his performances in the PSL have been very disappointing. He has been outperformed by even the likes of 40 years old retired Sangakara and this is the format he enjoys the most. What's more disappointing is he could not get single boundary against fast bowlers at his will and was not as impressive against spin as he used to be. I still remember how he was unable to put Zampa away for boundaries on Aus tour. Is Malik slowly approaching end of his career?

approaching the end yes, but he has done well since his latest comeback and probably is as fit as he has ever been.

What i hope is that Malik can last for at least another year or so, in which time we should hopefully have an established number 6 and we can have guys like Haris/Talat, so on ready to take his spot.

However if he keeps scoring, i see no reason for the rush to get him out

his ability to dominate the spin was what keeping him in the side..if that is slowly diminishing then that is sadly the end. We all knew his skills against fast bowling in the past but now he looks no better than Fawad Alam.

no. that's a problem. how you score your runs matter. Last night him and Sangakara almost lost Karachi the game with their stupid tuk tuk in the middle when they should have been rotating the strike and getting the odd boundaries. Sangakara is understood he is past but Malik is still playing in the national side. How can we afford to have a middle order of Baber,Hafeez,Sarfraz Malik?

I would drop Malik, have Baber open and Hafeez at 6. We need to make some fundamental changes if we want to improve as a LOI team. The other teams these days look to score in the middle overs too and we are still relying on the old strategy of tuk tukking in the 15-40 overs. This approach has become a thing of past.

Of course, he's 36 and will retire in 2019/2020. However, he has been better this edition. His knock was Peshawar was one of the innings of the tournament that arguably started Karachi's resurgence.

However, his hitting at the death is a worry in general. Doesn't have the power to clear the ropes consistently. He's a good accumulator though and one of our few players who can rotate the strike and build partnerships in the middle-order.

Him at 4 and Sarfraz at 5 or vice versa is our best bet for the middle-order for the time being.

Hafeez with his last innings has probably sealed his place in the national team at 4. Baber is already batting at 3. Sarfraz and Malik will be our 5,6. This is not the best batting line up to have. All of them are pretty much one dimensional with Baber exception in the PP overs.

you are going over the top. Im well aware how you scores runs matter, hence my critisims of Misbah/Azhar/ Saint Team Man. However Malik has still been good since he came back, has played crucial innings including that partnership with Sarfraz that helped us chase 300. He has had his off days but there difference between him and tuk tuk brigade is that when Malik is good he takes singles as well as hitting the big shot. Overall Malik has been good since his comeback. Hence i dont see him as a problem yet and replacing him with professor is just silly

He can be a handy bowler but sad that he didnt get much chance to bowl

1) Are you kidding me???? He made 5 dots where as BABAR mad e 11 dots!!!

2)Again, are you even serious? He was playing brilliant knocks in the PSL

BUT

a) gave away his wicket agains IU (1st match against them) bcuz it was already won!

b) Got run out twice in the past 3 games

He is the best strike rotator by far in the national and Karachi side too!

hafeez comes nowhere near

secondly, BABAR played 11 dots during the powerplay, don't make these SILLY COMPARISONS!

When it comes to regular strike rotation, you need to be very careful when complaining against him!

Though I was quite surprised not to see another Malik-hate thread but finallyyyyy

Baber had Gayle batting with him but when he also played a maiden Baber hit Irfan for four consecutive fours in the next over. Can Malik do that? Malik and Hafeez are really struggling against fast bowling can't even dominate the medium pacers these days. At least back in their peek days they could really take on the mediocre fast bowlers. These are signs of their downfall. I can only imagine what will happen in Champions Trophy if our middle order consists of Baber,Hafeez,Sarfraz,Malik.

No,he still is very good in running between the wickets and is better then many other players playing for Pakistan.

first you were talking about dot bowls and strike rotation and all of a sudden you change your statement.

But still,

Babar was batting in powerplay overs, getting a four was a no big deal, whilst Malk played fearlessly against the spinner shadab khan, his strokes were perfectly timed, But Babar was just clueless against Shadab.

as far as his fitness is concerned, the captain sends a senior player on the boundary for a reason1

Malik is better than Umar Akmal at least, useful spinner as well, very experienced cricketer who can help the captain Sarfraz, very handy

He played only one good knock and his qualifier's knock was one match losing knock he is a good utility player but his game against pace bowling is non existent but due to lack of choices he will feature in champions trophy
