"Shehzad wants to make a comeback? Well, I can't pick him with no FC performance" : Inzamam

In a season where he was supposed to stake a claim for a return to the national team, Shehzad only bothered to play 2 FC games.

With scores of
21
0
52

Habib Bank had even appointed him captain in expectation that he will play majority of season

Inzi had this to say
"Someone like Ahmed Shehzad who wants to make a comeback - well, I can't pick him for his performance in Bangladesh. I will look at his performance in our FC cricket."

Shehzad has involuntarily said goodbye to his playing days.

Don't see a place for him in the side for the next two years atleast. Too many young kids with better talent are knocking on the door now. The Test opening partnership is doing well and Sharjeel has one spot locked down in ODIs. A case can be made for Azhar being a shoddy opener in ODIs however there are other better options than Shehzad to replace him.

I say it is good riddance from people like Shehzad who have zero performance but think of themselves as some sort of superstar.

Shehzad should concentrate on these mickey mouse leagues that is his level anyway. Besides his performance in the BPL has been hilariously bad as well.

Man this is just beating a dead horse. There's no pro Shehzad had lobby anymore the guy is history.

Only way this guy stakes a comeback is with immense media pressure like with YK in the 2015 WC.

Sooner we stop giving him attention the better.

I take this back. Just read his pathetic comments yet again attacking Inzi, so this was a reaction to this.

Please just end this pathetic excuse of a player's career. No self respect for himself or anyone else in a higher position.

This is complete rubbish

Inzimam needs to take it easy and stop making these youngsters life's hell

Totally agree.

Shezhad is already dejected and he is struggling to make runs in domestic cricket, why make his difficulties even more cumbersome ?

Wrong from Inzi, iA the cream always rises to the top - Shezhad will be back.

:afridi

Meanwhile Fawad has been toiling for years, performed in the chances he got at the Test level and has been isolated despite performing consistently. Maybe Fawad should play in T20 leagues and do a couple of showbiz styles interviews with the media to get back into the team.

Inzimam needs to get a grip here
He's been made chief selector and he doesn't want to go back to coaching afghanistan but players like shehzad are natural talent even Gayle and Luke wright say so

He just needs some professional mentoring to sort out what little problems he has and then he should become consistent. He already has like 10 international centuries, would threaten the Pakistani record for most tons if he was playing in all 3 formats.

Unfortunately we have been blessed with selectors such as Inzimam. :sanga

Shehzad is definitely our best opener

Don't know what we see in Shehzad. No technique or ability to rotate strike. Seems that every boundary now and again is enough to please most Pak fans. Hopefully, Inzi will never select this slogger.

Lol.

Slog have you forgotten how selection works in PCB? This is just a random statement of a random selector who will not be there after 1 or 2 maybe 3 years.

And, even during this time, a lot of sympathy can arise for Shehzad. From media, within pcb or the selection panel.

Shehzad is the biggest media darling after Afridi and also has strong backing in cricketing circles plus PCB.

He'll be back within the next 1 or 2 years and isn't going anywhere.

Has learned from the best. :afridi

no he isnt, hes crap, and we should all be thankful he has been rightly booted out, hopefully for good.

For good? That too for a media and PCB darling like Shehzad? Read the post above. :)

Shehzad has regressed massively in last two years. I 100% agree with Inzimam's stance. These guys like Shehzad and Umar Akmal aren't 17-18 year old "youngsters" anymore. They have played lots of international cricket and are full grown men.

I can't see why anyone would have sympathy for Shehzad or Akmal at this point in time. Those two are still young enough and if they work hard, they can make a comeback. That is basically what Inzi is telling them. It is up to those two now to show us that they deserve to play for Pakistan.

When everyone else falls which they will shehzad will be back whether it's because he's been helping out domestically or through impressing inzimam in the nets or more likely because everyone else has failed shehzad will turn out again mark my words

perhaps - you may very well be right. but that doesnt change the fact that he is totally crap.

Weird to think how people had high hopes from him back in 2013 after that SAF 100.

Aamer Sohail's analysis of him is on point. Other than midwicket hoicks he has got nothing anymore. Even in BPL you can go read the commentary when he is playing and you will see the same hack like shots where he tries to clear his front leg, miscues the ball and scampers for a run before getting out. Has forgotten how to bat completely in his quest to become a power hitter.

Spent too much time with Afridi, Gayle, Pollard and the like.

Shahzad has everything going for him a modern cricketer of this generation. Except for the timing to play shots in the gaps and the inability to rotate the strike.

Imagine if these "talented" players had the work ethic & a big price on their wicket like Azhar Ali, shehzad should have been mentioned in the same league as Williamson & Root by now but 10 tons & he thinks he has a right to stay forever! Ps after watching him in the bpl i would not even put him in the A team.. good riddance

Shehzad is history. He is too arrogant to accept his flaws and work on them and I don't think Inzi would select him anytime soon.

Inzimam or any other selector is not expected to use words like " I punished Shezad and Umar" , players can be dropped but should not be insulted.

Inzi is right if Umar and Shehzad want to improve their game they need to play first class cricket and not these fancy mediocre leagues

If Inzi wants players to play in the domestic league to get selected, he should also make arrangements to provide these players who get offers from foreign leagues higher compensation.

It is naive of him to think that international level players will leave money on the table to play in the domestic circuit where they are basically paid peanuts. Infact he should be happy players like Amir have been offered to play county cricket.

If PCB won't give players NOC in the future and force these players to play F/C cricket, we will be soon heading in the same direction WCB finds itself in.

Pakistan cricket is how it is........... based on finances that we have right now, nobody is forcing these players to choose between one or the other. They are free individuals who can choose for themselves, if they want to play and represent PAKISTAN they need to score and show performances in PAKISTANI FIRST CLASS CRICKET competition which is the set standard.

If they want to earn money.....Good for them !! However, people are painting a picture as if people in domestic play for free, I know a few blokes who represent FC teams in Pakistan and trust me this hoopla around non finances is pretty overblown.....

The real shortage of money is in club cricket while any cricketer who plays FC has a lot of sponsorship opportunities plus is provided adequate match fees that is good enough for fueling their cricket and a decent lifestyle in PAKISTAN.

It is naive of him to think that international level players will leave money on the table to play in the domestic circuit where they are basically paid peanuts. Infact he should be happy players like Amir have been offered to play county cricket.

If my knowledge is correct, Amir will play FC games in England and not the usual T20 rubbish hence he will enhance his skills in the longer format which is what real cricket is.....T20 is just Garbage.

Also as I mentioned earlier the selection for criteria for Pakistan is you know..... PAKISTANI First Class or a First Class competition of similar status, which why people going off to Play BPL should not complain if the Selection Committee decides to not include them in ODI or Test Squads.

If PCB won't give players NOC in the future and force these players to play F/C cricket, we will be soon heading in the same direction WCB finds itself in.

#1 West Indies is not a country hence there is no loyalty among their players in representing them at the international stage

#2 In Pakistan there are enough people / businesses/ financial institutions and other factors involved that I hardly think any thing even remotely West Indian might take place. Also the fact that cricket is THE ONLY sport in the spotlight is another benefit.

Shehzad was a bright talent who could have been the best out there, but his strike rotation and gap piercing ability is too poor. If he can sort this out he can become a relentless boundary hitter. I don't see him coming back after a couple of years.

If only I could bowl 150 kph, I'd be an amazing right arm bowler who could probably represent Pakistan at the highest stage !!

No need to mince words and lie about it. It's good that Inzamam made it clear why they were dropped and what they need to do to get back into the team.

Personal opinion I can't stand Shehzad, his ego ticks me off man. There's no need to be brash or cocky, just show the world of cricket your ability as a batsman and opener. You will gain respect that way, work hard and reap the rewards unfortunately you won't do that.

But he doesn't really get invited many places asides from the pointless Bangladesh league where honestly there's higher chances of a player regressing rather than learning anything

CPL he only came as a late replacement for someone for a few matches and failed spectacularly

He has never been invited to English t20 or Big bash league either. Infact Umar Akmal seems that he is much more highly rated in these leagues. Is always a first choice in CPL and regularly is part of the English competition. Was even offered big bash once.

Neither Inzi nor Shehzad should be talking on this issue in public. There is not an inch of professionalism in our setup and its sickening

hes not telling him

hes just stating a policy

and its all a moot point

shehzad's performance doesnt merit a recall

But Inzi is the chief selector while Shahzad is a cricketer. Different roles. Inzi has every right to publicly lay out his selection criteria...

I understand that. Problem is this is Pakistan. Everyone speaks out of turn. So Inzi talking like that in public means that Shehzad feels ok to reply

Err.... Which is actually NOT OK to be honest. Inzi is the Chief Selector and was asked these questions in a presser [situation] to which he replied in his capacity as a chief selector.

Shehzad on the other hand is shooting off on Twitter which is, not at all a professional way to conduct yourself and also him take jibes at the standing Chief Selector for Pakistan Cricket is just sad :(.

Look I am not justifying Shehzad's propensity for shooting his mouth off; Just saying that if Shehzad is so important to Pak cricket then Inzi needs to take care. He can easily tell him privately that look I may speak to the press about this but I dont want you replying to it either.

Well Inzi is telling him in public also

inzi didnt say anything wrong
u dont need to play tamasha leauges when ur premier fc tournament is going on and that too for a player who wants to regain place in national team

even before the league had started he wasnt playing games

7 fc games had happened by the time BPL started and he only played 2

khalif latif, sami etc who are in bpl had played 6-7 games
