Should Azhar Ali continue as a pure batsman in ODIs?

Since 2016, Azhar Ali has an average of 27 and strike rate of 72.

Do you think he should simply stop playing the ODI format ? Will he be dropped from the team against the west Indies ? Why are we still persisting with him ?

No. Awful ODI player. Should stick to Tests. We need another dynamic opener to partner Sharjeel. Umar is the best bet

A big Nooooooooo

i will go that furthest and say i will take shehzad over azhar ali

the polar opposite of modern cricket in every way

we need another dasher up top

Babar should have hopefully killed any thoughts of azhar being retained as a player

He is not a pure ODI batsman let him just play test as a batsman period this is all what he can do and do quite well so he should continue doing so.

His scores in this series: 24,7,7 at atrocious strike rates.

Sure is making a case for himself to play as pure batsman

Can't have a line up with Malik Azhar and Hafeez. So if I have to chose from these three I would keep Azhar only. But the harsh truth is I don't know where to bat him. A top three of Azhar, sharjeel, and babar is too defensive.

I think his time is up... he has been given quite alot of time to settle in ODIs... he doesn't have it in him..

The most agressive line up Pakistan can currently produce is

Sharjeel
Shahzaib
Babar
Umar
Khalid Latif
Sarfaraz
Imad

Think it's time up for him.

It's stupid because they should have let Azhar focus on his ODI batting rather than handing him captaincy. But time's gone now, need to move on.

I don't want Any of Azhar, Malik, Hafeez and Sarfraz in LOI teams. None of them can play pace bowlers with any authority, flat or not, they ca only play full length, which everybody in the world know for some time.... This 80s style batsmen are of no use.

Pakistan need to reboot its batting and bowling. Power is the name of the game, batsmen should be able to hit boundaries on any length not just full. Bowlers should be able to crank up 145/150, 135ish Bowlers are of no use, army of trundlers and toothless batsmen is reason we are no 8 team.

Let's see what we get in PSL, I am not that hopeful that we will get the kind of players I am looking though 👺👺👺

Only reason why Khalid isn't in the side is fitness. Which is why he didn't play the ODI series in WI.

What annoys me is that a lot of the talented/big hitters in our side are fat/unfit. And the ones who don't seem to be talented are fit. It's useless lol.

Even Maqsood would be an upgrade over Latif, (actually Maqsood hasn't done so bad in domestics this season). Latif is more of a swatter than a batsman, he is excellent against spin but would struggle against pace.

Also Umar is done and dusted. This should be his last series as a Pakistani cricketer. Can't keep playing on the basis of 'talent' and supposed 'potential'

Ive been saying this for quite some time now. PCB has extremely weird definitions of 'match fit'. For a very long time now I have seen a large emphasis on players having the phyisical ability to score well in a bleep test, whereas there seems to be a clear lack of mental/physical strength training. These guys want sleek/lean players who are actually not even great fielders and they are nothing special in their respected traits, and the reality is that Pakistan's best talents are those who struggle with fitness. If I dont see Babar Azam put on atleast 5kg of muscle I think PCB really has no clue how to build a player!

His batting against pace is very week.
