Sindh First XI Head Coach Basit Ali: “Sindh squad is a well-rounded one with some of the biggest names of the province, proven domestic performers as well as young players that have an abundance of potential. I look forward to a hugely exciting and competitive domestic season where both our red-ball and white-ball squads can play the kind of cricket that is on modern lines and in sync with the approach of the Pakistan team management.”

Shehzar Muhammad's first class average is 22, list A average is 18 and the guy is already 29 years old. What is the purpose of selecting him.

Anyway, I hope Omair and Saud Shakeel get all the games in first xi.

Sindh possess the strongest batting lineup after Central Punjab. However they massively underachieved last season, not winning a single game and finished 5th which led to their coach being replaced.

Strengths: A powerful batting lineup so runs on the board ought not to be an issue. They've upgraded their lead spinner - Mohammad Asghar is more of a strike bowler than Kashif Bhatti.

Weaknesses: Sindh still haven't addressed their lack of pace. Sohail Khan, Tabish Khan, Mir Hamza and Anwar Ali lack the pace through the air necessary with the red Kookaburra ball. Mohammad Hasnain needs to start playing FC cricket as he's the quickest of the bunch.

Possible XI: Manzoor, bin Yousuf, S Ali, Shafiq, Alam, Shakeel, Sarfraz, Sohail, Tabish, Asghar, Hamza.
Players to watch: Omair bin Yousuf looks a solid top order batsman, while Saud Shakeel has a golden opportunity to stake a claim for a Test callup given Pakistan's middle-order issues.

This is what I mean how is he stil in the squad with an average of 22 !

Who are the young emerging player to watch out for in all three formats ??

It helps if you are Hanifs grandson. A terrible player who should not be anywhere near the team.

Such a mediocre squad. How are old, garbage cricketers like Shehzar Muhammad, Rameez Aziz and Rameez Raja Jr still in the system?

Karachi, despite being the biggest city in the country, hasn't produced a decent cricketer in a long, long time.

He’s the fitness trainer for most Sindh players. Guess that earns him some points. Not to forget his family backing.

First XI is great, second XI is definitely garbage.

Sindh lost 4 out of their first 5 matches in the T20 Cup, but have now won 4 in a row.

Seem to be peaking at the right time but can't see them pipping Northern to the title with their bowling strength.

Sindh has beaten the Balochistan, KP and Northern, the 3 strongest teams, in the business end of the tournament.

Round 4 - could this see Sindh emerge as title contenders?

Strange that they dropped Ashiq Ali, he picked up 11 wickets two matches ago. Unless he isn’t playing due to injury or something.

Sindh to me has the strongest squad among all the teams. For all the doom and gloom talks of talent in Karachi having dried up, most of the exciting young cricketers are coming from Karachi. This Sindh team will only continue to get stronger and Dominate domestics for years to come if they persist with the young talents and gradually phase out the oldies. If the corruption and Kabila system that has bee haunting Karachi Cricket for decades now is effectively reduced(cuz lets be honest, its not gonna completely die off, not in Pakistan) than we will see the re-emergence of Karachi in the national set up.

Serious question - do Sindh conduct ANY fielding practice before matches ?

Chances are going down in the slips you'd expect schoolboys to take.

Basit Ali it's easy to run mouth on YouTube but the fielding is as bad as it was in NT20.

sindh are a shambles this season, no way a team with the largest city, one of the most developed club cricket scenes, playing all their games in home conditions and barely any players away on international duty should be this weak.

there seems to be much deeper issues than just basit ali. losing sarfraz completely throws this team out of whack, they seem to have the driest reserves of young players and most surprisingly, no consistent spinners.

They have given chances to ibrar ahmed and dahani along with omair who is stil quite young

but to be honest none have cemented a spot in the first xi. omair has been disapointing with his lack of consistency, shahnawaz has done well but hasnt really lit up an innings, and abrar may have potential but probably needs 10 to 15 games to make a judgement.

thats before u get to guys like saad ali, asghar, hassan mohson, jaahid ali etc who have pbly all fallen down the pecking order this season.

I think dahani has cemented his place in the side i like his attitude.omair has been under scoring but hes young and will learn i really like him.as for ibrar i heard the ball is different from the second xi to first xi also the batting is much better so its challenging him which is good.asghar am not sure why he hssnt been given games he can control and end.

this new domestic setup with 6 teams is gonna be tough, i dont think omair will be a certain pick with khurrum manzoor available.

my point was more to do with how saud notwithstanding, all of sindhs major players, sarfraz, sharjeel, asad, sohail khan, fawad are the wrong side of 30, and by quite some margin.

Yes it should be tough and rightly so.that is true thier is quite alot of 30 year olds are they not getting enough chances in the u19s or is thier no talent in which you think thiers not much talent ?

im not sure which one it is tbh, guys like saifullah bangash and ammad alam flopped badly in second xi. no one really forced their selection into the first team, so that should be worrying for management. sindh should always be competing with the best in domestic cricket, given their resources and pedigree.

Sarfaraz has nothing to do with it, they have 2-3 young keepers coming through who they have themselves failed to promote. Keep an eye out for Ghazi Ghouri next season... hopefully.

Spinners - I’d say they’re more blessed than most with Asghar and Abrar Ahmed. You don’t see Central Punjab complaining about losing Zafar Gohar and Bilal Asif, or Balochistan complaining about not having Yasir Shah. Coming through the ranks are Aarish Ali Khan, Aamir Ali, Adeel Meo, and Aaliyan Mehmood. That’s a ton of spinners that they have deliberately chosen not to promote.

You need to make do with what you have and especially when you have some of the top U19 performers, there are absolutely no excuses.

Your batting lineup is catapulted by Saud Shakeel, the second best batsman in the tournament, Omair bin Yousuf, arguably the best U25 opener in the tournament, Sharjeel Khan, arguably the best opener of any age in the tournament, and Asad Shafiq, who is fresh off the back of being dropped from an international Test side and should easily be coached into scoring runs for fun at a domestic level.

You have the best pace attack in the tournament between Mir Hamza, Shahnawaz Dhani, and Tabish Khan, and a decent upcoming all rounder in Hassan Mohsin.

I would argue that Sindh is, on paper, the best side in this tournament. To consistently rank at the bottom despite that is absolutely shambolic.
