Sherlock Season 4 Episode 1 premiers today on New Year's Eve.

Can't wait!!

It has been 3 years since Season 3 so hope it lives up to the hype.

P.S. Hope Moriarty returns.

Excited. Have a feeling he isn't coming back and it's just a message he recorded before he died.

Fair game - in the Abominable Bride special episode, Sherlock concluded he is most likely dead and planned for events to occur after he died.

However, the trailer has a few shots of the back of his head so anything is possible...

Hopefully Moriarti doesn't come back, that like going in circles if not.

Things got really stupid in season 3. Let's see how far they go this time.

I prefer the episides written by Gattiss. Moffat tries to be too clever for the sale of cleverness.

Episode 2 was incredible. An hour later and I'm still struggling to get over it. :))

I thought it was all over and a pretty meh episode then the last few minutes happened. Think it turned it from good to great. The first one of this season many people reckoned it had jumped the shark so good that it's back on track. Really could do without the Mary ghost rubbish.

Ending was great!

I knew Sherlock was not hallucinating about that woman!

Can't wait for the season finale...

He put me right off Doctor Who as the plots go more and more convoluted.

As always episode 2 was a stunner although I want to see a simple case free of whole complex issues going on.

something like all the former 2nd episodes.

Why can't they have simple cases??

I have not seen a more rubbish, nonsensical season finale in my life!

Complete and utter rubbish and the Final Problem made no sense at all. What the hell were they thinking?

1) How did Eurus go back in jail?
2) How did she even get out?
3) How did she get those 3 brothers and the Governor's wife
4) How was she a genius and how do you even "reprogram" someone you meet?
5) How did she end up in the cabin in the end where she was controlling the damn prison!!
6) Watson's feet were chained to the bottom of the well - how did he unlock it when thrown a rope?
7) Why did Eurus pretend to be Faith and John's therapist - what was her end goal?
8) Why were Lestrade and Molly so underutilized as compared to the first few seasons?

Going back to season 3
1) How did Moriarty play that "Miss Me?" video all over the country!!! What the hell was the purpose of it?
2) Did he even die in the first place?
3) What was Moriarty's grand master plan in the first place (Lady Blackwood asked about it in the first episode but freaking Sherlock decided tweeting was more important...

So many god damn plotholes and continuity errors!! Cannot believe they made such an unprofessional script and storyline...

So dissapointed with one of my favorite TV shows.

Wish I could sue Gatiss and Moffat right now! :livid::livid::livid:

I don't get what was so incredible about episode 2. Am I missing something? Since season 3, every single episode has been about Sherlock/Watson bromance more than anything else. They haven't had a single proper story or case, no real mystery in the good old Sherlockian sense since Moriarty's death and everything just revolves around Sherlock saving John and Mary. Just pretentious visual effects and John talking to a dead Mary. Moffat is the most snobbish writer I've seen. They should have just started a thriller TV show with these last 7 episodes. They don't deserve to be a part of the Sherlock universe.

I think episode 2 was more of a return to a normal linear detective story with a big twist at the end (it was good enough that I went back and watched it again and will probably do so again) and less of the other rubbish which has destroyed the series. Episodes 1 and 3 were horrendous.

Agreed. the season was underwhelming but if you ask me, only the first one appealed to me and that too mostly because of the novelty. Anyway, here are the answers to your questions

1) How did Eurus go back in jail?

She practically controlled the facility and came in and out as she wished. Everyone over there was under her control.

2) How did she even get out?

see 1. she put the governor under trance. used the speaker system to control the all the people in the facility.

3) How did she get those 3 brothers and the Governor's wife

through her resources which were obtained by mind controlling powerful people like the governor. you have to understand that every person in that high security prison was under her direct control. flying in and out and getting a few people wasnt an issue at all

4) How was she a genius and how do you even "reprogram" someone you meet?

she was a genius just like her other two siblings. technically you can reprogram a person through hypnosis or other mind altering techniques like resonating special frequencies that activate certain enzymes etc. in the body to make human beings more susceptible to control. how she did it was never specified, maybe some advanced form of hypnosis that she was born with. call it her superpower if you feel more comfortable with the term

5) How did she end up in the cabin in the end where she was controlling the damn prison!!

i presume you are talking about the end. she made then unconscious and took them to the cabin possibly with the help of staff at hand who were working for her.

6) Watson's feet were chained to the bottom of the well - how did he unlock it when thrown a rope?

that part wasnt shown. only him holding the rope was shown. possibly, a tiny detail left ambiguous since there was help available anyway

7) Why did Eurus pretend to be Faith and John's therapist - what was her end goal?

boredom. she did things just because she wanted to. no particular reason at all. also she predicted all the things as they'd happen and continued to set sherlock puzzles that he kept unlocking

8) Why were Lestrade and Molly so underutilized as compared to the first few seasons?

because the story line has become bigger and doesn't fall in the same premise anymore. big is better and fancier not just solving ordinary murder trials anymore.

Going back to season 3
1) How did Moriarty play that "Miss Me?" video all over the country!!! What the hell was the purpose of it?

the end game was eurus playing around with the heads of her brothers.

2) Did he even die in the first place?

yes. he died. he always wanted to die a heroic death and become part of a major plan to continue his game after death - an opportunity that eurus provided him perfectly.

3) What was Moriarty's grand master plan in the first place (Lady Blackwood asked about it in the first episode but freaking Sherlock decided tweeting was more important...

the grand master plan was boredom. an extremely intelligent being stuck in a mind prison with no way out. and ultimately sherlock helped her escape the mind prison.

the show wasn't good and ever since the novelty factor has gone, the holes appear bigger. good or bad, as dr. watson said, it is what it is.

This show tried to be too philosophical and it failed miserably at that. The plot hole you have mentioned are just a few of many. I liked it for the first 2 seasons but the last 2 were rather disappointing. I caught on with people because of its philosophicalness since the cool actions and quotes were hiding the plot holes from public view.

Last 2 seasons have added too much stuff to the basic premise of Sherlock and John solving murders.. Wished there was more of that in the show..

Certain aspects need to be fleshed out but it's a TV show after all which is designed to suspend your disbelief.

The girl on the plane was a metaphor for Eurus wanting a bit of attention but then it doesn't explain those phone calls with the little girl unless it was Eurus on the line changing her voice or something/mind-control. It was an okay episode the finale, visually stunning, great setting and premise but I guess the execution could have been better.

I enjoyed the series. It's not top-flight telly - there are too many plot holes, and a lack of emotional impact.

My favourite eppo of all was the Watson wedding story.

That was a good one.

Also the one in which Sherlock gets shot and later it turns out his shooter was Mary.

The Hounds of Baskerville was my favourite.

Am yet to see the special Abominable Bride

Agree shaz619

It is one of the best (and scariest ) Sherlock Holmes stories, and they made it just as much intriguing in the show.. Had perfect balance between the book & cinema !!

That was a good one shaz619. It was set in the 1890s, suggesting that Sherlock's modern adventures are all a drug-dream.

I had read the book and was so excited for that episode in particular, felt they did a brilliant job.
