Islamabad: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and prime minister in-waiting Imran Khan’s decision to live in a smaller, simpler residence and not in the official Prime Minister’s House will save the exorbitant amount of Pakistani Rs1.85 billion spent annually on the PM House.

It will also send a positive message to the masses that their prime minister is not wasting public money on a life of luxuries and protocol.

Khan has, in a number of interviews and press conferences, made it clear that he will neither stay in the PM House nor enjoy VVIP protocol after assuming office.

The cricketer-turned politician has also vowed to ensure that his ministers and provincial chief ministers, where his party is in power, also follow principles austerity.

Pakistan’s PM House, though a relatively new building inaugurated by the former deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif only two decades ago when he was elected for a second term, is located on the main Constitution Avenue, covering an area of 135 acres, and luxuriously appointed.

The red-brick, heavily guarded building is modelled after the Mughal era palaces that housed royalty. The PM House features five spacious lawns, a fruit orchard, a number of swimming pools, a banquet hall, media and committee rooms. There are also 10 servants quarters, residences for security officers, staff and members of the Public & Works Department and police.

Inside the PM House, around 50 protocol officers work in their offices.

The security budget of the complex is around Rs980 million, while Rs700 million are allocated for PM House staff. Similarly, Rs150 million is spent annually on gifts for visiting dignitaries and guests, and Rs15 million on renovation and decoration.

According to the PTI leadership, four universities equalling the area of Pakistan’s top varsity — Quaid-e-Azam University (spread over 35 acres in the capital) — can be set up in the PM House.

Khan has, instead, indicated that he will utilise the PM House land for publicly beneficial purposes, such as education or health.

The PTI leader, in his post-election victory speech had stated his intention to set up house in the Minister’s Enclave rather than PM House. Later, it was also suggested that he should opt for the Speaker’s House instead of Minister’s Enclave.

Even as a final decision is yet to be made, one thing is clear: Khan’s decision to eschew PM House will show the people that he means to keep his word.

I looked at the President house as well. Beyond disgusted at the luxury, I have never seen such luxurious places for office holders.

Yea our govts have been wasting billions over this shahana lifestyle like mughals while half of the population isn't even able to eat twice a day.

The same should happen to the CM houses, Governer Houses, President Houses. These are things our country cannot afford

If Pak wants a western standard of living for it's people then there must be no special treatment for anyone. All these pre independence buildings used by politicians to make money must be demolished. If IK starts this culture future governments will be forced to abide by the as well. They will rightfully be seen as a yardstick of a PM's loyalty to the country. We need to tighten up our belt big time.

I am not sure if it’s feasible security wise to live in the ministers’ enclave. Also the Prime Minister house in the red zone so it can’t be converted into any other institution. And PM needs to have an access to a chopper 24/7, how would that be possible. It’s a big challenge, if IK backtracks he will lose public’s trust.

Dnt be silly, even Nawaz when he was pm always lived in lahore, in the densly populated model town and his raiwind wind, Mush stayed in pindi for his term. Its not a security risk when security can be provided anywhere these days.

Why couldn't they provide security in Bani Gala? I am sure IK feels more at home there than any other place

Not destroyed. These buildings should be used as hotels or for tourism. Earn money from them. Take money from everywhere you can get.

Don't know if it is true but it was rumored that when Angelina Julie visited Pakistan after 2010 floods and met Gillani in PM house, she was shocked to see the contrasting lifestyle of common Pakistanis and its rulers.

Imran should stay at minister's enclave and should also convert different governor houses in different cities into universities and libraries.

Jaati Umara is humungus and can be easily secured.

She said it in veiled words I think

So if we do this to the President, Governor, CM houses in other provinces, Ministerial houses in other provinces, we should be able to save Rs 10 billion atleast then?

This is a very good step and hopefully it sets the tone for rest of his term(s). Pakistan needs focused leaders that can get the job done, no more hanky panky, there are simply too many challenges to waste time.

PTI should make video of all these palaces from inside and show it on TV to awaam how their money was wasted by these crooks

You see “ Khaakis “ working for ISI Political wing (Un-Constitutional) get exposed.

You knew that GHQ subservient IK will bow down infront of Gate number 22 in their demand to show public about how PM house and governor house look like.

Now your post further exposes that Wajahat S Khan program of Dunya and Maria Memons program of Ary News were imposed by Establishment.

Afshan Massab has done superb Post Martem of “ Jacuzzi Journalism from PM House “

Imran Khan should dare to ask COAS, DG ISI to open Army House, DG ISI house, Core commanders houses to general public and for Stooges Wajahat S Khan & Maria Memon tv shows.

He should ask his masters to shift in 1 kanal homes.

Lekin Parr Jaltay hein.

The only purpose is humiliation of Civilian Leaders. That’s all.

Still PM House is occupied by IK, the costs of PM house are same like Gillani, Raja Pervez, Benazir shaheed & Nawaz Sharif’s time. Same number of gov employees in PM house and they will get same pay and privileges as before.

Cosmetic drama by Selected Puppet PM to deceive ordinary Pakistanis.

who can forget austerity campaigner’s Rs.55 per km abundant helicopter rides per day. Lies defaming Pakistan further on Int front and making mockery of Pak Government worldwide.

All of those houses are look after and dealt with through the Army's budget. Many of them are recycled and some are older than the country. Many of these houses require maintenance and refits as they are so old..

No generals house that he has received as part of his tenure is as luxurious as your pir's. None. Army lodges and houses are maintained from within the armys own allocation. The govt is free to investigate this at their leisure. Also generals tend to be in office for a few years and then retire. Its not the army's fault that the civilian govt that has a budget way larger than the army's is unable to provide adeqaute facilities to the people.

Oh and by the way, next time theres an engagement on the border ask Maryam and her media cell to put on a pack and pick up a G3..udhar hi nikal ay ga sub kuch..

The annual spendings of PM house approved for year 2017-218 were Rs.960 million.

The allocated budget was raised to 980 million for the year 2018-2019.

Than came the habitual liar Imran Khan Niazi who promised 35 % less expenditure from the allotted budget of year 2018-2019 because because we are a poor country and He wanted Austerity saadgee drive hence wanted to cut down PM house expenditures by 35 %.

What happened on ground ?

Under the leadership of Corrupt Imran Khan Niazi PM house exceeded budget of 980 million and instead spent a whooping 106 millions for the year 2018-2019.

Here you go bud. The person reporting this sensationalist news item willfully added the National Disaster Management Association budget in to the PM House budget. the NDMA is a subordinate unit of the PM house, but its budget allocation is always separate. on a like to like basis the PM house has not only spent less money this year vs last year, it is also going to spend less money next year.

Like most posters here I respect you as well. We are allowed to have opinions about most things. What we are NOT ALLOWED TO DO IS TO WILLFULLY LIE OR PRESENT FALSEHOODS. that should be called out. You quoted me in this because some third rate journalist on geo made some claims. It took me less than five minutes to figure out that its a lie.

So please respect your intelligence and those of other on this forum to not perpetuate falsehoods. Alternate you can be like the the other serial moaner on this thread and write 1000 word essays ranting about 1971 and fascism.

FACTS MATTER

Ministry clarification

The Ministry of Finance later issued a clarification on the matter and said this news story “carried twisting and erroneous figures”.

“It is clarified that allocation earmarked for the PM Office in the fiscal budget 2019-20 stood around Rs860.28 million. The misleading news item had attributed Rs1.17 billion amount as allocation made to the PM Office in the fiscal budget, showing a proposed increase of 19 per cent for the PM Office,” read a statement issued by the Press Information Department.

“A wrong impression was created by adding allocated budget amounts of other department (NDMA) with the total amount set aside for the PM Office, which amounted to making mockery of the government’s austerity drive.”

The ministry said the allocated budget for the NDMA was around Rs309 million and “this amount was wrongly added to the total budget amount allocated for the PM Office.”

“The NDMA is a subordinate office which had separate allocation. For further clarification, the budget book (part 1 current expenditures) at page No 302 to page No 310, whereas its pages No 303 to 308 contained the exact figures about the PM Office. Pages from 308 to 309 had the details about the NDMA budget,” read the statement.

“It is further clarified that during the fiscal budget 2018-19, the PM Office was allocated Rs1.11 billion but due to Prime Minister’s austerity drive, that office had only utilised Rs750 million out of the allocated amount, thus saving 32% in the total expenditures in the current fiscal year.”

The finance ministry maintained that the current allocation of Rs860.28 million marked a reduction of 13 per cent in the PM Office’s annual budget. “When compared with fiscal year 2014-15, the current allocation had been the lowest one,” read the statement.

“For the first time in the history of the country, a Prime Minister had done away with his as well as members of his Cabinet discretionary powers by ending the discretionary funds of the PM Office which stood around Rs60 million.”

“For the next fiscal year, the current expenditures of the federal government had been reduced to Rs431 billion from Rs480 billion, whereas the other precedent was freezing of the defence budget which was unprecedented.”

The statement concluded with the assertion that “expenditures of PM Office had no relation with the person of Prime Minister, as he himself was bearing all his personal expenditures.”

Agendas badly exposed

In the future it would be better to do some cursory fact checking before jumping up and down in glee but then having egg on your face shortly after

yes this is all third gossip and nonsense. From a press that has been getting basic facts wrong. Please post a link to the budget so that we can compare. FYI it been denied.

The reason was mentioning you Pete bhaee was to discuss rationally and logically. Otherwise I do not welcome cultish replies and it’s time wasting.

We are not talking about overall expenditures of Federal or provincial governments and the cuts.

Stick just to PM house budget kindly if you wish to engage in meaningful rational discussion.

Teach me some maths.

Nawaz Sharif PM annual budget 960 million.

Shahid Khaqan Abassi PM annual budget 980 million.

Imran Khan given 980 million. Imran Khan PM promised to cut 35 % spendings out of this budget.

35 % of 980 is 343. So as per his lie to the nation the PM house should have spent just 537 million rupees for the year 2018-2019. But but how much they spent ??

1006 million rupees. Exceeding allotment of 980 billion rupees.

And this Phattay Wayy Kaprhay pehunnay waala Con Artist, Liar had no shame and instead increased PM house budget to 1017 million for year 2019-2020.

Yet another example of his con-artistry. He said it and cult members believed, and now they have to justify and deflect.

Well Precisely.

Imran is world’s perfect example of a leader having huge tazaad is what he preaches and what he does practically which is totally opposite to his sermons.

He is extremely power-hungry who suffers from high grade Messiah complex. He refused to be Pakistan captain unless he was given complete authority. When he was the captain of Pakistan, he was also the coach, the selector as well as the PCB Chairman.

His narcissism was at its peak when he refused to play in Australia's tour of Pakistan in 1988-89 because the weather was too hot, and while he was sitting at home in chilled A/C, Miandad was leading the team in 40C heat. This is the type of man Imran Khan is.

After winning the World Cup Final, he used the opportunity to promote SKMH instead of giving credit to his players and applauding them for winning the World Cup.

After retiring from cricket and focusing on his social work and charity, his thirst for power led him to join politics, and now this is the result. He talks about democracy, but he is a complete authoritarian who has no capacity to compromise with others. His mentality is that if you do not agree with him, you are his enemy, and this attitude has tricked down to his supporters as well.

I completely agree. Add to this his latest heroics yaar. A PM asking treasury benches to make National Assembly a fish market. Jis container pe pehlay dhaandli k naam pe and later London plan ki saazish se Khan sahib ko cherhaya tha ab mosoof container se utarr He nai rahay.

" Under the leadership of Corrupt Imran Khan Niazi PM house exceeded budget of 980 million and instead spent a whooping 106 millions for the year 2018-2019. "

huh? TalentSpotterPk Unless my Maths is incorrect, he's done remarkably well at lowering the spend at the PM's house. H'es lowered it by nearly 900 million! That's incredible.

I have already responded to this, because this is factually incorrect.
Anyhow I value your insights on the cricket. Looking forward to your thoughts on post World Cup Pakistan squad

Hammad Azhar son of Turn coat Mian Azhar & Dr Shahbaz Gill who was kicked out of Quaid e Azam university after disciplinary action for indulging in immoral unethical behaviour are tools of Disinformation and lies. The Cult family loves peddling lies.

As per Ministry of Finance official published figures what has changed in last 1 year which has resulted in PM house exceeding its budget of 980 billion rupees ?

1. For Allowances of PM house 360 million rupees were kept but in year 2018-2019 the PM house spent 440 million rupees in allowances. For year 2019-2020 PM house has asked for 490 billion rupees through budget.

2. For Operating expenditures of PM house in year 2018-2019 PM house was allocated 129 million rupees but PM house spent 185 million rupees in this year. For year 2019-2020 218 million rupees have been allocated.

Government of Pakistan’s own documents identify the lies of PTI ministers, MNA’s and MPA’s and NDMA point is just cheap distraction to appease voters and followers.

Con Artistry, Lies, frivolous allegations is hall mark of PTI.

You are liar, you keep on pasting rubbish from losers of the Noora persuasion. No one believes anything you say.

I'm so sorry that he must promote a hospital that heals people. If the NS government of the time had been doing their job instead of looting the country, SKMH wouldn't have been necessary. And it's obvious that the PCT at the time was very hurt by him not giving them credit. So much so they spent the rest of the 90s being the best Pakistan cricket has ever offered to the world. T

Truth is, that he spent a decade and a half being a lone voice crying out in the wilderness while these looters were in charge and filling the entire administration with their crooks. Soooo much power, being the only man from your party in office. All the while, he built the SKMH into a worthy medical facility.

And do tell, who should he compromise with? The looters of PML-N? The thieves of PPP? The thugs of MQM? The same ones responsible for the crisis that you constantly bemoan Pakistan for being in? You can't have your cake and eat it too. Pick a side, step up, and perform instead of constantly bemoaning the situation!

Copy paste machine once again exposed for not doing research before posting numbers?

Mamoon where are you, you agreed with him like you do, and when the facts come out you always run. Remind me again what you were saying about cults!

The most confused person on this planet i must say...

He won a world cup, so his way was right then since it achieved results?

The team he gave no credit to... is still singing his praises?

Promoting an institution which offers free healthcare for cancer and serves millions is a bad thing?

It is not about whether his methods were right or wrong, I am just trying to explain the type of personality that he has. He did win us the World Cup in 1992, but unfortunately his methods of leading the team didn't work against India in the World Cup. He was the first Pakistani captain to lose to India in a World Cup, and it is a streak that is haunting us to this date.

As far SKMH is concerned, I have nothing but utmost respect for him for taking this initiative. It has served millions of people. However, the post match presentation ceremony of a World Cup Final was not the platform for him to promote his cause.

LOL,

So, now, you are insinuating, it is IK fault for Pakistan to continue to lose to India in world cup?

You should be journalist for FOX news, the news channel that thrive on insinuation.

It is largely Imran and Wasim's fault. The 90's were the ideal time to beat India in World Cups. Our teams were better and there was no pressure of the streak. It actually became a talking point in the buildup to the 2003 World Cup.

The 1992 World Cup defeat to India is particularly infuriating. Pakistan beat tournament favourites New Zealand twice and went on to win the World Cup, but somehow, they found a way to lose to India, a team that was pathetic throughout the tournament and only won 1 match apart from beating Pakistan. Unfortunately the cornered tiger remained cornered against India.
