What's new

India (306/6) defeat New Zealand (300/8) by four wickets in 1st ODI at Vadodara

Kohli is out. No century for him. :inti

chubstr-bed.gif

Good 41st over. Only 3 off it. :inti

59 to win from 54.

A few tight overs can make things interesting.

Good to test India B in these JAMODIs. Presence of Hardik, Shami, and Bumrah will completely change this team.

Rana walks in now .

Rahul still out there is the key . He will look to keep most strike

Sweepy remind us how India beat in the CT final? It was an ODI event....you are mixing up again your formats to suit your pathetic India phobic agenda....

Another tight over from NZ. RRR has climbed up to 7. :inti

Need a few more tight overs.

56 to win from 48.

56 from 48 balls

The match still in India court , they need to keep calm , if they bat out overs they should win this.

I really hope this pathetic bowling heavy strategy of India's is brutally exposed enough times before the World Cup.

No other point to this bilateral series
Jadeja out cheaply and Sundar being hidden behind Rana. Good stuff.

This crap combination was exposed against South Africa as well.

Still, Indian cricket never learns

Kiwi C team really holding their own.

For such a small country they gave tremendous depth.

Sad state of affairs in cricket (becoming a 5 country sport). Forget their A sides, Big 3 + NZ and SA’s B / C sides are better than all other teams.

Harshit Rana taking the lead role in a partnership with someone who is supposed to be a batsman

Babar would have feasted against this C team....thats why he's King Bobby, master of C sides :bobs
I think this is the lowest amount of total caps for a seam attack that has been put forward in international cricket for a long time.

CRedit to these upcoming bowlers for managing to reign India in.

Not everything needs to be about India Pakistan bro. Live a little, get some fresh air, you are becoming too confrontational.

He has a habit of focusing on other users and going off-topic. A mentally unstable fella. :inti

Why can't he talk about the game or stick to the thread's topic?

What to do brother, no positivity on PP, rubs off innit......

I promise to be more optmistic, friendlier and positive about Scotland
:hug

India have won the last 7 games vs kiwis in odi
India beat them in wc 2023 group stage, semi final and beat them in final. What NZ does is play these minnow sides like Bangladesh and beat the crap out of them home and away

Sundar is a decent bat. Should see them home alongside the experience KL.

Good game whatever the result.

Series does seem a bit pointless though, but it is what it is.

Sundar is struggling to run due to an injury. Why did they send him? :inti

Should've sent in tail-enders.

Commercial obligations to pacify the sponsors I suppose or could be the fad of split tours- test and ODIs split into two.... not great for carbon footprint or ESG but great for $$££

This is a very very bad team. Gambhir's obsession with all rounders will cost them soon. You cannot have jadeja, Sundar batting at 6, 7. They are more like 7, 8. Infact both should not play together. Only one can play. You need 7 batsmen. Current India has just 5 batsmen.

Assuming Axar's out due to injury?

When India was cruising at 233-2, majority of posters in sleep....when it was 242/5, this thread cames alive

Most of the new era t20 coaches seen to like padding full of all rounders.

Hesson in T20 does it but can be argued that it's the right format. Gambhir and Baz Mcculum do it in longer format. It seems like nerves to try and cover all bases, but it can run the risk of making the line up thin too.

Agent Adithya.... our long term ploy of sending Indians to Kiwilands worked out ..... IYKYK
;)

In ODIs and Tests you need proper batsman who can bat for long periods and score quickers when needed. Not bowler who can bat. Gambhir is a terrible long format coach

9 to win from 9.

Final over may have to be bowled by a spinner. All frontline pacers are done. :inti

Heard if NZ win this game, it will be their first ODI win against India since Nov’22. Is that correct?

Kiwi inexperience cost them.

Good opportunity for these lads to bowl to players like Rahul and Kohli.

Good game of cricket.

This match has shown us 3 things:

- India are declining in ODI and Test. They are pretty average without veterans like Rohit and Kohli.
- NZ have good bench strength.
- Foulkes needs to shorten his run-up. He runs in like Shoaib Akthar but bowls like Ashok Dinda.

:inti

The only thing match's shown us India pi$$ed all over again over Sweepy's hopes and disproved the Sunday connection.....

Rest is all imagination of a frustrated mind....:shakib

India played terribly still miraculously won it. Especially none of the bowlers look like ODI bowlers. Siraj is more or less done in this format. Rana is a rookie. Jadeja is washed up long back. NZ did not take advantage of India's poor bowling line up.

Bilateral ODIs - pointless except as prep for the WC.

So I don’t read anything into the results, just individual performances. To which, Kohli seems to be ok, and Rana may - contrary to precious opinion- not as bad as the last four letters of his first name.

8-0 against NZ in the last 8 ODIs.

NZ have struggled against India in this format in recent times

What is the point of playing these odi’s?

Anyways. Most of the players in the odi side are not part of T20 side.
