Against which teams, on which tracks ?
We need who score centuries, like modern day cricket.
AUS has Finch, Smith, Warner
NZ has Williamson, Taylor, Guptil..
ENG has Roy, Root, Morgan, Butler
IND has Sharma, Dhawan, Kohli
SA has Amla, De Villiers, De Cock, Du Plesis
What Pakistan has equal to the current world standard batting ???
This is the same guy that said nothing is wrong with Ahmed shehzad. He's an awful cricket expert these days and I really don't take many of his statements seriously and you guys shouldn't either. A disgraceful comment on haris sohail who is one of the most talented batsman in Pakistan right now. It's a pity he had to miss a few years but he's performing well in domestics meaning he deserves a call up. Such stupid experts really ought to keep their mouth shut.

Needs to be permanent in the side. Likes pace, struggles when pace is off the ball and when spinners are on.
Strike rate really needs to improve, each time I've seen him reach 50 his strike rate has been around late 60s to 70s then he will get out.
His development has been stagnated since the 2015 World Cup, could have been a decent batsman for Pak by now.

Excluding minnows:
- Haris has played 2 innings at #3 and averages 38 with 73 strike rate. He was top scorer of Pakistan in 1 match. Pakistan lost all those matches.
- Haris has played 5 innings at #4 and averages 39 with 74 strike rate. He was not top scorer of Pakistan in any of those matches. Pakistan lost all those matches.
- Haris has played 7 innings at #5 and averages 43 with 74 strike rate. He was top scorer of Pakistan in 2 of those matches. Pakistan tie 1 match, win 2 match and lost 4 of those matches. There was 1 match in which Haris was top scorer of Pakistan and Pakistan won that match.
So on conclusion:
- Haris's batting average is slightly below average compared to international standards.
- Haris's batting strike rate is lot below average compared to international standards.
- Haris has played only 1 inning so far which we can call as match winner. That was against New Zealand in UAE when he scored 85* runs although even in that game his strike rate was very low 78 and it was first Sarfraz and finally Afridi who actually scored big runs with high strike rate to win that game.
So Haris is may be special as per current Pakistani standards but he is definitely nothing special as per international standards. And I think thats what Wasim Akram was saying.

Never seen such cricket fans like we have in Pakistan, I mean after just 1 ODI innings, he has become the "best" over-night. Well we need players who scores centuries like modern day ODI cricket.
Haris innings was good. His place in the team should be subjected to his consistency in his performance.
see the world standard of batting now. Teams like Aus Eng India SA NZ...
Akram may have been a great bowler, but i never liked this bloke!
If i saw him on the street , i would cross over the road and keep walking!
Always prefered waqar!
Alot of people on here hate on waqar, but whatever waqar's limitations as a coach, he always tried his best for pak, something, i don't believe can be said for wasim!
Wasim keeps calling players like fakhar, haris young players - yuk!
Wasim kept calling Lords the house of cricket, instead of home of cricket
and when SA were almost bowled out, wasim for some reason started to talk about how beautiful the lords ground is, something he mentioned several times before!
Wasim keeps reading out the scorecard - like we can't read!
Wasim's other go to is talking about field placements, like we can't see where the fielders are!
Then theres the classic of keeping the seam upright when you bowl!
This guy is getting a free ride as a commie just because of his playing achievements!
Compare him to his contemporary, shaun pollock and you can see what a professinal cricketer turned commentator should be like!

I can't believe i am saying this, but i totally agree with YOU!Wasim kept quiet when Mark Nicholas asked him how could Pakistan leave out Haris Sohail after today's performance.
That's because Wasim supports Shoaib Malik.
Please get Wasim out of the commentary box as he is rubbish and don't let him anywhere near the Pakistan coaching set up.
That's the problem with all our ex cricketers.Only self praise and nothing else.Happy and contend with being called legends,sultans,100mph etc.Tbh our current lot may be less talented but have desire to do wellWasim's commentary is a joke. He always goes on only talking about he used to bowl during his days. And the no. of other mistakes he does while commentating.
Unless Harris has played an extraordinary knock at international level or even PSL...what makes you think we should not take your comment with a pinch of salt about Wasim Akram
Wasim's commentary is a joke....
nonstop reading from a piece of statistical paper it seems

So far what I have seen of Wasim he is a nothing special analyst.

Back when Akram said this, he was right. Haris has never played the way he played last night.
Wasim is an expert at reading off stats
Even then Harris with 1 leg would have been better then someone like Malik.
Back when Akram said this, he was right. Haris has never played the way he played last night.
Malik did very well in the period from the CT (even a bit earlier) till late last year.
You're filtering those stats to suit your needs, ignoring his century against the Windies and games before the CT (why he was then selected for the tournament). Include alot oft he period most last world cup and he ends up with an average of over 40 and s sr of around 80 odd. Not bad at all.
Add in he could bowl a few handy overs, I fully understand why he was selected ahead of Haris, who also does not field as well.
Things have changed now, with Malik looking uninterested and Sohail possibly improving his striking.
You yourself said from CT to late last year. That was filtered according to YOUR needs not mine. 1 June 2017 to 31 Dec 2018.
Now that we have the stats aside, let's debunk your chota admi mentality. This thread is about Haris Sohail being nothing special, not about Shoaib Malik's form leading to the CT. Haris always has problems after 50 runs, but that didn't prevent fans without bias glasses from realizing that he was once in a decade kind of batsman for Pakistan.
Let's also address your Malik obsession. Malik had a purple patch, sure. He has had those purple patches spread throughout his entire career. But he has always come short in tournaments, and his performance overseas is always a suspect (even during his purple patch).
Malik has NEVER been a better choice tha haris!I had a one sentence post, which actually mentioned the period before the CT too.
My point is, that around the time when Akram made these comments, Malik was ab etter choice and if we look at the possible reasons for the selectors, they would have included his lower order hitting in 2017, his century against the windies and his fifties batting lower down. Couple that with his bowling and he was a better option than Haris.
But nw it is different. That is all I will say on that as I do not want to defend Akram much further as he knows nothing of Pakistan cricket haha
Malik has NEVER been a better choice tha haris!
On topic, I sort of agree. I think Pak fans should expect a Hafeez kind of career from Haris Sohail. He'll be great to watch here and there and make average contributions rest of the time.
Malik has NEVER been a better choice tha haris!
Technically and ability wise both are not comparable. Hafeez was an all rounder and now he can play some good innings on occasions, he was never technically as good as Haris Sohail. There is a reason Haris averages 50+ in FC while Hafeez averages in 30s. Haris ODI record is also super with average in 46-47 at SR of around 85.
Malik and Hafeez were never specialist batsmen, they were all rounders until due to action issues that started concentrating more on their batting. Hafeez and Malik’s ODI career average isnt of a modern day ODI batsmen. Though Hafeez on his day can take the game away and had really good few years in LOIs in the last decade but he cant be compared to a technically superior batsmen like Haris Sohail.
Its a shame injuries effected the career of Haris Sohail.
He was just a dummy show figure in PSL teams. He didn't do anything apart fron wearing team shirt and showing sad expressions. In the last two years Wasim Akram has had control of Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings. His knowledge of modern day cricket was exposed.
IU did well with or without Wasim. We all know his influence was that of a Brand Ambassador more than someone who brought team building knowledge.
