It's not Warne it's Damien Fleming![]()
Oh. You sure??
Wasim Akram continues to be the guy to give me chuckles.
"Two boundaries..... Healthy for health."
Just heard him say Maxwell is like AB Devillers - wow really![]()
Unfortunately he has been Healified and the Ch 9 commentary team is indistinguishable from a baboon troupe during its mating season.
I'd say the Aussie commentators, including Warne, are the second best (After the English). They keep everything lively even during dull parts of the game.
Can't beat Wasim's epic WHADDASHOT!!! for unintentional guffaws.

Yep, best new comer is scot styris. But nasir hussain is best.Fleming can be quite insightful when discussing swing bowling. He is an acquired taste.
My favourite new comer to the commentary box in recent times is Styris. Knows his cricket, knows his cricketers, and remembers a lot of games from yesteryear.
What about Danny morrison ?
Most annoying commentator ever. I got no idea how people love this guy, he is so irritating.
Shane Warne always provides insight regarding the game which most commentators don't do. Not only he predicts what a captain, bowler, batsman is about to do, he explains the the intentions and he even criticize them. He is awesome to listen to. STOP HATING![]()
Don't know whether you guys get this, but the Hindi commentary on ESPN here in the States is hilariously, peppered with a lot of gems. Can enliven even the most boring match- especially considering the fact that the matches are in the middle of the night here. Shoaib Malik with his cheeky one-liners is funny like s***
you sure im yet to click on hindi commentary yet, im scared of sidhu and etc snoozefest
Warne no doubt is a very poor commentator and now that he has added these annoying noises to his repertoire he has become almost unbearable. Too bad Hussain didn't apologize to Srini mama otherwise he would have been here. Nasser is by far the best commie in the business, great voice, analytical and not shy to call it how be sees it.
1. Shane Warne
2. Nasser Hussain
3. Harsha
Nasser Hussain, seriously? I think he's pretty decent, including Harsha.
1. Athar Ali Khan
2. Shane Warne
3. Danny Morrison
I was listing them by quality, not by how bad they are![]()
Can't beat Wasim's epic WHADDASHOT!!! for unintentional guffaws.
Harsha is the worst by far, tries to hard to sound like something he isn't just get to the point. ian botham as well always sounds like he is sulking when England lose.
i actually think atherton and nick knight are 2 of the best commies on sky not forgetting Bumble. but they do have a good team barring botham, strauss
Still no as good as Waqar in his commentary days.
Commie: X player averages XX.
Waqar: Well I wouldn't go that far....
Ian Bishop is also good when it comes to technical aspects especially for fast bowling. It took him 9 bowls from Irfan during Pak v WI game to highlight flaws in his action that were not only affecting his line / length but also causing him hip injuries because he was not following through with his action. Granted Irfan might be doing so just because of his tender hip....Warne is excellent when commenting on the technical aspects of the game. I dont think it gets any better than that. Maybe Ian Chappell.
Athers and Bumble are pretty good as well.
Anyway, since you made me feel nostalgic, you will get a reward for that one:
"(Mahela) Jayawardene isn't playing. His wife has given birth to a baby girl" - Russel Arnold.
"That was an easy delivery..... " - Waqar Younis.
*He said this when they were showing the replay of the previous delivery. However, the timing made it sound very funny.*
Hahaha...Hilarious
What did he say?
Well, he's kinda right about how silly it is to limit the edge size on bats
Well, he's kinda right about how silly it is to limit the edge size on bats
If you’ve listened to the Big Bash League (BBL) commentary this summer, you’ll have heard Ricky Ponting cop plenty of stick for being part of a committee that ruled to regulate bat sizes.
Players’ bats are huge these days, characterised by massive edges, and there’s a push prevent them becoming any bigger so mis-hits don’t sail to or over the rope as happens so frequently these days.
But while you often hear complaints about bat manufacturers making their product too big and ruining the contest between bat and ball, how often do you hear about the other side of the coin?
Shane Warne says people should stop whingeing about bat sizes and more thought should go into what advances can be made when it comes to designing the ball to make cricket more even-handed.
“I bet you wouldn’t be talking about the big bats as much if we had more of a contest between bat and ball,” Warne said. “If the ball seamed and swung a bit more, if we made the grounds bigger, we would not be talking about the bats.
“Why are we not talking about the ball? We have never changed it for a long, long
time. The bats have changed, the pads have changed, the protective equipment have changed, why not the ball?
“If we did something to the ball, make it a harder or bigger seam, have some more grass on the pitches, make the grounds as big as they can possibly be ... then I don’t think the bat size becomes an issue.
“Why not make the seam bigger onto the ball? Why can’t we make the stitching bigger? Why can’t we make it do more?
“That means you take the whole of this silly chat about the size of the bat out of the equation.”
His rant came about when David Warner was going berserk in the second innings. He has one of the thickest bats in world cricket and monstered fours and sixes at will, racing to a half century off just 23 balls — the second fastest in Test history — before he was out for 55.

Why do you think that, yes w.r.t boundaries should be increased then i get it but if not its a valid argument?
The modern bat design with exaggerated scalloping to create larger edges means the sweet spot is larger but the ball doesn't go any further, it's a matter of physics. Middling it with a 2lb 7oz won't propel the ball further than when players in the 60's or 70's middled it with a bat that weighed more than 3lbs.
Look at the biggest sixes hit now, with these supposedly unfair bats and stronger players who train specifically to hit the ball as far as they can in T20s. If the ball was regularly being hit out of the stadium then people moaning about bats would have a point, but it's not.
The biggest six at the WACA is probably still this one from Mark Waugh:
and Albert Trott hit the ball over the Lords Pavilion over a century ago and nobody has repeated the feat since despite huge bats
People focussing on the bat sizes are barking up the wrong tree.
The moaning is more about edges going for six which imo is true, even for tailenders which didn't happen before and don't think the tailenders practice to hit the ball to third man six.
Middling is a diff issue and I agree on your logic.
