As per reports CA has invited Pak to play a 3 match t20i series. Couldnt ask for a better competitor to fine tune our combos and get more match practise in before the worldcup.

Moral of story: You play good modern cricket, teams would run to play with you. Gone are the days of Babar/Rizwan selfish mentality.

So CA invited Pakistan because they are enthralled by the incredible cricket Salman Agha’s team played in New Zealand, Bangladesh and WI?

I think Pakistan needs to focus more on tests. The more we play T20Is the more our players will be ill prepared for test cricket.

Test cricket is the real deal - period

It is a shame that we only play 6 test per year

England play 7 tests at home (during the Summer) alone

The last time we had crap players like Babar, Rizwan and Haseebullah in the playing XI

That was a depressing series!

When is this happening?
If I am not wrong, Australia are playing New Zealand, India & England in their home summer this year.

How they focus on tests when they Limited games.

Sadly, PCB have developed a culture where it is all about T20 cricket. I don't think we will ever prioritise test cricket.

Not sure this can be done. Pakistan will be busy with the Asia Cup in September and Australia's cricket season is packed from October to the New Year Test match .

No window to play the series.

Australia team will be wounded after Likely Epic thrashing from India ( In T20 series) and australia - Pakistan series will be right before Ashes so head , Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood will be not available for this series.

India vs Australia limited series end on 8 November and The Ashes started from 21 November

There will be a small windows between 9 Nov to Nov 20 . So they can adjust these 3 T20 - 12 ,14 and 16 Nov

Australia will be play with 3rd string team against Pakistan

Wonderful news.

Hopefully this means Australia will play their full strength side too (Batting at least because Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood aren't serious about bilateral T20Is).

Aus doesn’t have to field the team of Tests.. so they might as well squeeze this in.

I hope all 3 matches are at SCG

The only venue really that gives sub continent vibes

There is Sheffield Shield cricket scheduled to be played at the SCG during mid November so all three being hosted there probably is unlikely.

Perhaps, the Top End and Hobart will get to host these games.

Australia's 3rd team would absolutely own the Pakistan team. Expect a thrashing and lots of talk about how brave the Pakistan team played.

Any cricket with Australia is good, hopefully Pakistan will be well prepared.

Pakistan might as well schedule a 5 match series with Uganda too. Why are Brian Masaba's men being left out when Pakistan is playing T20s with every tom, dick and harry this year? Pak players should get to see the sights and sounds of Kampala

The most important limited overs series of 2025. Both are format defining teams historically in T20s

If this happens, it would be a perfect opportunity for us to give the likes of Ollie Peake and Hugh Weibgen some international experience.
Agreed, we can also test our bench strength even further esp in the bowling department as the combination there is still not settled.

Hope it happens. Would be good to see what some of these batters can do in pacey/bouncy conditions.

Asia cup takes them to end of September and I am guessing SA will tour in the first or 2nd week of October and might stretch into November considering it's expected to be a full tour. SL is due to tour in November too so maybe the series with Aus happens around late November.

Nothing scheduled for Pakistan after November - its a bit strange but December & January are fully open (likely why bunch of Pakistani's got selected for Big Bash).

Yup. We are now in a time where Ind. tours Aus. every year. Alternating white and red ball.

Is CA that greedy and desperate for $$$?

Perhaps you can let the PCB know that such a format exists!

Good for you guys, cricket is most entertaining to watch in England and Australia.

It would be a good series for these guys like Hassan nawaz or farhan. Could be a make or break for many like Mohammad Haris.

I don't want to get into the Babar/Rizwan debate. The real issue is that our team in the past for so long has been filled with mediocre, tried-and-tested players like Usman Khan, Tayyab Tahir, Azam Khan, and Iftikhar. In bowling, we continue to rely on the same core—Shaheen, Rauf, Naseem. The spin department remains unchanged with Shadab, Iftikhar, and Agha.

We still need to move on from players like Shadab—who will most likely return—Faheem, and Nawaz. These players bring nothing game-changing to the table. Every player in the squad should be a potential match-winner. I can assure you, when the opposition sees these names in the lineup, especially in the bowling attack, they feel relieved. We shouldn't make things easier for the opposition by fielding part-time or ineffective bowlers and mediocre batsmen and hope for the best.

Sufiyan , Salman Mirza, farhan, Nawaz and even Harris are a breath of fresh air. They bring the X factor and should be featured in all important games.

Look at India—they’ve built a team with no weak links. Every bowler is a wicket-taker, every batter is a threat. There are no passengers in their lineup

My bad, mate. I thought you meant if we were hosting NZ for a t20 series.
This is proactive from Aus.

They hardly prepared for CT and 2024 t20 wc for some reason. Ct was a joke as they all left lol.

They seem to be preparing like mad dogs for 2026 and 2027. They are in full rebuilding mode atm.

They need to actually do that for tests though. Idkw they aren't. This ashes is the end of the road for this team win or lose.

Theirs no way Khawaja can continue past this. Smith is in another tricky position. He was a goner after BGT but india revived his interest after 2 back to back centuries.

I believe this ashes will be the same and will decide if he makes it till 2027 or calls it quits.

@The Bald Eagle Please make a SA tour of Australia thread.

NZ and Zimbabwe got one but I dont see any Australia and sa one, if one exists please ping me.

@Ice Man @sweep_shot and a few others enjoy watching Australian cricket as well as in follow each series regularly.

It starts on 10th August, literally 2 days after pk and Wi odi series starts.
i tagged you there bro

Way too much cricket , especially bilateral T20 cricket.

It's not even going to help Pakistan that much considering World T20 is in Asia.

CA already have India white ball tour and Ashes this season. How much more money can they make off this ?

this is going to be a competitive series. South Africa should show fight like they did in WTC final or it might turn into a boring one sided series.

Looking forward to see how the explosive Australian middle order performs against South African bowlers on big Aussie grounds.

@Slim

Since Jan 2019, the following teams have played the most bilateral T20Is in Australia:

1. Sri Lanka - 5
2. Pakistan & India - 3
3. West Indies - 2

I didn’t know Sri Lanka have played the most exciting and modern T20I cricket in the last 6 years due to which CA invited them for the most matches.

I’m sure even Sri Lanka themselves don’t know about this fact.

Sahibzada has definitely been an upgrade over Babar and Rizwan.

Rizwan migh still come in cos he atleast has some power in his strokes, Babar is done for.

They are better in odi then t20 but odi has been extinct for a while
Pakistan hardly play enough ODIs anymore, and when they do, there's no real consistency or direction. Their recent aggressive approach in T20Is may have impressed Cricket Australia enough to arrange this upcoming series, but let’s be honest — that's the only format where they seem to be trying something new.

That's exactly why I said: moving forward, most teams will prefer to play only T20Is against them. They're no longer a serious contender in Test cricket — and at this rate, it’s only a matter of time before they drop out of the top 10 and are replaced by a more deserving side in the WTC. I can already see it happening.

ODIs? That format is completely neglected in their setup — no proper planning, no structure, just a few games thrown in here and there. It’s clear when your captain is Mohammed Rizwan it means they are building for nothing in that format either.

We dont need Money. We are not greedy people
Not so sure about the not greedy part. Why does CA keep inviting Ind.? They were just there last summer. They could have easily invited another team for white ball cricket. Maybe even two. Why not invite SL and Pak? or BD and WI?

But Ind. right back in there for a second summer in a row. Though kudos to CA for throwing CSA a bone. SA get 3 and 3 while India gets 3 and 5 of white ball matches.
