I feel a squad of 15 limits the options for a team, the success of the squad is strictly dependent on the 11 players where the vast majority of them are in form and full of confidence. With a squad of 15, a team can afford to carry 1-2 out of form, struggling players.
However as we saw in this WC, Pakistan had around 6-7 struggling players who were struggling for form, confidence and this included 1 player on the bench i.e. Fakhar and this meant the team management did not really have much of a choice but to stick to the out of form, short of confidence players. If Pakistan had a squad of 18, maybe this would have given the team more options and would have helped the team get out of the rut they found themselves in.
