Truly expecting us tol fold in this match since we get over the top mostly after winning the 1st game of the series.
Expecting hafeez to fail in remaining 3/4 games.
And please don't play usman shinwari again..usless player

He is an opener and with his new found pull and cut, he has to bat in the top 10, we already have too many accumulators in the middle. I think Shan can score rapidly fairly risk free in the top 10 overs when the field is up.
And hafeez Malik and even sarfaraz can dominate spinners better.
Let's stop putting the square pegs in round holes

nah he'd be much better than malik and sarfraz in the middle order

I rate Shan highly but please don't ruin him by playing him in all sorts of positions, first he batted at number 3 in tests then went to opener, now you guys want him to bat at 5.

He would be a very good opener but currently Fakhar and Imam look settled.

shan would be better than malik/sarfraz in the middle

I would drop Shinwari and Imad for Amir and Shaheen.

I would like to slide in Shan for Faheem as he does not look capable of picking up wickets or scoring runs.

FZ, Imam, Babar, Hafeez, Shan, Malik, Sarfraz, Shadab, Amir, Hasan, Shaheen.

I would drop Imad for Shaheen. Keep the rest of the team the same, so give UKS + Faheem Ashraf another chance. Also Malik needs to step up, it was disappointing how he got out in the 1st ODI

I think I have seen him get out 100 times trying to run the ball past the keeper

Guaranteed to be a fast bouncy pitch

If they want to attack south African batsmen then play 4 fast bowlers and try to blitz them early under 200
Fakhar
Babar
Sarfraz
Talat
Malik
Hafeez
Hasan
Amir
Shaheen
Usman

If they want to play a more balanced lineup:

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Sarfraz
Malik
Hafeez
Faheem
Shadab
Amir
Hasan
Shaheen

Imad should play instead of a fast bowler if it's a slow pitch

If we lose the next 2 or 3 games by a big margin we might have to play all four specialist fast bowlers... Amir Hassan Usman and Shaheen.

Opener Reeza Hendricks said that South Africa are well aware the threat Pakistan can pose in the ODI format. Pakistan, who were handed a 0-3 Test series sweep, bounced back to win the first of the five-match ODI series on January 19 at Port Elizabeth by five wickets. Both teams next face each other in the second tie slated to be held at Kingsmead in Durban on Tuesday.

“We know Pakistan is a good one-day outfit,” Hendricks, who scored 45 in the series opener, said on Monday.

“They’ve been performing really well over the years in one-day cricket, so we’re quite wary and know that they’re a good team. They proved it by beating us in P.E.”

South Africa lost just two wickets at Port Elizabeth but managed to accumulate just 266 runs on the board. Opener Hashim Amla was unbeaten on 108 off 120 deliveries, while debutant Rassie van der Dussen batted well for his 93 but failed to shift to the next gear in the final 10 overs. The hosts could score only 76 runs in the last 60 deliveries and never looked to threaten the Pakistan bowlers.

“In our minds, we thought it would be a good score,” Hendricks said. “There were slower conditions in the day, and it did quicken up at night. In our minds, we thought we went about it the right way. The batters that were in the middle felt it was a good score.

“We’ve had a good discussion around the PE game, what went wrong and what we can learn from. It’s been those discussions we’ve had, and a good training session today ahead of tomorrow’s game.”

With the ICC World Cup 2019 just about four months away, every player from both teams are looking to book their berths for the showpiece event at England and Wales. Hendricks admitted that a spot in the World Cup squad would be a dream, but he’s not thinking ahead.

“I’m not looking at it like that,” he said.

“Yes, the World Cup is around the corner, but we’ve got a series on hand now at the moment and this is an opportunity that we get as well. We take it as it comes. Personally, I’m taking it game by game, trying to contribute as well as I can to each game and every opportunity I get, and the rest will take care of itself. I’m not looking too far ahead, or looking who’s around me, because at the end of the day if I don’t get selected I know the player next to me and the guys that are going will do the job, and I back them 100 percent.”

South Africa have nine ODIs remaining before the World Cup and Hendricks reckons that the team are on track to fine-tune Vision 2019, the team’s success plan at the quadrennial event.

“We’re quite close,” Hendricks said. “I think we’re on the right track. We’ve had a good chat in how to go about it and how we’re playing, and as a unit we’re all buying into it. We’re doing good things. There are still a couple of months to try and get it right for the World Cup.”

They were caught off guard by PAK's tactics & old ball skill - they set a perfect platform to reach 300+ at 35th over mark, but PAK bowled well, fielded brilliantly and Amla was desperate for his hundred (& preserving average). Without Kock, SAF's batting fire power starts from 4 - Faf, Miller, Klaasen, in total Miller batted 10-12 balls.

i still cannot come to terms with 266/2 in 50 overs .

huge game - need this one to win the series imo

only likely change is for one of Shaheen or Amir to replace Usman

With return of Afridi in place of Shhinwari and Shan in place of Imad Pak would be better position to beat SA. However, I w p ups be surprise to see Pak win two in row away from UAE.

It's a tough one 2maw in terms of team selection.
You would want more than 30 overs of pace preferably and I like Imad as he can squeeze tight overs in against new bats.

Hope we bat first and bat well so faheem can get a promotion. Need some hitters at the back end as sarfaraz /shadab combo at 6/7 is recipe for disaster

Imad has to be dropped.

Don't mind SSA being rested again as he needs it.

Imad bowled good. What Imad usually does is he drifts the ball inward into right handers and cramps them on the offside. Its just that it was extremely windy in this match and the ball kept drifting to the leg side.

Playing two specialist spinners is a must against south africa. I’d even say that playing two spinners is a must against any non-asian side. We need to have an effective spin partner for Shadab, and right now Imad is the best candidate. Nawaz is poor, yasir is unable to not bowl one short ball per over that goes for obligatory boundry and it is too late to debut a new spinner so close to the world cup.

I don’t count Hafeez as a specialist spinner. He is good in UAE but on other venues, at his best, he is only effective against left-handers and SA are all right handers except de kock.

I should also say mention that Imad is a genuine all-rounder, thats a huge plus

Neither one of Hafeez, Imad and Nawaz are suitable for second spinner option. You need proper spinners, turners of the balls along with decent control to take wickets in middle overs. Zafar Gohar and Irfan Khan are better options. Otherwise, just play Faheem as 4th pacer and Shadab as sole spinner and Hafeez, Fakhar as part time spin options.
