He is hyped as a brand

Pakistan’s biggest PSL signing was Finn Allen. The nation in general doesn’t have the vision to see it.
Brand matters more. More people want to watch Smith in PSL than Finn. Same was the reason behind Babar's signing in the BBL.

If you have signed him, make him your captain too.

Don’t even think about the initial stupidity of potentially appointing Rizwan as captain!

Good for the league.

Make him captain. Have him addressing the media.

I know test and T20 is different format but he is arguably the GOAT batsman after Bradman ( if you consider test supreme as most do)

If we can get him on a multi year deal it can be attractive to younger players who may want to sign up and play alongside Smith.

If our journalists have this opportunity to sell the league, and instead ask him dumb questions about biryani or if he enjoys playing with Babar, I will be very disappointed!!!

Smith
Joe root
Kane
Whatever you say these are the top players. And psl will benefit alot from them.

Smith should be the captain of stallionz with a young local player as his deputy (maybe saim if peshawar releases him or haris)

I agree w/ most of your takes brother, but I could not disagree here more. No PSL franchise should appoint a foreign captain. It’s the premier domestic competition and it’s here where you put your young players in leadership positions and develop them. Smith can be vice captain and guide a young player along.

I want to reiterate that I’m not asking for some old timer Pakistan journeyman to be captain but for that responsibility to be given to a young player, as we need to develop captains too.

E.g. I realise it won’t happen, but I’d love Quetta to give the captaincy to young Shamyl Hussain. Similarly I’d like Irfan Niazi, Arafat Minhas and Saim Ayub to all be given captaincy roles as I see them all having leadership potential.

Normally I would be against the idea of a foreign captain, but Steve Smith is one of the best tactical minds in world cricket. Someone who simply has a better and deeper understanding of the game than most players. So I think him being captain could be a masterstroke.

Steve Smith playing the PSL is excellent. He is high profile and it's not all about the hitting power. The overall presence, insight and the strategic thinking he will bring to the dressing room will be a big learning curve for the local boys.

If Sialkot can. They should make Smith captain for this season and groom a young local future captain.

Absolutely disagree that a PSL Franchise cannot appoint a foreign captain. They absolutely can, a local does not have a birth right for the role, they have to earn it via their performances and leadership skills
