Most teams have 9-10 games remaining but it doesn't look like there will be any football anytime soon. Should the season be called off or should it continue even if that's during the latter part of this year? Or even later...

Dont think we will have any sporting event this year, including T20 WC. I know in bigger scheme of things, sports is trivial but as a sports fan this is very upsetting indeed.

One proposal is to play matches in July in London/Midlands..three matches a week.

Realistically..I don’t think it will continue.

Absolutely no reason. Stop it now - and get the top 5 around a table to decide who wins!

Theres absolutely no way to have big crowds or even small crowds anywhere, closed door maybe but its to early to say.

I don't get the behind closed doors view because wouldn't the players still be at risk....

The situation doesn't look like improving and if it doesn't then can it not continue from the current point when all this goes away even if its after a while? either that's an option or making the PL null/void

maybe there expecting them to play keeping the social distancing rule of 2 meters.

Will be played in July. This should be gone by then, no way can government in the UK continue a lock down in the English summer, people will just come out and even riot.

It'll be played to completion when deemed safe to do so. May take a while but tt'll happen.

Cancelling/voiding is not even a remote possibility as the subsequent legal cases and regulatory nightmare would case FA heads to spin, and there's absolutely no guarantee 2021 wouldnt be affected anyway.

Season has to continue. Perhaps the season after may not even happen or have an altered calendar but it makes absolutely zero sense to end an 80 percent completed season for the sake of one that hasnt even began.

How can it continue? 500 people a day dying in the country and people will want to play football?

Premier League warns PFA of £762m penalty if season is voided

The Premier League faces a £762m financial penalty if the season does not resume, players have been told.

Such a penalty would apply if broadcasters demanded refunds on games they could not show, the league said during a conference call on Saturday.

During the call with the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA), the Premier League explained why it wants players to drop wages by 30%.

Clubs and players will discuss the plan with talks set to go into next week.

That is because the Premier League is not mandated to make such a decision and it has to be agreed by the players and coaches.

As well as the PFA, which is the players' union, representatives from the League Managers' Association - the managers' union - were also involved in Saturday's call, which was concluded in less than an hour with no agreement reached.

During the meeting, the league said the season will almost certainly be played behind closed doors if it resumes.

It also warned that, in addition to the penalties payable to broadcasters, hundreds of millions of pounds could be lost in sponsorship and matchday revenue because the season has been suspended.

The Premier League announced on Friday that it would ask players to take a 30% pay cut in order to protect jobs.

There are issues to be sorted out, though, as the PFA and leading agents think wage deferrals rather than cuts are preferable at this stage.

Premier League clubs have been told they could have to repay an estimated £340m to domestic and international broadcasters - even if the season resumes behind closed doors.
