If they do, they have learnt nothing from his past.

Lol, He himself doesn't want to play test cricket for Pakistan.

Yeah select him for a home test series on the patta pitches. He himself will take retirement again from cricket. :inti

Horses for courses.

Don’t pick him on Asian tracks, or in red ball Tests in Australia.

But in England, New Zealand, South Africa, the West Indies and in pink ball Tests in Australia he will outperform any other Pakistani and win matches that would not otherwise be win by Pakistan.

In those specific conditions you just go with:

7. Shadab Khan
8. Faheem Ashraf
9. Mohammad Amir
10. Hasan Ali or Naseem Shah
11. Shaheen Shah Afridi

I don't see why not.

Shaheen has proven to be a flop against teams that matter. Just look at his performances against AUS, ENG etc. Pujara who can barely handle Ranji bowlers was spanking Shaheen like a village trundler.

Given the deplorable state of Pakistani quick bowling, I cannot see why they shouldn't make use of Mohd Amir - who himself is a poor man's Ishant Sharma.

Man, this thread as well as the Shaheen in county had me worked up enough to look up his test career.

The dude averages 40+ against AUS, NZ and ENG and currently out of his depth against a past-it Pujara. LMAO.

How's he talked up so much? He's literally 2 levels below Siraj. Amir deserves his chance!

Agreed with the structure of the team. Hasan Ali not sure though as he seems more of a subcontinent type bowler.

Have some patience with Shaheen. He is just a 22 year old baby in International cricket. I mean this is the excuse you hypocrites use for some players when they flop initially. Siraj and Bumrah are 6 years older than Shaheen and he is already doing better than them in LOIs. He will learn from this experience and improve himself in tests too. It is only a matter of time. :inti

Shaheen isn't special in tests. He is probably the fourth best test pacer from Asia after Bumrah, Shami and Siraj.

Amir can definitely make a comeback especially for SENA tests.

This chapter is getting boring and should be closed for good

Lol. Indian trolls are lively today :)). Noone cares about domestic performances. County cricket is just a holiday. Shaheen is the best pace bowler in Asia. Amir's time has gone and a fit and firing Naseem is superior as proven against Australia.

Siraj has won his team test matches in Gabba and Lords. Shaheen, Naseem or even Amir are also behind him. Amir can be a good option in SENA conditions though as he can get the bowl to swing upfront unlike Shaheen who generally bowls way wide outside off like he did to the extremely mediocre Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes in England in a 278 run chase in 4th inning. :inti

Again as I said elsewhere - if our much vaunted and hyped fast bowling was any good then we wouldn't let England chase 277 in the 4th innings and rookie Zak Crawley score 267, delivered our worst ever series bowling performances in Australia and New Zealand in 2019 and 2020, failed to dismiss WI tailenders costing us the series, and fail to take 20 wickets in any Test vs Australia at home.

What have these young sensations who are apparently more deserving of a place done ? Hasnain was called for chucking, Naseem hasn't performed to expectations, Rauf has already broken down after a few FC matches, Hasan blows hot and cold and less said about Musa the better.

It's time fans get real about our pace bowling stocks. Shaheen, Amir (in certain conditions) and Abbas/Hasan (in specific conditions) are the best we have in Tests.

Shaheen is heavily overrated in tests. Time is on his side but thus far he has underwhelmed in some of the most bowler friendly conditions too.

Who says Amir wants to play test cricket? He is skipping the rest of the county season to go and play CPL. He also never bothered to turn up for QeA despite having nothing else to do.

If he is bowling well, then sure why not.

Pick him.

Select the strongest players who are in the best form.

I think Amir should play white ball cricket only. That's where he is normally at his best.

He quit from tests when he was needed. No need to bring him back

If he is available and now Misbah is gone, why not . If not test, we definitely need him for WBC.

If he is fit and has passion, then he can be good. Though Pakistan should rotate the fast bowlers properly , not only Amir but all the bowlers , proper rest and play in selective matches and formats.

'most bowling friendly conditions'. Which ones?

I hope you aren't referring to Australia. Those were pure batting paradises. Yasir Shah averaged almost 50 with bat!!.Cummins averaged 32 with ball (compared to Shaheen's 36)

I hope you are not referring to NZ either. Very flat pitches if you watched the series. Boult averaged 30, southee 35. This just doesn't happen to these 2 in 'some of the most bowling friendly conditions'.
Factor in too that they were bowling to Azhars, Haris Sohail and Fawads.

He has been great in tests so far in tests considering his age and inexperience ( thrown into the deep end, even till now has just 6 1st class games apart from internationals).

The shortcomings in his record so far are expected. Fans are just losing perspective in their evaluations just because of how talented he is.

Why not. We have many bad people running the country, in cricket administration and set up, ex fixers proudly playing PSL, so why should we bring our ego in the way by singling out Amir!

Yes I have checked the stats against top nations and also their impactful performances.

Siraj has done way better, start watching tests, too much of ipl isn't helping you.

Don't quote me when you are in a mood to talk to yourself. There is cricket outside IPL, get used to it. :91:

Siraj is a good bowler but I was talking about their stats. Current stats suggest that 22 year old baby Shaheen is better than 28 year old Siraj. In LOIs he is already ahead. :inti

Siraj has better stats and impact against top opposition.

I can explain you how to do a query for top nations on statsguru, if you are too much into stats and don't have much technical background.

You should make up your mind first. Who won India the test match in Gabba? Siraj or Pant? If you are going to say both, then don't forget it was Gill who played a magnificent inning of 91 and laid the foundation. He hardly gets any credit for it by fans like you. :inti

Yeah guide me now please and don't forget to point me towards the impact column. Please proceed. I am waiting.... :inti
