The horse, as they say, has bolted.

Too late to close the barn door.

But the questions need to be asked - Should PCB have held this tournament given the logistical issues involved and the reputational risk at stake?

Hindsight is 20/20

IPL guys spent millions on getting the right help for the bio-secure environment.

We spent 30 Rupees probably.

The idea of hosting the tournament wasn't wrong, it was the management. It could have been handled better.

Depends entirely on how well they can maintain the bio bubbles and whether there was an option of giving the vaccine earlier. The decision to hold the tournament was not wrong per se but implementation of rules and procedures to maintain lower risks was key. But good and brave effort nevertheless.

Holding it was understandable but strict enforcement of the bubble was the bare minimum they needed to do

It was a good idea but honestly even I overestimated the competence of Pakistan Cricket Board. The entire blame lies with the organizers for not strictly enforcing the bio secure bubbles. This PSL has tarnished our already weak reputation. Heads need to roll and people should be held accountable. This has been a disaster, no two ways about it.

Pakistan has apparently controlled Covid a lot better than India. Given that, if India can organize a series with crowds involved, Pakistan weren't wrong at all to do the same. Logically.

Should the SA series have taken place? That was conducted successfully.

What about the domestic comps? They were done successfully as well.

So, yeah it was 100% right for the PSL to have taken place!!

Can't take example of IPL yet since last edition was played in UAE. It's all together different thing to organize IPL, PSL like event in India-Pak due to over population and careless attitude towards Covid-19.
But yes, questions would be raised more on PCB if India successfully organizes IPL next month. PSL fate should be a lesson for BCCI that you can't take any bio-secure breach lightly.

Of course it shouldn’t have happened. Pakistan people are jahil and didn’t even take Covid 19 seriously. So many fools in the crowd not wearing a mask while doing cringeworthy Head and Shoulders moves. Then you have Zainab Abbas who is not wearing a mask interviewing celebrities like Mahira khan, also not wearing a mask and then Zainab is mingling with the players. Of course, Covid outbreak was going to happen.

The idea of holding the tournament was fine.

What could have protected it is if they instituted steep penalties for anyone breaking the bio-secure bubbles-i.e. you forfeit your remaining PSL salary and you go home after a 14 day quarantine...at your expense.

You might get one person who breaks it, and you make them an example. No one else breaks the bubble.

As for the audiences-if you are trying to protect against COVID, then there is no reason to have them!!! My dad went to the Super Bowl here in America and while I'm sure the NFL would have loved to fill the stands with 70,000 people...they didn't out of trying to protect against COVID!!! If the premier sports league on the planet, with the most money at stake wont' do it-why is PSL any different?

We just dont have the discipline - Wasim is right about self-policing for this to work.

When you are organizing entertainment in such a troubling time, you need to make sacrifices.

In the NBA, most teams do not allow fans in the stadium, commentators ARE NOT on site and are calling the games remotely, players are wearing masks while on the bench etc

But we were so hell bent on filling the stands, having those pitch side interviews with celebrities, hosting dignitaries ON THE FIELD giving post match awards, I mean who came up with that?

Could we not sacrifice a few interviews and advert moments and simply focus on the cricket?

While those may not be the contributing factors to the outbreak in COVID cases, what they do reflect is the overall attitude of the PCB and the handling of the overall situation. A complete farce.

Depends on the level of confidence folk had regarding all protocols being followed, simply hoping for the best would have been a bad move

As others have mentioned, ignorance comes into this and this thinking that we will be ok, it won't affect us.

People being interviewed outside of the bubble, then those people doing the interviewing mingling with players.

People outside of the bubble approaching the players on match days. People being interviewed saying they had high-fived players.

It's a culture thing where some seem to think they are above the rules or the law.

Another thing is players families deciding that they too would enter the bubble. What was the need!

Players have told me that some of the players wives and families were coming and going from and to the team hotel, mixing with members of the public and also heading out to friends places for meals etc.

What bubble was this?

It was the right decision to host the PSL. PCB and the franchises have just messed up badly.

It was the right decision taken by the wrong people. Wasim and Mani are incompetent and clueless, and they cannot host a tournament like PSL in these times without goofing up in spectacular fashion.

Now have a interview with all those who are responsible for all this embarassment and name the show HAMARAY VILLAINS.
