Nothing new. He did this many times before. He still thinks that last bd series win over Ind is fluke.
 
Indian ex players used to talk sense don't know what happened to them all of a sudden
 
Now if Bd win there will be threads claiming 'we heard India take their place in finals was granted' so that pepped us up by Bd players :P
 
He's a bong afterall.. I haven't heard Bengalis talk favourably of people from the Desh .

Probably makes more sense to post the actual comments along with the opinion. But however biased they are, it is hardly surprising from Ganguly.
 
Ganguly is right tho everybody knows bangladesh is happy just to be in the final. Everyone was hoping pakistan would face bangla too and could picture them in the finals.
 
Always find him so smug when commentating, especially towards India. He seems a bit full of himself. Quite irritating.
 
He didn't directly say India will make it to final i think. Later on he over-corrected and said assuming India beat South Africa here lol
 
Hopefully Indian players, fans and pundits can be as disrespectful as possible leading up to the match. Need the boys fired up.
 
I dont know what he said... please elaborate if possible.

Ganguly historically has always loved BD cricket and cricketers. He even came to Bangladesh to host event organised by BCB.
 
The next few days will be glorious..

I seriously want Ind-bangladesh to be a major rivalry ..
 
So he was being disrespectful to BD by praising Mahmudullah and Shakib and saying if they click, BD can beat any team!!
 
I don't know what else Ganguly said but what I heard during his commentary was that he was highly complimentary to Bangladesh and rattled of the names of three fourths of the team to praise them.
 
What can you expect from an Indian bong? They are jealous and bitter of the BD Bangalis having a good cricket team, doing well. Since Ganguly no Indian bong talent has come up for India, nor plays regular in the LOI! No talent their region hence the bitterness!
 
I don't know what he said. But he has been a bit of a fan boy this series. He also sounds like Shastri 2.0. Don't know what happened to him. BCCI? :srini

Yes the same way I would back them to beat Pak 3-0, SA 2-1, India 2-1, Draw a series in SL against SL, and kick out NZ in a CT match.
 
I was hearing the commentary and not sure what was so disrespectful there...Can someone post full text of his commentary...

Why did he have to bring that up? We know we aren't the strongest of opposition but we are the 6th ranked team and not some 9/10th ranked side.

We earned our ranking and we earned our spot in the CT, and certainly got into the semis by playing a virtual QF against a quality NZ side.
 
When talking about Edgbaston, he said that team India would now have to go leave birmingham for semi's before coming back to Edgbaston for the final. He just assumed that India would walk over BD and reach the final

Where is he in the IND ODI side?
Read my prev post. No good talent has come out of Gangulys region since he left. It stays the same. Saha, Bengali? Thought he was Tamil. Even if he is Bengali But is not part of the LOI/T20 squad. And nowhere any great talent, anyway.

its called media ... its their job to titillate people ... they know people will fall for it every single time. The only winners will be the media houses who will laff their way to the banks.
 
Saurav Ganguly is one of the worst commentators I have experienced in cricket. And believe me, I have watched alot of cricket. He is biased, he is monotonous, he is full of India and doesn't talk about cricket. Previously I saw this trait in Sunil Gavaskar but even he wasn't this bad.

Can't believe that the broadcasters would have Ganguly in the commentary team and NOT Harsha Bhogle who, I believe is one of the best commentators cricket has ever seen (obviously behind Tony Grieg). Manjrekar is good too, down to earth - but Saurav is easily one of the worst ever.

You are right, I did not hear this. No need to understimate the opposition, specially BD who are on the rise. But, it was not disrespectful, it was merely underestimating the opposition. Everyone, who has not followed BD closely are underestimating them based on their past record and they will be in more such shocks in future...
 
India truly deserves to lose. They are playing poor cricket but somehow managing to win because of other teams' faults. Their ex liquid forms are giving disgusting comments.

He is a better wicket keeper batsman than anyone BD has ever produced.

BD fans , please dont take offence. This should get your boys fired up. Lets send India home now. That would be the best way to respond to these disrespectful arrogant Indian exes :yk

BD can win the entire thing, and may even yet do. However they always collapse spectacularly under pressure situations. The T20 WC collapse against India being one of them and one of the worst ridiculous thing I have ever seen.

They have the batting and the bowling to win if they keep their heads. Insulting Pakistan doesn't make any of the above points invalid.

Bangladesh just needs to remain focused and answer them on the field. Done it before, can do it again.
 
He's never been one for bang-bong diplomacy :)

It's embarrassing though that monotone Ganguly has a commentary slot ahead of Harsha Bhogle , one of India's finest commentators.

Yep -- like many here have pointed out, a few people are getting their knickers in a twist over nothing. Ganguly actually praised the Bangla side and said they can beat anyone on their day (I personally thought he was being too generous). He does expect India to win, but then who doesn't?

Winning 1 match in a decade is good enough for you guys.If India played zimbabwe as much as bangladesh I am sure they would win more than 1 game a decade.
 
There is nothing wrong in assuming game against BD would be piece of cake but when you are a legend and in a com box for live telecast then you could be little diplomatic. But again That's India where a very good commentator dropped from commentary panel for not praising excessively in favor of home side.

So seem to be all thrilled about comparing the BD side with a (rather weak) Ranji side in India! :)

And even this weak Ranji side will hammer Bangladesh in a 3-4 day first-class game. Saha will get a triple hundred.
 
Judging from the replies in this thread, Pakistani fans are collapsing under the pressure of the upcoming game tomorrow :)))

In an attempt to distract from India's dominant show today, some of them have become Bangladesh's best friends :))

Ganguly has more international runs than the entire Bangladesh Nation or atleast close to it.Number doesnt matter.Quality does.
 
He can sprout as much as he wishes. As I haven't heard the exact words, I am not willing to judge but most Indian commentators barring Harsha are the same.

Only thing we need to do it play a proper match and make a game off it.
