Should the Asia Cup be discontinued and replaced by the Austral-Asia Cup?

Adding AUS/ NZ will certainly make things more competitive and it will give ICC a good tournament every 2 or 4 years.

Asia Cup has lost it's spark. It doesn't even have a stable format.

Plus if matches are held in AUS, they can attract crowds of asian descent especially in Indo-Pak matches and earn revenue. Every tournament should have a different host. It's a big boost for countries like AFG who will play more against the big boys.

This. Sad to say. I personally would love such a tournament but Australia would personally feel they are wasting time (especially with Afghanistan, to a lesser extent with Pakistan and Bangladesh).

All they want to play these days is a series with India.

Certainly nobody cares about the Asia Cup anymore. There's only one interesting match and logistically it's always going to be complicated by Pak not being able to visit India and vice versa.

Since I am a sucker for more Indo-Pak matches I prefer the current arrangement. In 2018 edition we could have had 3 Indo-Pak fixtures if you guys had made the final. In Austral-Asia Cup arrangement we will play each other mostly just once.

We never ever cared about winning the finals in that Nidahas Trophy also but that snake dance probably charged up things a bit and brought the peak Dhoni outside of Karthik that day.

Make it a five team tournament with Aussies and Kiwis included and the venue should not just be in Asia.

Austra-Asia Cup makes no sense. This isn't football. Asia Cup is a low-key tournament that works as a low-key tournament. It's not meaningless but most people don't care too much about it either. It happens every two years and it serves as good practice for the upcoming World Cup or T20 World Cup. It works the way it is.

Great idea, Asia Cup and SENA(+W) Cup, name the SENAW Cup after some legend from one of those countries like Viv. Every 2 years the finalists of Asia Cup and SENAW Cup can play in a tournament to decide the overall champs, host venue can be alternated between Asia and SENAW biennially. Nature of final 4 can be either double round robin followed by final or #1 vs #2, #2 vs #1 SF (3 match series) followed by a final 3 match series or smething like that.

I dont know why few fans have issue with Asia Cup. I think its a great quad tournament and gives a team like Afghanistan the chance to compete with good teams. Also, it allows us to see Pakistan and India every year now that we dont have bilaterals anymore.

Look no matter how much we hate each other but a Pakistan v India match is a top drawer and we all love to see it!

The quality of asia cup isn't the same coz Pakistan and srilanka are nowhere near what they used to be.
Bangladesh has beaten pakistan in the last two asia cups, that explains a lot.

Asia cup 2000 was good in Dhaka.

As other members stated, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are not nowhere near like they used to be in the past with the likes of Murali, Vaas, Jayasuriya, Akthar, Razzaq, Afridi, Inzy, Younis etc.

Afridi - never scored a WC 50.
Inzi - averaged 23 in 5 World Cups.
Some overrated cricketers there.
Razzaq was a liability in the field with poor fitness.
