Misfielding, unable to score runs or take wickets (that is whenever he decides to bowl) - shadow of a player from his old days.

Malik in my view is a man who looks ready to go - what is disappointing is that he should be using the World Cup as a way to give his best for his country as he leaves the scene but sadly that is not the case.

Batting, bowling, fielding - each being done as if it was a chore and this is not the Malik we were used to.

Not 1st time a player has been selected past his sell by date, looking disinterested and like a passenger in the team during a world cup.

The worst was seeing my fav player javed miandad selected for 96 world cup when he was a shadow of the player he was, hadnt scored a 100 for over 3 years before the WC and couldnt hit the ball off the square during it.

Sadly pakistan isnt ruthless enough to get rid of under performing seniors before they should.

Cannot wait, will celebrate when that long overdue day happens.

There's needs to be a stand now he should be dropped for good after this match need hungry players not mediocre has beens.

Blame the management They should have the courage to drop under performing players

Why is malik even in the squad on what basis?

In that case, why is he still making himself available for selection?

It's already a huge tragedy we're playing a player who averages 14 in England.
Mamoon though thinks he still has something to offer.

The only two pluses this guy supposedly has over Haris is his fielding and ‘experience’. His fielding was shambolic today and he was nowhere to be seen when Shaheen clearly needed an experienced senior head to guide him early on. Absolute waste of a spot.

Best batsman in the team according to IM NOT YOU :))

Don't let the door hit your mediocre career on the way out Shoaib.

It was wrong from the word go. Umar Akmal deserved to go to this World cup before this guy at least.

Walked in a daze - walked out with same expression

This is the risk when you take a player along who is at the fag end of his career. Afridi was not energized in the 2015 WC. A lot of critics in 1992 accussed Imran of the same when the team was badly struggling. Malik is in the phase where he is not scared of failure now because he has nothing left to lose.

Malik is easily 40+. Age seems to have caught up with him. But he is still very fit.

Should be his last game for Pak.

Glorified minnow basher.

Even when he was given captaincy against Aus, he looked least interested

He went to Pakistan and came back a finished man. Hope his personal life is sorted but pretty pathetic of the team to select him without any form esp when you have Haris available.

When you start fielding like Mohammed Yousuf, you know it's time to hang up the boots and never look back at Pak cricket again.

Same problem as Hafeez, even if fitness is there, the reflexes have gone and they probably don't see the ball as early as they used to.

Hopefully this ends the senior culture

Shameful travesty how Malik plays over Haris considering their respective records

According to some cricket experts on the forum, has been a great bat over the past few years.

The guy has been rubbish all his life and we are still concerned about dropping senior players.

Hafeez won us the last match, not sure what Hafeez has got to do with Malik being awful?

Haris had to at 4( although he isn't that good either) and Hafeez at 5. Don't see what Malik brings and haven't seen anything for a long time.

Hafeez won us the last match, not sure what Hafeez has got to do with Malik being awful?

Hafeez is still a decent bat, just not sure he's as good against the short ball as he used to be. Age is the only thing I was comparing, he's still worth his spot in the side.

Yes I completely agree, plus he'll retire after the World Cup anyway.

Never liked him and Will never ever support him... He is the most pathetic player we produced... only good when balls don't rise above knee.. Call it a day already

Shoaib malik .... on what earth he was a good player....

Awful , shakky and timid batsman of all time

Yes,indian fans would like malik dropped. The only pak batsman that can threaten our spin twins apart from azam.

I can think of three players in this squad that should be above him,

Suhail
Imad
Shadab

There really is not excuse to be picking him. Even his fielding has dropped off.
The less said about his batting the better.

he looks completely done against pace or medium pace. my favorite player, now a shadow of himself.

Every World Cup Pakistan takes 2-3 out of form dinosaur players and every World Cup they crush out.

The myth that he is good against spin is like telling other countries that they are obligated to babysit this chachu and ball according to his wishes. Doesn't work like that in the real world unfortunately.

Either you are a batsman or a masquerade. Or an idiot.

I hope Pakistan drops Malik for the India game, he has been a persistent thorn in the flesh for us.

Needs to be relieved of his misery. Competence over experience, always for me.

Can someone just break this old man's knee cap and send him on his way and fly in umar akmal to save our blushes if we have any

If this neanderthal is dropped the next match Pakistan would get out in 100 runs, the mafia he has constructed with other players has helped him survive 19 years without doing or performing for Pakistan.

Just imagine guy with a 14 average in England selected for World Cup. This mafia is managed by Inzamam. They got rid of World T20 winner Younis Khan they can destroy Sarfraz pretty easily.

Malik & co are going to have a intense decision making team meeting tonight.. who's going to sit on the window seat & who's going to sit on the aisle seats on the plane back!!

Mr goody two shoes staying under the radar yet again. Complete waste of space in the team. Apart from his catching he has absolute nothing to offer the team.

1999 and 2011 are the only World Cups where we didn't take any dinosaur players with us or passengers.

It was a tactical failure. He shouldn’t be selected against a pace-heavy attack. He will probably get dropped against India but I don’t think it is a very bright idea.

He can hold his own in the middle overs against Kuldeep and Chahal.

that 1999 team is like a dream team for Pak dnt think we went into any other WC with a stronger squad than that in 1999

Did you see him bat against Rashid in the warmup? The two things this mediocre cricketer had going for him was his ability to play spin and field well. He has lost both. Time to bench him permanently.

Rashid is a bit unique. He is extremely quick for a spinner. Malik held his own against the Indian duo in the Asia Cup when everyone else was struggling.

They are a very wily duo and I don’t have hope in our batsmen to cope with them. Malik and Hafeez are the two exceptions in my opinion. I would play Malik at 4 and Hafeez at 5 against India.

We took Salim and Ijaz with us in 1999, and Wasti.

In 2011, we took Shehzad, Younis, Shafiq and Akhter.

You say we have mediocre players and cry about it, then you support the most mediocre player we have ever produced. I guess it could be to do with him marrying an Indian.

Kuddos to people who pick him over Harris on this pitch against Aus. You deserve an Oscar.

Nothing will happen if he is dropped. He was also not in the squad for the West Indies match. He is on his way out and will not pick up a fight with the management.

Malik is mediocre as well.

Harris is still a safer bet as he has delivered against England pacers.

Wasti scored in the Semi Final and did well enough to see off the new ball except for in the final.

Forgot about Salim, so he's the only one.

In 2011 -

Shehzad was young and showed potential in the series prior in New Zealand Vs New Zealand

Younis was still a vital player for us back then.

Shafiq was a youngster as well and we thought he had potential.

Akhtar didn't do too badly either, it was only until Kamran screwed him his World Cup came to an end.

Pakistan deserve malik.

This is their senior culture. I’m happy. Let them suffer. Bought it upon themselves.

Malik hasn't looked interested since 2009...it's been at least a good decade since he had any desire or tried...

This man a record 50 innings, I repeate 50 consecutive innings in international cricket without scoring a fifty...

Malik is a poster child of political influence ruining Pakistan cricket...and we have other afflictions to content with...

He offers nothing as he he is clueless against pace. Haris should be in for him for sure. Haris bowls spin and can handle pace much better.

How can a spinner give no bowl.

Its the definition of insanity Doesnt he avge like 13 in england?

Imad Wasim/HArris Sohail should replace him for next matches. SM has just lost it

This man is dead as a cricketer and so is our captain who still considers him a force

If babar gets out we don't have another player who can play big innings.

Haris annoyed me in the WI game, surely he can't be worse that Malik.
