Khan are good people for this job. Some of the few who actually follow the domestic cricket. I think this table has too many advisors in the first place. Has the chairman never heard of the phrase "too many cooks spoil the broth"? Rather than anything good coming from this chairman saheb is gonna end up being more confused with so many different opinions. I will give marks for trying tho.

Who is Mazid Khan ? Is it a new youngster beauty ? Never heard of this name before ?

Afridi is not person you like to discuss furture plans. he ll not be helpful in that regard.

seems noone cares about MoYo here just like PCB, he should be there.

So he can spew out the bitterness inside him?

My mistake - it's Majid Khan.

Still if you don't know him, I can give a small introduction. He used to play a bit cricket. Born in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Started as medium pacer, through family contacts went to England tour in 1967, played couple of back foot drives against John Snow from no 8 & that was enough for Glamorgan to gave him a retainership contract - which ended in a 15 years career, with leading the county side & couple of years for Queensland when his 2 colleagues there were two gentleman names Vivian Richards & his opening partner - Barry Anderson Richards. In 70s, most experts will pick him as the opener of ODI team of that decade & he was picked as one of the openers of Packer circus. He is also one of 4 players that scored a Test hundred before lunch I. Day 1 & scorer of one of the best ever innings - 167 against WI to save a Test from 300+ deficit. In between, he was decent a student - had a masters from a British University at the small town of Cambridgeshire.

Finally, he comes from a decent family with his father being a doctorate from Cambridge in 1930s & a bar at law, who happened to play Test cricket for British India & MCC. And, he is the first cousin of a decent cricket all rounder who happens to be PAK's leader of opposition & possible future prime minister.

Don't see the problem in not inviting Lala. Lets face it, he is not a great cricketing brain that inviting him would be a necessity. His input to the discussion would be to try and hit a sixer of every ball. A great entertainer that he was no one will really take his views seriously. Overall this round table thing won't produce anything until safarishis are thrown out. Nepotism is the greatest problem in Pakistani Cricket, everyone knows that.

How do you expect anything coherent or useful from a meeting of about twenty people?
