The six Cricket Association Second XI sides will feature in their third and final event of the 2020-21 domestic season when the Second XI Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament begins on Wednesday.

The 50-over tournament will be held after the successful delivery of the Second XI National T20 Cup and the three-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

The single-league tournament will be played across three Karachi venues – KCCA Stadium, NBP Sports Complex and TMC Cricket Ground – and its fifth and final round matches will be played on 24 December.

In the first round, Sindh, the winners of the three-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, will take on Southern Punjab at the KCCA Stadium. Very curious decision on Hurraira. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Faisal Akram was in the first XI squad. Clearly Ali Tareen is quite the fan and has some influence with Abdur Rehman at Southern Punjab.

The only youngster that Central Punjab has backed is Qasim Akram in the first XI which is quite curious. He better play matches in that case rather than sit on the bench. I also missed Mohammad Irfan Khan Niazi, so credit where it’s due. Still, surely Huraira should be first choice over pretty much any of those names in the squad?

As far as Faisal Akram goes, I hope you’re right, but which spinner in the first XI will he displace? Zahid Mehmood is already first choice spinner and Agha Salman is the second spin option due to his capability with the bat. I have a feeling he’ll be benched throughout if he does make it to the first XI, which is equivalent to not being selected at all barring an injury for one of those two. Or maybe Mehmood gets called up against South Africa.

Some very low scores there. Are the pitches bowler friendly?

On the other hand, 217 was chased inside 41 overs, 92 chased in 17 overs with 8 wickets to spare, etc.

I think these are probably 260 par grounds, with extremely, extremely low batting quality.
