Should Fawad Alam make a comeback as a Test specialist?

Fawad Alam may not be a world class talent, a top quality player or a rising star but a player of his ability and experience can always do a good job in the test side for Pakistan.

IMO, he was unfairly dropped from the test side after making 160 runs as a opener. He was dropped from the test side based on his T20/ODI performances.

Fawad Alam should always have been considered as a test specialist especially in series which took place on sub continent pitches.

He has a lot of experience on his side now, his stats at domestic level are very impressive and he is a handy bowler. He scored a ton and with lack of batting depth in the test side; he must be considered for the test squad in the future.

What do you PP’ers think; will he return to the test side or is his International career pretty much over? Is he good enough as a test specialist?

If he is performing well, he should get selected. He was a great batsman before and Pakistan missed a trick by not picking him more regularly.

As for the "younger alternatives" - let's talk when they average 55 in FC cricket with 30+ centuries. These Saads and Sauds have done nothing so far in QEA 19.

Seems crazy that a guy with a nearly 56 average and 31 centuries in FC can't find a way onto the Test team.

It would be the worst thing if they did call him up now at nearly 34 and if he happens to struggle then all the snobs will come out with "see, he doesn't have the technique to play internationally" even though he is just well past his peak at this point.

Probably still worth a shot over Azhar or Shafiq though.

It's been quite heavily suggested that Fawad's ongoing exclusion isn't purely for cricketing reasons.

He has shown in his career that he can score big consistently.

He's been consistent this season and is currently rated 6 in this season's highest run scorer. In Shaa Allah he finishes strong with a hundred tomorrow else in my eyes he's done his job already.

Lots and lots of noise surrounding him these days especially on ex-players Youtube channels.

Need to be patient in introducing someone back but i think the SL and Bangladesh series is an excellent starting/comeback platform for him.

What has age got to do with it . He’s 34 has a good 4-5 years left in him if he can continue performing .
If your in the team on merit age should not come in to it .

I believe it is high time that fawad alam is selected for the Pakistaan test team. He has worked very hard to earn the right to beclown himself in front of Anderson, Broad, Stokes and Woakes.
