Should Wahab Riaz share the new ball with Mohammad Amir?

So Pakistan are lucky to have their strike bowler back and taking wickets. Massive plus for the remaining 5 games for them. The issue in all the games leading up to this is that Amir could be so much more effective if he is backed up by a good partner at the other end.

Hassan Ali failed with the new ball against West Indies and he isnt doing much right as a first change bowler either. Shaheen Afridi was a major let down with the new ball yesterday. That leaves us with the last seamer who actually has been our 2nd best bowler after Amir. Im not sure how often in Wahab's career he has been trusted with the new ball? He has always been that first, second change bowler. However I feel that the form he is finding nowadays should give him enough confidence to attack from the word go and possibly get some extra zip with the new ball.

Thoughts?

No. His use is with the older ball. To be honest Wahab has hasn’t had a bad tournament.

Hasan is best option. Even Imad imo

then he should have bowled right from the CT final triumph... All these years they gave the new ball to shaheen, UKS and AMIR... They dropped UKS, shaheen still learning on how bowl in these conditions....

Pakistan dropped Junaid khan also and they literally have nobody except hasnain who they will never try... It is such a stupid move to take hasnain instead of the pacer UKS or new ball partner junaid ....

Had they taken Abbas instead of UKS and junaid then it is a smart move, but now with hasnain they have no option but just rotate around with Amir, SSA, Hasan and wahab,,, Hasan and Wahab cannot bowl with the new ball...

Opening the bowler with a spinner has worked really well for us against non-Asian teams. So aside from Bangladesh & India, I would like us to open with spin on the other end. The think-tank will have a tough decision to make in terms of who to open with Amir, as both Hassan Ali & Wahab Riaz are not natural new-ball bowlers!

I don' think I've ever seen Wahab bowl successfully with the new ball. Then again I can't remember the last time I saw him given it. I think his action is all wrong to the right handers to be effective, he only swings it away, has no ability to bring it back in, so unless you are going with 3 slips, hard to see him being effective.

Most our bowlers only bowl decent with reverse swing
Case in question afridi the other day

He will waste it by bowling it too short.

It's always been an issue for him. The last time he bowled with the new ball in 2008?

I would take a chance with Hasnain to be honest. Give him a 3 over spell to partner Amir and then bring Wahab first change. If things are not working out then bowl Shadab or Hafeez somewhere in the first 15 overs.

Wahab can't, can only work in bursts with a semi new bowl.

The bowler who was needed to bowl the new bowl has been deselected from the team, Junaid Khan.

Wahab wouldn't be able to swing a new Kookaburra even if his life depended on it.

No. Onlyl two fielders outside the circle, recipe for disaster.
