Should Haris Sohail retire from LOIs to prolong his Test career?

Haris Sohail clearly has some serious injury problems and it is only a matter of time that he will get injured again. The problem is, he is a crucial player in our Test plans after the retirements of Misbah and Younis. In the One Day team however, he is not that desperately required.

Would it be a good idea that he retired from limited overs cricket so that he can play maximum amounts of Test matches? This would ensure that he will remain injury free, as we do not play that many test matches anyway.

At most, he can be considered for major ODI tours abroad like the South Africa series at the end of this year.

He's 29, not 39.

No way should he retire in any format just yet.

I think he's needed in the LOI team, already proving (when he plays) that he's needed as one of the most consistent batsmen.

No

2019 World Cup is Haris Sohail’s.
2023 World Cup is Babar Azam’s.

no one in this time and age is going to retire from LOIs to play in tests... that too when Pak plays quite a few tests to make any kind of career out of it.. Many fans hardly notice when there is a test being played.. he is around 30 when the batsmen are supposed to be at their peak.. there is no reason for him to retire.. if anything he will retire from tests to focus on LOIs as tests can be more stressful on his injury prone body

Indeed bro :) I am pretty confident Sarfraz and Talat will come good too.
Bas Mian ji retire ho jayen aur blessed in all facets ka bowling action clear na ho.

I saw a recent interview of Sarfraz where he said he’s been working on his batting and we should expect to see an improvement. Happy days :snack:

Yes your best batsman against pace should retire so that hafeez can open. This is the reason Pakistan can't have good things, no one appreciates them. The problem with us is we don't know how to utilize people to their maximum potential. Anyone who saw haris in New Zealand could see that he doesn't have any problem playing pacers in the power play but struggles against spinners. So coach should see that instead of haris coming in 4-2 in 3 overs he should open with fakhwr and provide a platform. He will not be as slow as Azhar bc haris has strokes against pacers

No should play odis and test. Such a shame we have wasted so many years of his and also due injuries as well.

Spot on. Haris should open or come at nr 3. Babar actually struggles against good pace and bounce

What? He's a 29 year old batsman, not a 33 year old fast bowler. "We're worried about his fitness, so lets make sure we use him in the strenuous 5 day format, not the one day format"

yawn..he'll sink away into mediocrity at the rate he's going..the hype on this forum for this guy is just unbelievable..
