Considering how AFG beat them recently I firmly believe that BD will end up rock bottom in the WTC table and it's my suggestion to the ICC to have a qualifier for the last spot of the WTC between IRE,AFG and BD

I am sick of seeing this BD side trying to 'improve' since 1999 add to that their pathetic attitude as if they are the AUS of Asian Cricket.

We need to give more chances to IRE AFG and even NED. The more they play the more they will improve..BD have not improved at all so far so it's best if we have a qualifier for the last position of the WTC

I think any side which ends up in the bottom two positions need to play qualifiers with higher ranked teams beyond the top 10, so that could mean Ireland, Afghanistan and whoever else that may be.

All sides should play WTC - unless ICC decides to have 2 tier one in which case we could well end up in same tier as Bangladesh

The people I know at the ICC tell me that it’s a done deal to have two divisions, but the announcement is being delayed in the hope that “the right” teams finish in the Top Five this time.

If they do, there will be less heat on the Big Three. But India, Australia and England have reportedly already agreed that the top division will be:

Australia
England
India
New Zealand
South Africa

The Second Division will be

Bangladesh
Pakistan
Sri Lanka
West Indies
?Afghanistan

Obviously it’s politically easier to do this if the “right” teams finish in the top five this time.

Lol. You probably know no one in the ICC. Didn't you say once that you met Naseem and he looked crippled or something??
Stop ruining your credibility.

Anways, South Africa doesn't deserve to be in the top 5. The way they got thrashed by India in India was truly astounding. They even got beaten by Sri Lanka at home.

I doubt they'll be in the top 5 by 2021 if this trend continues. They may even lose to England too.

Height of negativity

Pakistan test team is much much better than SA, WI SL etc.

Plus economically ICC will earn more in PAK matches than in NZ and SA matches

That's true.
Look at how badly they got thrashed in India and they even lost to Sri Lanka.

SA are minnows in Asia.

At least Pakistan doesn't lose by an innings and 200 runs in SENA.

Bangladesh has improved as a test side

They won tests against England and Australia drawing the series against both. They even won a test in SL in SL.

Yes,Afghanistan loss was humiliating but that doesn't make Afghanistan a better test side than Bangladesh. Afg were thrashed by West Indies, the same team was defeated 2-0 by BD in BD.

In my opinion, both Bangladesh and Afghanistan should be part of the next WTC

Pakistan is not a better Test team than South Africa and certainly not a "much" better team than Sri Lanka.

And regarding the OP,

Yes. Bangladesh should be playing the next Test championship. Agree they lost to Afghanistan but I can say with some certainty that if Afghanistan wins the toss and bats first in Asia, they will give
every team (barring India) a run for their money.

Aus is at no 5 on ICC test rankings table while SA is struggling quite a lot. Irrespective of anything the biggest question for me will always be how will the test statistics be impacted by it. Its easier to perform against WI, Afg, Ireland etc than top teams so what will happen to the exaggerated stats of certain players by regularly playing against comparatively weaker teams.

Also will it mean that Pak wont be playing against Eng, Aus etc at home when they have beaten both and have whitewashed them not too long ago at home.

Not true. Afghanistan just don't have what it takes to challenge other sides.

Pakistan is not a top team but in Asia they can play. Afghanistan's batting will make sure that the game doesn't get too close

Your team has one 1 test match in last 12 months. How is it better than SA?

SA was playing most of the cricket at home with the exception of Ind tour while Pak has just played one test series at home in last 12 months.

Its a shame ICC's points and test rankings doesnt take into account the away and home season and that effects the complexion of the rankings big time when one team is playing its home season while other is playing the away season.

Well they have the second best spin attack for Asian conditions. They've also got a few handy batsman like Rahmat, Asghar, Shahidi etc. What else do you want to win Test matches in Asia ?

And how have you come up with the conclusion that they have the second best spin attack for asian conditions FOR TESTS?

So you think SL, Pak or Ban have better spin bowling attacks than Afghanistan ? How ?

SL probably. Bangladesh maybe.

SL more times than not beat SENA at home.

Also, how many matches have Afghanistan even played?

How can you even say that they have the second best spinners??

Stop looking at their inflated ODI stats because those tell you nothing useful

Sri Lanka defeated SENA on the back of one man, Rangan Herath. The first series they played at home after his retirement , they got swept 3-0 by England, who are a big average team when touring the SC. Their current spin attack is mediocre to say the least.

Bangladesh ? Lol. They got outplayed by the Afghan spinners at home. Not sure where you're going.
