They say horses for courses and if we consider that the Champions Trophy is hosted in England, Kohli should be the last one stepping in the plane.

Ajinkya Rahane in my opinion is an apt replacement. If his (Kohli's) current form is any indicator and his pathetic record in England not withstanding, Indian selection panel should consider a different captain. Rohit Sharma or Gambhir (in red hot form) should be the captaincy options.

A player in my opinion should not be in the team solely as a captain.

He should be strategically "rested" for team india's sake.

Can't even make runs in India in lower level of competition.

English ODI pitches have been flat for a long, long time. Have you not seen English cricket for...I dunno, like 5 years? lol

Must be a troll thread
It's one in all seriousness. His form has been dodgy since Australia series. Post injury he looks woefully out of touch and is getting out to dribble dobblies on flat decks.

If his past record in England is to be considered, it would be a wise decision to replace him with Rahane who is in smashing form.

Captaincy should not be the sole criteria for selection into the squad.

Kohli is a master of flat pitches. England generally has flat pitches, so no reason why he won't score some runs. But looking at scores (I don't watch) in IPL, it seems he is not able to score runs on flat tracks too now..

The likes of Anderson, Aamir, Wahab and company must be licking their lips at the prospect of bowling to Kohli in current form.

There is a very high chance that not only Kohli but entire Indian team won't be in CT. :uakmal Blessing in disguise for us.

Kohli will murder Wahab even if you cut off one of his arm and leg.
This must be an exaggeration. Not only Wahab but any dibbly dobbly bowler who could swing/ seam a few millimetres will have Kohli in trouble on current form.

Someone should play the comments of geofferey Boycott on Gambhir to OP when he played in England #rooobish

This thread surely cannot be a serious one?! You have seriously got to be kidding me. Kohli is the first pick in any LOI squad around the world.

Kohli will have a point to prove that he can play well in England too. Watch out for him if BCCI doesn't walk the talk.

Yes.

If he is included, he'll TOTALLLY THRASSSH us like he's been doing in EVERY tournament.

What a sad way to hide the pain, OP!

I dont how PP got this misconception but VK is not as bad a player of swing and seam and some at PP might make you think. When he toured England and was murdered by Anderson, at that time there was a techincal flaw in his batting which he corrected as seen in the Batting masterclass with naseer hussain during the England series. Moreover Kohli is not like our player who take a year to come back in form, he can easily turn it around in an innings, the dismissals of his in IPL have been unlucky rather than due to any technical flaws.

Another clueless innings today. While he did score a run-a-ball 50 odd, his innings absolutely killed the momentum of the run chase and in the process caused the other batsmen to take undue risks and lose wickets far too frequently.

He is in terrible form at the moment and his captaincy looks out of sorts. It would be a blunder on the part of selectors to include him in the squad.

Something tells me that he hasn't fully recovered from injury and woefully out of touch.

He is still their best ODI player and Kohli won't find as much lateral movement he did last time so it should be a good tournament for him

Awful thread. He's Indias maim hope in batting.

A very bizarre thread and posts, a very poor attempt at trolling or the weird subcontinent superstition which involves creating anti-jinx threads; not even fans who do not take Virat Kohli seriously will suggest that he should be dropped from the ODI team let alone you team India fans! My word

Check today's ipl scorecard. He couldn't chase 150 against Indian turdlers in Pune(high scoring venue).

He top scored, can't win a game single handedly every time; besides, he'll have a bit of help to in the Indian line up, RCB are just dreadful all round.

It makes me feel uncompatible and that says a lot :)) In ODI's he's in the top 5 in the world at the very least, it is beyond me how India would drop him from a high profile tournament even if he was in the worst form of his life. Besides, who would even replace him?

Doesn't have a replacement. Dhoni is out form so you can't relay on him. Also KL is out of the tournament.

If Virat doesn't fire ,don't see India winning the champions trophy.

Tbh I think India are ovverated in odis and underrated in tests.

Lol Kohli is a 1st choice player and has a guaranteed spot. No way is he going to miss out.

Same guy who says Umar Akmal is our most dynamic batsman.

You don't drop your best ODI batsman in the world

Why not??? :)))

Sometimes one has to go beyond past reputation, for selector to include a specific player in a squad for a major tournament. There are some questions to be answered - Is he in good form ? Is he fit ? What are his odds performing in the conditions/ pitches that would be presented during the course of the tournament ? IF captain, does he command the respect of his team members and inspire them to perform to their fullest potential?

Unfortunately for Kohli, the answers to most of these questions are in the negative and one cannot risk inducing such a player in a major tournament. And India of all teams are never short of batting talent. There are a lot of players available who are in red hot form and can be leveraged.

So replace him with who? Not like u got Viv Richard and Ricky ponting waiting for a chance in the domestics

There are many who are in good form. From the experienced lot you have Ajinkya Rahane, Gautam Gambit, Robin Uttapa and there are plethora of options from amongst the younger lot -Rishab Pant, Vora, Kishan, Samson and many more. All of them can outscore Kohli on current score.

The captaincy can be taken over by Rohit Sharma or Gautam Gambir (if selected) or for that matter Rahane.
