Salam alikum , I am travelling to pakistan this summer and planning to live there for 4-5 months. if any body here who used solar power in Pakistan , what can you recommend . looking for something which can run electricity for 4 bedrooms . not sure if ac runs runs on solar panel or fans only . Also what is good model to buy . i will be travelling to kashmir but will shop around in Islamabad . Thanks

why not UPS?
it is a cheaper alternative.

Solar...is still very expensive and requires lot of maintenance.

I Live in azad kashmir , i heard they turn off elec 12 hrs plus a day so ups is not a great option . it doesnt get charged properly , also with ups i think you can run barely one or two fans only.. unless is there some ups that are really powerful ?,

Solar installation is expensive, break even point is 4+ years.

With bigger ups you can have fans, lights, tv working. (10kva ups you can buy for rs150k)

If ups cannot fully charge batteries in 12 hours, it would be challenging for solar to charge those batteries...

UPS has too many issues plus it doesn't take too much load. Get a good generator

His neighbours wont appreciate the use of generator:) and it can also become very expensive with the daily fuel. As of today I think UPS will be the better choice.

It's pity that AJK which provides a big part of electrisity to rest of Pakistan is itself victim of the big loadshedding. I was in Pakistan last week and villages in Punjab had less hours loadshedding than Mirpur.

yeh downside to generator is its too loud . also in middle of night some one has to turn it on if power is off . if any one has used solar power panel. please recommend me good company name and average cost to buy. i am also traveling through ksa for umrah . is it cheaper to buy from ksa?

also i live in village in ajk. so charging ups is not great option .

You can run ACs on solar but you need a lot of installed capacity for that and it will cost an arm and a leg.

I would suggest you to get a good generator. That should be expensive but will run an AC and you're going to need that because Summers are going to be killer this time around.

However, as you will be living in Isblamabad and Kashmir, I can let you know that it wont be too hot so you can survive an hour without air conditioning on UPS. That is a much better and cheaper alternative. A normal battery will run an LED, lights, fans and even those air coolers. If you get a bigger battery, you can run TV's, fans, lights all simultaneously. Its a much better and cheaper alternative.
