Sourav Ganguly disrespectful to Bangladesh

I mean he just told the truth.. match would have been interesting if it was nz or aus

Now it ll be boring one sided semis
 
Tbf, whatever he dis say was mixed with some truth at least. India are heavy favourites.
 
Till a few hours ago, Pak fans were hoping RSA to beat India, so they could hope to play BD in SF. Now that they know it's not going to happen, they suddenly have a new found respect for BD. Quite funny. :)

On a positive side: their wish may yet be granted (indirectly). SL may hammer Pak for > 200 runs, get their NRR above India, top the group and play Bangladesh.

So, don't lose heart guys, it can still happen!

LOL . from where did pak come in this? Even the fragile pak batting chased down 340 odd against bangla in the warm up. That even due a guy who never played INT cricket.

Oh not really, can you imagine how unbearable the BD fans will be if they win the CT? They don't shut up about their three series win or being 5 points ahead in rankings as it is.

But BD beating India and then going on to losing in the final would be a great result.

For now take back seat and win somd games in actual tournaments that matter. Win some tests vs established teams.

Exactly. Couple of fluke wins against India and some of my fellow countrymen behaves as if we've won couple of world cups. :uakmal

Not to start a war here but speaking from observation, Indian commentators are usually very biased in star sports, and some of them show a clear lack of respect for Bangladesh, back in 2007 Navjot Singh Sidhu was comparing BD to cockroaches which I thought was disgusting and inappropriate, there are more instances like these coming from people like Sehwag. Gavaskar, Manjrekar, Bhogle are I think some of the better commentators who say decent things about BD.
 
Cricket fans are the most sensitive in the world. Who cares what a commentator said about a team? At the end of the day, the only people to affect the outcome of the game are the two teams playing.

We already won a game that matters i.e vs NZ just 2 days ago

We did win a couple of games vs estalbished team lately.

But I believe we have satisified the parameters needed to free us of the minnow tag. No-where did I mention that we are "top side" or anything. Teams which are ranked 1-5 and have top performances recently in world cups are actually top sides. We have long way to go.

What is ridiculous is that I was asked to give statistics to state that we are "not a minnow" and now somehow fans are suggesting we need better performances to be labelled as a top ranked side. Where did I mention we are a top side eh?

If you think the Indian commentators are biased, I supposed you've probably never heard RSA or NZ commentators. Or Pakistani commentators for that matter.

During the memorable 2003 phainty India dished out to Pak in WC, after SRT had hammered each and every Pak bowler to all corners of the ground, Waqar brought Akhtar back for his second spell (keep in mind he'd run away from bowling after just 2 overs in the first spell :))

At that time SRT felt a little bit niggle, a pulled hamstring I think. Guess what was Rameez Raja's reaction: "Let's hope it's serious and he has to retire ...". Ravi Shastri, who was co-commentating at that time said: "Spoken like a true Pakistani ..."

So, no, Indian commentators aren't the most biased. At least they do not wish physical injury upon an opposition player. They only talk about hoping to win a game of cricket.

Bangladesh is extremely lucky to be in semis, if India play to their potential Bangladesh has no chance.

Yes upsets can happen but I doubt it.
 
Ganguly must easily be the most biased commentator in the history of cricket - even his occasional praise for Inda's opponents is at best grudging. He talks like a BCCI administrator not like a sportsman.
 
I guess Indian commentators must have never said anything biased towards their players right? Or perhaps the mundane atmosphere when Indian players are getting whipped by the crowd in India is a better reflection of the always neutral Indian cricketing mindset. :)

Coz they all are keeping their best performance save to face wrath of greatest team ever to grace the world of cricket which is full of legends from 1 to 11 and which has just left behind other beastly country like westindies, Zimbabwe to get in to champions trophy to terrorize the other 7 minnow countries.

Dont also waste time in proving that as you are still way behind.

Like i said perform for a a few years in icc events. Win test matches and then people will rate them.
 
Silly thread.

Ganguly is a bigger supporter of BD than all the fake support shown on this thread.

Ganguly and almost everybody else expected Aus to be in the semis, and they would have been if 4 more overs of play was possible in their match against BD, so it is very non-controversial statement.
 
While what he was saying is true, it's hardly something a person should be uttering as a commentator.

I don't think Bangladesh stands much of a chance either but you never know.

Ian Chappel said the same think on ptv, as analyst they are supposed to give their honest view instead of appeasing one set of fans, infact chappel went one step head and said it will be England vs India final so he isn't even giving a chance to Pak/Sri lanka
 
Ganguly says what he feels . As a commentator maybe he should show some neutrality but has been right most of the times .

Bangladesh can make him look foolish now but unlikely.

He is a god awful commentator, all he does is praise India.

Very smug individual and offers no insight whatsoever.

Ganguly is an Indian, so that's hardly professional to favor your side in such a manner.

Bangladesh didn't earn their spot .They got lucky that their match àgainst Australia was washed out.

Ofcourse Bangladesh beat Nzl fair and square but that doesn't mean they didn't get lucky.

Ganguly is basically saying that.He expected a much stronger Australia to be there but India got lucky they are facing a team that they bowled out for double digit score in the recent warm ups.

A tightly fought explosive match will permanently establish Ind Vs Bangla as the top rivalry in the SC, cricket wise and one to look forward to in the future.

And we have trigger happy , thin skinned fans on either side to load up social media with utter Filth . . :)))

On a serious note, Ganguly has gone too Pro-India for the first time in his Commentary career. Maybe he wants to take that job away from shastri-bot as well ! :D

He is basically India's Micheal slater, and Star is becoming Channel 9 . Ganguly needs Dravid on his side to keep him in check.

Anyway his obnoxious attitude is what made us a fighting team from a team of whiners in the first place. Good that he stays true to it !

Yeah, I've noticed that from various West Bengali posters. Very condescending attitude towards Bangladeshis and at the same time go out of their way to act as Indian as they can and over emphasize their Indianness. I guess they feel they have to be twice as Indian to be accepted by the Hindi, Gujurati, Marathi, etc speakers.
 
As long as Ganguly spoke ill about Bangladesh cricket & not about their nation or religion, I am okay with it. After 30+ years in International cricket & still not more capable than causing a rare upset or two, Bangladesh must understand that respect is earned not demanded. Heck if their tiny cricketing egos are hurt. Better this lit some fire in their belly. It might just make semi-finals slightly bit interesting.

The Bangladeshi fans expect commentators of other teams to praise Bangladesh to the sky. When they fail to do that, Bangladeshi fans feel that they are being disrespectful.

Come on, how can a commentator describe Bangladesh in glowing terms like strong title favourites, world's best players, world record breaking captain etc. They cannot be expected to be delusional like Bangladeshi fans.

You already have Athar Ali Khan to sing praises of Bangladesh. You cannot expect other commentators to blindly sing praises of Bangladesh.

Where did you see our fans complain about Ganguly? I haven't seen anyone complaining about it.

Infact, our fans are irritated by Sehwag but we know what Sehwag truly is so we stopped even caring.
 
These are his his exact words during the Pak vs SL game about Ind-B'desh.

"All those thinking it's going to be a cakewalk. Don't."
 
His words were "One would expect India to be in finals now". He was simply stating the fact that ONE expects India to win in other words India is favorite to win.
That is expressing confidence in India as team. Nothing about bieng disrepsctful or making fun of Bangladesh
Experts like Ian Chappell, Viv Richards, Bishop, Warne, Fleming said same thing that they expect India to win this one.
Were they all bieng disrespectful.
Man to Man ,India is a better team and one would EXPECT them to win.

Couple of days ago ,Pak fans were hoping SA to beat India, so they chance to play BD in SF so their spot in final was almost assured. Now suddenly have a new found respect for BD ..............and Ganguly saying same thing is now "Not respectable"
 
Pakistan can still play Bangladesh to show them respect. All they have to do is chase whatever target Sri Lanka sets them in something like 15 overs.

Very unlikely. We'd rather be safe than sorry unless Fakhar gets an unbeaten 100 of 50 balls.
 
Awful commentator. One of the worst. So biased. He is almost crying when we are on top which is basically most of this game so far. Indians will obviously still defend him in numbers. It's what they do
