Should PCB have gone ahead to organize Asia cup without India.
BD and SRL are free and they would have had no issues coming to Pakistan.

Could have invited Afghanistan and couple of other Asian teams as well.

Asia cup needs to be scrapped.

At least for the next few years.

It sets a bad precedent. India will definitely play Asia cup. Why conduct it without them? We can wait for maybe half and year, should not be an issue. We have enough commitments right now to keep ourselves busy.

Nothing stopping them organising a tri-series but don't call it the Asia Cup.

Agree with others that it needs to be scrapped anyway. The days of Jayasuriya, Tendulkar and Akram duking it out are long gone. Too many mediocre teams are in the mix now and there's no meaning to the event. Everyone knows India are the best right now and we don't need a tournament to prove that.

We need to find out who's 2nd best though - Bangladesh or Sri Lanka, or the dark horse Afghanistan. :batman:

Considering the humiliation we suffered at the hands of India in Asia Cup 2018, we should definitely try to organize the tournament without India.

Moreover, the Asia Cup has become a pointless tournament. India is lightyears ahead of other Asian teams and wins the tournament with ease with 50% effort.

Not good enough for IPL( both skills and marketing wise)

There are good batters in SL and Bangladesh both. But they are just like Indian batters. Same skillset. Conventional and good against spin. Not really power hitters. IPL demand certain specific skill sets from 4 foreign players they play.

They should have.

Would have been an extremely competitive tournament unlike the last two editions. :)

Indians would have been like:

Come on cap, can you blame them?

When was the last time these co-Asian teams actually beat us in this tournament? Played 12 games against everyone from Pakistan to Hong Kong , from Bangladesh to UAE and are still unbeaten.

Won't really blame them for trying to play against competent teams like the ones you support as a proud Brit. :root

I agree India is really good right now. But the 2012 and 2014 Asia cups were not too long ago, and they were competitive.

2012 and 2014 were different stories TBH.

SL was still a "top" team with Sanga, Mahela, Dishan etc and Pak still had their bowling loaded with Gul, peak Afridi and not to forget Ajmals's sneaky right arm. :ashwin

Now it's just teams competing to secure that losing finalist spot. :)

Your last statement was what I was originally referring too that they lack specific skills to get picked for IPL(not to mention they lack charisma to be marketed as top player in India). Most of franchise pick players for their marketing aura as well. Out of date Gayle will still be a better pick than some of SL players, mostly due to marketing aspect.

I disagree strongly about "lack of charisma" statement as well. I support Mumbai and our best ever player and most popular player behind Sachin is Malinga.

Again you’re proving my point. Mumbai Indians continue to pick Malinga for whatever role that fits with MI, cause Malinga have strong bond with us Mumbai fans(same goes for Pollard)
Now, tell me which current SL players would rightly fit into MI or any other squad? I can’t even name one SL player from their squad(back in the days when everyone knew about Jayasuriya, Vaas, Murali, Ranatunga, Malinga, Jaya, Sanga etc) let alone one with superstar aura.

Come on Captain. That is not a fair criticism. India have hosted and played with BD, Sri Lanka and even played a test match with Afghanistan. And we actually won a few matches against Sri Lanka. In fact after those wins there was thread going around here that Do runs against them count?

My point of questioning was simple, India organized Nidadhas trophy with BD and SRL.
Why PCB is not going into that direction and organizing more tri-series and quadrangular series with other Asian Teams bar India ?
It will bring more cricket back to Pakistan, give more confidence to non asian teams in future about touring Pakistan and off course generate revenue.
PCB is second biggest board in Asia in terms of revenue, market pull and footprint in terms of the number people watching cricket. They should use it and we get to see some quality international cricket within Asia.

India didn't organise Nihadas!

It was organized by SL board as celebration of independent of SL.

It would have been a failed tournament. Honestly speaking, either WT20 tournament needs to happen only once in four or Asia Cup should happen once in four years.

How much budget does Pakistan spend on their fellow Bangladeshis in PSl?

How are Pakistanis related as "fellow Bangladeshis"? Also what does PSL have to do with international games? I was under the impression Asia cup was an international competition between Asian countries, but perhaps I am wrong, since I don't follow cricket that closely any more.

Cpt. Rishwat ignore that post that was in reply to another poster mentioning we don’t select Sri Lankan’s and bd players in IPL.
Regarding your point to feel superior against white teams that’s factually wrong we play a lot of cricket against other Asian teams.

So should the Asia cup not be a priority for India as it is the one tournament where being Asian is paramount importance?

Naw we need Indian money. Without India Asian cup wont be profitable. Plus we can’t call it a Asia Cup if the king of Asia is not there to play in it.

Guys - keep the discussion related to the topic

Which king do you know of who abdicated their throne and still got to be called king?
