Should we have a balanced approach? Yoyo tests and the venue?

I personally feel we really missed a trick by not selecting Imad Wasim as his score wasn't that bad (17.2) but if we see the conditions we really needed him.

Now we're stuck with fast bowling options and with that much heat it seems really difficult for fast bowlers.

And with Shadab injured we're going nowhere at the moment.

Seems like my concerns with yoyo were right after all.

You need a more proactive approach to improve fitness.

Not some my way or high way tests.

Yoyo test had nothing to do with this. Hafeez didn't fail it. Nor did every spinner in domestic bar Shadab

I disagree with picking players based on fitness alone. There needst o be some leeway. I'm not an Imad fan but he can be useful on these types of pitches. Nawaz and Shadab need to play together imo with one of the bowlers making way.

I'd have it

Faheem
Shadab
Nawaz
Amir
Hasan

That is in terms of batting order.

Exactly all here were crying our players are fittest we need to boot out hafeez and other no compromise on fitness those kind of dramas by Micky and inzi look what your yo yo heroes are doing dropping dollies
Skill out of window we just need fitness becuase it’s not cricket it’s Olympic race

But don't you think Hafeez would be liability with the bat but Imad could've replaced Faheem and Shadab could've been our other bowler.

I know today we would've been in a difficult situation as Shadab is injured but Haris also bowled few overs.

Hafeez and Imad were must on UAE tracks and give much more balance to side
Mighty Shaan is warming the bench

I agree with your lineup if somehow we'll win today. As it's a difficult score to chase.

But let's hope for the best.

Few months back it was all praises for Micky and Inzi for forcing strict fitness rules, and now they are not good coach and selector? Why are we blaming coach and selector for Imad's failed test? He was having problems with his knee since December, and probably couldn't workout as much to get his knee back to 100%. He knew Asia cup is coming but still decided to go to CPL, instead of working on his fitness. It wasn't like new fitness standards were set two weeks before the fitness tests of all players. I don't blame Micky and Inzi at all, if you have time to go party at CPL, make time to get back in shape.

Wasn't PP over the moon when Hafeez decided not to accept central contact and wasn't selected for Asia Cup? Fans wanted young players and now want Hafeez back?

I think you didn't read the post properly neither the thread status.

We need some balanced approach at the same time think about the place where we're going to play.

Clearly we're missing Imad's presence here and by no means 17.2 was a bad score as India's yoyo score is also 17.2 so is everybody injured?

The choice shouldn't be between an unfit Imad or noone else.

There are at least half a dozen spinners in domestic who merited a callup to a tournament played in UAE.

To take 6 pacers is criminal and Pakistan of all teams should know the conditions better. These surfaces call for spin heavy attacks.

Exactly that's the point.

But in my opinion in a tournament like this it would not have been a good idea to introduce a new spinner who'll need time to settle into international cricket.

Our best chance was trying new players against Zimbabwe but unfortunately we didn't do it.

This partnership has shown the importance of fitness. Running hard, lots of twos. Wouldn’t have been possible if these two had fitness like Imad.

I agree that's why balance was used here :)

And exactly as we can see Afghani pacers are struggling as well.

Plus our batsmen crumbled against India that yoyo test didn't help much you also need to improve your technique to play well.

Same goes for the strategy for these pitches Imad could've been useful IMO.

We won but it only indicates that Pakistan needs to play 2 actual spinners, with Malik and Haris taking up more of a role in the side....although I think Haris is overrated. He could easily be dropped to make way.

This thread sums up everything wrong with Pakistan cricket previously.

Thankfully, this management has shaken things up.

no compromise on fitness - Imad knows what he needs to do to get selected, if he can't get to that level than he shouldn't be selected

15 other players, including the 37 year old Malik, can pass the fitness test, than Imad needs to be able to as well

But he scored 17.2 and no body else could replace him in these conditions.

According to the conditions we could've given him another chance for the test.

I think next day after the test we just announced the team. After the match against Afghanistan we realised we're one spinner short even Ramiz asked this question to Sarfaraz.
