THE Afghanistan Cricket Board has accepted Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) invitation to replace Australia A in the triangular series against South Africa A and India A to be played later this month.

“We are delighted that Afghanistan have accepted our invitation and look forward to welcoming them to our country for the very first time,” commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat. “Afghanistan were deservedly granted Full Member status at the ICC annual conference last month after showing impressive growth in recent years.

“They are a passionate cricket nation and I expect the Afghanistan A team to compete strongly against our A team and India A in the upcoming tri-series.,” concluded Mr. Lorgat.

“We are very pleased to accept Cricket South Africa’s invitation to participate in the upcoming triangular series,”commented Afghanistan Chief Executive, Shafiqullah Stanikzai . “This will be our first-ever visit to South Africa and I am certain that this will give Afghansitan ’A’ team very good exposure to competitive cricket.”

India ‘A’ will continue their tour after the final of the one-day series for the two four-day matches against South Africa ‘A’.

Wonder why Pakistan wasn't invited? This could be a missed opportunity for great exposure for our players.

Maybe they invited Pak A and then it was rejected by the PCB?Or maybe showing some support to a new test nation.

Was the PCB even in negotiations or asking to take part?

Seems a bit of a stretch to say overlooked if the PCB wasn't trying to be involved.

Admittedly since this Australia-India-South Africa thing has been an annual arrangement I believe picking someone easier to drop when Australia A returns would have been in consideration.

The fact it is a triangular series with India, tells you all you need to know.

Bcoz the reason is v simple !! Ind r v scared to play Pak...so scared that they hv removed June 18th from their calendars!!!

has Pak-A ever been part of such tours ? Ind-A , Aus-A and SA-A have been arranging these exposure tours quite regularly in the past few years . It's more like Afg has replaced Aus here than Pak .

I think, it's more to do with PCB's lack of initiative for logistical issues. One thing is, such A tours don't have any monetary exchange, rather boards exchange such tours with host covering expenses, in that regard it's a bit difficult for PCB such exchanges unless they shift their venue to SRL or BD from UAE (or accept BCBs offer to start visit in PAK by such development squads 😩)

Here, AfCB can host SAF A in India & it's a cheaper exchange for them, so they were ahead of PCB in bargain. Second issue could be that CSA didn't risk BCCI's participation by inviting PAK.

By everyday, things will become tougher for PCB as long as they keep distancing themselves from few broads that genuinely can help them & need them as as well.
