"Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam are pivotal to where we go with our One-Day team now" : Mickey Arthur

Watching Sharjeel and Babar partnership put a smile on my face.

A year ago we had no batters. Now we have Sharjeel and Babar.

If Haris come back just like how he was and Sarfraz hits top gear then we can have a world class batting unit. Just need to find some lower order hard hitters.

Time to call Afridi back? :91: :91: :91:

Try Fakhar Zaman at 6 because Shahzaib will open
with Sharjeel.

I know it looks like a solid batting lineup we can have this in lower order

7. Shadab Khan/aamer yamin
8. Imad Wasim
9. Amir
10. Hassan
11. Junaid

Believe it or not, there was a time when Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad were considered pivotal to the future success of our ODI team.

I used the names root smith and williamson because they aren't considered power hitters just like sarfaraz. But unlike sarfaraz, these guys can find boundaries regularly and make an impactful contribution while chasing mamoth totals.

I could have used the names of wicketkeepers like de kock, butler and dhoni etc but sarfaraz wouldn't have been able to hold a candle in front of them. These are power hitters who can score 20 ball 50s or 60 ball 100s which sarfaraz cant. Hence the comparison with batsmen like root, williamson and co. which looks more reasonable.

Does UA can, except Sharjeel no one could possibly even think of a 20 ball 50 in the current team... U set unbelievable targets for Sarfraz but at the same time if ur fav player makes a 30 ball 34 it is considered bradmanisque knock...last 12 months sarfraz has avg 57 at SR 92 and undoubtedly ur biased ...could be based on the region he comes from or the cheesy smile which he doesnt have...

T2o and one day teams young legs and strong arms. You cant load the team with 35 + yr old and expect them to keep with young ones. Karachi fast bowler ghulam mudassar should be given a chance in the team immediately. He will learn with the team at the international level. He has a pace and swing. He should be fast tracked into the two team and one day team for the west indies tour. That how pakistan operated be unpredictable. We have become too predictable. How can pakistan and pcb and inzamam expect to win with hafeez, azhar, asad, malik and rizwan. There are domestic teams and regional team in pakistan that have better batting order than pakistan team. We should have a challenger trophy with the national team facing pakistan a, pakistan under 23 and pakistan under 19 team

Yes, seniors have to go. Ghulam is too raw though. He is getting smashed even in domestic cricket.

And they had the talent, but had terrible attitude, i mean both were buddies of Afridi, what will you learn when ur role model happens to be a joker?

Is Ghulam going to get any better playing Domestic cricket? No.

Billy Stanlake was picked for Australia in the OD format after only playing six List-A games, did he do anything special in those six games? No he averaged a mediocre 30.

Stanlake was picked for the national team because the selectors thought he had potential and by playing against quality oppositions he'll only get better. The same can be applied to Mudassar.

Need to replace Azhar with a dynamic opener, Umar or Shazaib could be the answer sure they'll both do better than Azhar anyway. Hopefully Harris can get back to full fitness and we can slot him at 4. It's clear we are making some progress in LO formats, sharjeel is giving us some impetus at the start of the innings. Babar is proving to be a solid number 3. The bowling has been okay, the fielding has been awful and has made our bowlers figures even worse with fumbles and dropped catches. If we make the changes I mentioned, improve our fielding, and make Sarfraz the captain I think we'll become a very good LO team.

Interested to know if this fielding camp will have an impact or not. MMHS your thoughts on the camp?

Any such camp is good, if it's part of continuation. Otherwise, it's a time waste & a bit risky as well - because key players might aggravate soft tissue strains.

I think, more than these camps, what PCB needs an annual cycle of periodic sanity checking - wight, beep test, strength test, stamina & stress endurance testing ....... and make that part of central contract. That 'll be more effective in long term as players will be forced to maintain diet & off season gym.

I think, the way professional clubs in Europe & North America manages their fitness level has a clue on it. Dropping players is not a good idea (it doesn't help PAK if they are to drop Sharjeel on fitness) - what they do is, they hurt is where it pains most - in your pocket. I think, once Rooney had some issues with his Saturday night (before a Monday night match) - Sir Alex, didn't drop him from starting XI - BUT, he was fined 2 weeks of wage, that's over a quarter million British pound - just because he had few more beer than allowed.

Make like 50% of the central contract as part of fitness & that starts last month as bench-mark - which is, unless you are at least at per, you loose 50% of that months' salary. Of course the assessment has to be fair & just for every one .......

It wasn't meant to be mickey, just hope babar don't follow this path of shame and choose path of real fame.

Whatever it takes but Mickey has been able to maintain his impeccable record.....
