Should playoffs (qualifiers and eliminator) be used in World Cup 2019 instead of semi-finals?

As Most of You will be aware that in 2019 WC Their will be only a single pool of 10 teams and all teams will play each other once meaning that one team will play 9 matches and their will be a Total of 45 Matches in the group stage.

Those who watch t20 leagues will be aware that Play-offs are widely used in almost all the leagues except Big bash.

Play-offs provide the table-toppers a much more fairer chance to qualify for the final than SFs do! even if the table toppers have a bad day in Playoffs they still get a second Chance unlike SFs\

For those who are unaware with the format of Playoffs

Playoff-1 (Qualifier 1)
1st vs 2nd

Playoff-2 (Eliminator)
3rd vs 4th

Playoff-3 (Qualifier 2)
Winner of Playoff-2 vs Loser of Playoff-1

Final
Winner Play-off 1 vs Winner Play-off 3


This Format means a fairer competition and much more meaning to the pool games as teams will strive for top 2 even if they are in top 4 and it becomes nearly impossible for a team to fluke their way to the title and the term "Peaking at the right time" is much less effective here.

I like the concept in leagues but for some reason it won't feel right in International Cricket. Semi Finals and Finals are traditions of the sport

Play offs are for losers who are scared of being knocked out, Real Deal is Semi Finals and Final.

In theory the table toppers already get a better chance of a final berth by playing the 4th placed team, whereas 2nd usually plays 3rd.

You could argue playing the 4th place team is a bigger advantage than having two goes at it, vs 2nd and then potentially 3rd place teams via the play off method.

There is a difference between international events and premier leagues. Premier leagues have around 10+ matches so it's okay if the better sides get a second chance.

But ICC e events are shorter and no teams should get a spot in the final after losing a second round match. Its about nerves

Its a lot easier to perform over 10 games. The pressure is off. You know theres other chances.

Theres a reason teams like South Africa have failed in every major Semi Final. Why would you want the whole competition to be like a bilateral series?

The point of Semis and Finals is to really differentiate the men from the boys. Who can perform when theres only 1 chance. 1 small mistake can cost your whole team for another 4 years.

Absolutely no way should SF's ever be scrapped. They define great teams and they define great players.
