If Keane is £30mn then Lukaku is definitely worth the prices being quoted

Everyone has gone mad. Everton also splashed £30m on Jordan Pickford, a 23 year-old goalkeeper!

No he isn't. But because of how much money is in the premier league and because he is English , teams are willing to charge such prices.

The amount of money being splashed around is grotesque and why I've totally gone off football.

I know cricket has its gross inequalities but at least there's a semblance of a level playing field.

He's young and a future England regular player if he does well at Everton. Considering he was sold for 2 million a couple of years, the price seems high but other clubs were interested which put the price up.

Btw it's football not soccer.

Emigrate to here mate, still lots of money in the game but far more fan friendly and likeable

Prices of these mediocre English players is being inflated by the rules requiring at least two or three (dunno actual number) in each matchday squad.

Only Keanes worth this money were Roy and Robbie

Lol really?

De Gea is worth 130mn pounds in that case

Indeed. City also spent £34.7m on 23-year-old keeper Ederson, who surpassed BUFFON as the most expensive goalkeeper ever! Shocking considering barely a dozen keepers over the course of history have cost over £10million, yet these clubs are spending huge amounts on relatively unproven keepers (they usually peak in the late 20s, a bit like leg-spinners).

English league for you, too much money with no sense, being hung dry. Tbh i dont care, throwing money wont make them successful.

The English league is left behind, epl just buys good players from other countries.

I laugh at people when they criticize clubs like PSG.

Learn from Juventus- generally every yr buy sensible and they understand clubs like madrid will buy thr top players

When you look at how much more tv money, prize money, season ticket money etc English clubs get today compared to even 4 or 5 years ago it's no surprise that transfer fees have increases by a similar amount.

No way at all. I am glad Liverpool are not going mental like all other sides by overpaying for average players.

No thanks

Transfer records are being broken every year.

MU did well to keep hold of DeGea, looking how desperate RM are, he could go for over £100m in a couple seasons time.

These high prices are a damning indictment on the youth academies.

As much as I hate to admit this, Spurs seem to be the only club where good English youngsters have come through in the last 3 to 5 years. No coincidence that they're the ones who don't have to splash out over inflated prices for an average English defender or midfielder.

keeps getting crazier

if Mendy is worth 52mn then Keane might as well be worth 30mn

But Pickford?!?!?!

The TV money is hyperinflating transfer fees. Its about time the Premier League imposes a salary cap like they do in America and makes steps to control transfer fees.

Nearly a third of international transfer fees goes to agents !

This is unsustainable. The "financial success" of the Premier League is a big myth. The turnover of an average Premier League club is a little more than that of an average Tesco supermarket. And clubs spend huge amounts of their turnover on wages.

clubs across the continent are fleecing european clubs

majority of the big premier league clubs might as well set up feeder clubs for a new revenue stream. get in talent at cheap from africa, S. america etc and send then on 4-5x multiples in a few years.

on another note, Louis Van Gaal was such a tripe manager.

absolutely ruined our talent next gen
