The first and foremost criteria of appointing a captain is that he should make the team on 100% merit and be in the right age bracket where he can potentially lead the side for many, many years. When you look at this Pakistan team, it eventually narrows down to Babar and Imam. Some will argue about Fakhar, but his batting is a lottery and he is already 30. He may not necessarily be in the team in 2023, but Babar and Imam will unless something bizarre happens.

Few months ago, I had no doubt in my mind that Babar should be the next captain, but Imam has emerged as a serious contender as well. He might be a better option because he appears to be a mentally tougher character.

I wont mind Imam as captain and Im very picky :rondu

Even though Sarfraz is not a good captain and needs to go eventually, I don’t think removing him in a tournament is going to resolve anything at all. He needs to go after the World Cup.

But, is Misbah among top few Captains? Once Malik won 12 ODI's at one go and WY still has one of the better W/L record, Javed as well .... Also, you have missed the whole point - Misbah did well as batting Captain, because he had a very settled batting unit for his fortress......

By "own" people, you need to see Misbah & before him Inzi's squad - in short, players that are trusted & reliable ..... for their loyalty, won't back stab, and neither ambitious. For example, Afridi had a tango with most of his Captains since Akram & Inzi .... because he was "ambitious".

After reading the bold line, I am scared to teach you something - won't dare this time.

This is our Test batting lineup right now

Imam
Fakhar
Shan
Azhar
Asad
Babar
Sarfraz

If you can't accept that Imam is better than at least 5 of them, then lets not discuss anything.

One of Windies and Pakistan will make the semies - that's just how I feel. In big tournaments consistency isn't always important. You just need a few players to perform in the games that really matter - both Pakistan & West Indies have those kind of players. Australia is a good team but I think our bowlers can do a number on them!

I don't want to argue but feel sorry for you. Its okay, soon you'll feel like the rest of us. Hopeless.

Misbah is among the top captains in Pakistan's history. Emphatic YES. And now you're making excuses that because he had a settled batting lineup that misbah succeeded in his fortress. Who developed that settled batting lineup? And did his settled batting lineup won him the second test against England in 2012 where he had to defend 140 something or when his settled batting lineup scored 99 in the third test?

Misbah had his flaws but to suggest that Pakistan cannot have a good batting captain is ludicrous. Won't even entertain this logic anymore.

Don't be upset bro - just skip the England match if you can't stand us losing. Start watching WC from June 7 against Sri Lanka and you will have a much better time! Against England all I want to see is our bowlers build on today's performance. I wish for Amir to take 1 wicket, for Hassan to get among the wickest as well and for us to find our 3rd bowler whether it be Wahab/Shaheen/Hussnain. Also want to see one of the top 3 batsman get a big score and the lower order to get some hitting under their belt.

We will need all those skills against Sri Lanka.

Yar the way we are playing we will lose against Sri Lanka as well :)) I'd drop Wahab and play Shaheen. Atleast he is not a TTF!

As mentioned in the above post, Sarfraz was just fortunate to have Fakhar and Hasan Ali in their form of their lives during that tournament.

Your posts are just as pathetic to all those who blind follow Sarfraz. Even if he lost all 9 games in this WC, you would still defend him. That's my definition of a "useless" poster.

Let all the games play out before making useless threads to 'sack the captain after first loss'. What kind of a lame suggestion is that? Give some credible solutions instead of just criticizing.. I know your hero Imad is not the captain, accept the fact and wait for the tournament to be over i will be with you if we don't perform to our expectation.

I think he is playing the last tournament as a captain and honestly, he is not exceptional as a wicket-keeper batsman either. I don't see any dramatic changes happening in Pakistan cricket neither we have some world beaters as back up.

I think we will see Fawad Alam coming in tests with Misbah like luck.

Last match defeat will certainly put end on his odi captaincy
but he should resign any way if Pakistan win or lose last match.

He should be sacked no matter what happens on Friday. Other than the start of the NZ game , what has been so good about his captaincy anyway? Pakistan cricket needs to move on from rubbish players like Sarfaraz.

I have no issues with Babar or Amir being made captain.
