Should ICC allow teams to select 18 players in their squad for ICC events?

I feel a squad of 15 limits the options for a team, the success of the squad is strictly dependent on the 11 players where the vast majority of them are in form and full of confidence. With a squad of 15, a team can afford to carry 1-2 out of form, struggling players.

However as we saw in this WC, Pakistan had around 6-7 struggling players who were struggling for form, confidence and this included 1 player on the bench i.e. Fakhar and this meant the team management did not really have much of a choice but to stick to the out of form, short of confidence players. If Pakistan had a squad of 18, maybe this would have given the team more options and would have helped the team get out of the rut they found themselves in.

Of course they should. But they won't because ICC are very cheap and won't like having to bear the cost of 30 more players (in a 10 team tournament). Also, in Pakistan's case, we'd still waste the spots by adding legends like Zaman Khan.

Nothing would have changed, it would have ended more gaaliyaan to more players…. With same number in squad, Pak won 92 WC

Wasim Akram, Misbah ul Haq, Shoaib Malik in the Pavilion show commented that for a long almost two month ICC tournament that also in tough hot humid weather conditions in India where each team is responsible for playing 9 matches and travelling to different parts of India, the ICC should have allowed teams to bring 18 players so that players could be rested, bench players tried and in case teams had out of form players, they could have immediate options to try alternatives

Funny thing is that even if it was 18 instead of 15, our reserves would still be Abrar Ahmed, Mo Haris and Zaman Khan.

9 games is a big strectch to have 15 players. 16 or 17 players should do.
Usually bilaterals have a squad of 16.

I have always felt 15 is too low a number in a long tournament
1- back up batsman
2- wicketkeeper
3- all-rounder
4- spinner
5 and 6- two fast bowlers

So yeah, ideally 17 or more should be allowed

Pakistan squad could have been 180 players, wouldn't make a difference as babar would still pick the same 🤡 he's been picking in the team

Yea. agreed. 18 players. What is their problem teams carrying a few extra players. NZ looks hopeless with so many injuries
