Can anyone recommend a good place to go for shisha in lahore? I heard its banned in lahore but surely not?

My friend in Lahore currently on holiday there, has said they are banned but there are some good hotspots illegal though

It is always supply and demand. In 2016 when I visited Pakistan, me and a friend had to pay Rs 3,000 for a shisha at one of the few posh places which served it but it was absolutely not worth Rs 3,000.

I could not find a single place in Lahore in 2017 and everyone I asked was clueless about it

shisha was banned by the ganja bros years ago all over Pakistan but PTI lifted the ban in KPK - here's hoping they lift it in LAhore too, till then if your in islo you can travel to the kpk border with punjab but they do charge alot.

By banning shisha, they put so many cafe's and resteraunts out of business in a single stroke. It is a social activity which allows people to get together after a long day

Why were they banned? These seem to be very popular in Britain among the desi/arab communities, presumably for socialising, although why you need to inhale fumes to do it I'm not sure. Is it because they are considered harmful, or because they encourage mixed gatherings and chichorapan?

I also never understood why they were banned. But i think it was probably because females were also hooked up to it and maybe the PMLN lawmakers did not like this.

To be honest, i was glad it was banned. My friends who were underage were always using it, and i always thought that this led to smoking cigs. As doing shesha was known as the cool thing 5 years back.
They were often made in very dirty "kitchens".

Many "restaurants" were just selling shesha and not even food, thats how popular it got.

My friends would do shesha as a social gathering. Interesting enough, after its ban, the demand for gaming zones have increased quite alot as youngsters now soaiclaize over there

PMLN are *******. Sheesha cafe are a place to chillax and meet people. It gives the youth some social activity; this is lacking at the moment in Pakistan. Ofcourse, things need to be monitored so that drugs are not mixed in the flavour etc. Sheesha is allowed in every other country and rightly so.

I disagree.

If the law cannot be administered properly then Shesha should be kept banned. Problem is the underage shesha, the unclean shesha from inside, dirty water.

Couldn't you say that about a fairly large percentage of food establishments in Pakistan? Do the same standards apply to them? Obviously hygiene should be a major concern, but that is something that needs to be addressed in all industries and would need to be enforced by properly qualified bodies.

you are right, but this underage shesha smoking was promoting the "cool Smoking" culture of Pakistan.

UNless they dont ban underage sale of cigs and increase the tax on cigs by 20 times, i'm happy with the shesha ban

A lot of resteraunts and cafes went out of business because of this stupid law.

I guarantee it that if shisha is allowed again, the resteraunt industry will boom again and this will mean more jobs. Heck even Chai dhaba's will do more business than before.

The people at the top need to see the bigger picture. I would love to see anecdotes and stories about people dying from Shisha.

A lot of laws can not be administered in a 3rd world country so thats not an excuse as sheesha smoking is not that big an issue.

Competition will encourage hygiene.

jo administer hora ussay honay do.

Shesha smoking is a big issue if you look from a long term effect. To underage people it promotes the cool looking trend, which is then shifted towards cigs.

If the govt wants to allow shesha smoking then they should do so after placing strict bans and taking actions against people serving underage shesha smokers

and computation does not encourage hygiene. In Pindi scheme 3, there lots of shesha cafes, yet all of them served shesha in dirty water and no one cared.

what bigger picture? Even legalizing chars will increase jobs for people aswell.

If underage shesha smokers arn't stopped, then this is the way it is.

Also, i find the concept of social gathering over shisha to be quite ridiculous.

Inhaling dangerous fumes just to socialize is a very dumb concept in my opinion.

Chars is addictive, Shisha is not. I would like to know one death caused by Shisha

read post 21. Its not about being addicted to it, its about how it leads to long term damage as explained in earlier post

plus a stupid way to socialize in a gathering

whether its dangerous or not is another discussion, but I'm sure people who smoke it do not think of it as a healthy substance just like people who go to the pub to socialize and drink.

Why was it banned lol

Because lazy governments have to show that they are indeed doing something (whether its positive steps or negative is debatable).

Rather than going after prostitution dhandas, drug dens, drug smuggling from Afghan border into Pakistan, etc... they do stuff like ban more than one dish at weddings.

It is the easier action to take, and you can show the public all the good deeds you have done.
