I was expecting them to send Afif at 3 :(

After a long time, (I think 1st time), I am watching a BD team without Shakib, Tamim & Mash. Ariful is a wasted spot.

193 - not bad, but should have reached 200 after that start.

Sri Lanka will be needing 194 to win from their 20 overs. Excellent innings from the hosts after electing to bat first. Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim both with quick half centuries. Jeevan Mendis the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-0-21-2

What is with these Bengali Pacers !! Attitude as if bowling thunderbolt while in reality trundling. Dinda , Ranadeb Bose , Shahadat Hossain, Rubel etc

Where all the babgladeshi posters? Lol. A big, big reality check for them. Their team is getting smashed by minnow Lankans :))

Aren't you Bangladeshi too? Besides BD were in a similar position at this stage.

Oh yes, off course. I was just looking for my fellow supporters to share the burden of this shambolic performance.

Kushal is slaughtering the babgladeshi bowers. I am glad that I ain't watching this match. :yk

Lankans aren't really that minnow in T20s, they recently beat the Australians and SA in their own den. However BD do need some better pacers and get rid of useless players like Sabbir, etc.

Sri Lankans do really love their Gold.

2 quick wickets. That cobra celebration is so tacky. The captain even was doing that whiie giving him the cap.

BD are making these minnows look world class...

well BD themselves are ranked below AFG in T20s so its hardly surprising that they are failing to defend such a mammoth score.

If Thisara and Shanaka don't do anything stupid, they could finish this inside 18 overs.

This is a nightmare home series for BD. I know SL has better batting than bowling. They even beat India in the ct.

32 off his 3 wicketless overs for best bowler in Asia and better than anything that Pakistan has

@bhujee.kom;

:salute

Lankans are making it a walk, we should have reached 200+. And Mahmud made a tactical mistake of opening with Saiful with new ball against free scoring Lankan pair.

If things keep going this way for BD soon they will be playing Uganda and Namibia and rejoicing after victory

Will be an easy victory for SL. Last year in SL, the test, ODI and T20I series were drawn. No doubt Sri Lanka have dominated this tour of Bangladesh, winning the tri series, test series and they will at least draw the T20 series now.

No... ?

BD has a bright future and will overtake Pakistan in 5-10 years.

That's what certain experts said about Pakistan not to long ago... I'm just repeating their words to them.

You are so deluded

Bangladesh is the best team in Asia. Unbeatable in home conditions :ashwin

They will beat Pakistan 5-0 in ODIs and 3-0 in T20s no matter where the matches are played.

I don't understand Bangladesh.

Despite having a decent league like Bangladesh Premier League, they're still one of the worst T20I teams.

Hope it is a sarcastic remark. They are getting thrashed in their home conditions.

Shakib who's easily the best t20 player in Bangladesh team hasn't played today. It created an imbalance in the team and this is one of the main reasons behind today's loss.

It seems Shakib has been playing for decades now! How old is he and aren't there any back ups at all?

If the absence of one player means you let the opposition chase 194 in 17 overs then you don't really have much of a team.

Poor excuse. You lost because you got out batted by a superior batting line up. Also, you bowled very poorly. Even Shakib wouldn't have saved you guys from bowling the lengths you gave us. Jesus.

Take out kohli out of Indian team, they will lose their dominant status. Take out shadab and hasan from Pakistan team, they will also start struggling to win matches.

Shakib is the heart and soul of Bangladesh team. There aren't many teams in the world where a single player is the leader of the pack both in bowling and batting departments. But shakib in Bangladesh team is exactly that.

Nah I ain't giving excuses bud. We played poorly. But the absence of shakib hurt us badly. Besides this, hathuru knows everything about babgladesh team since he was the coach of our national team even couple of months back. He knows our tactics, strengths and weaknesses better than anyone.

His inside knowledge about Bangladesh team has made it easy for the srilanka team to make their game plan against us. But these things happen in cricket. Not taking anything away from Lanka though. U guys have played brilliantly. Congratulations. Hopefully we'll bounce back shortly.

Congrats to Lanka, they are a formidable T20 unit and totally out played us today. Shakib’s absence was felt, he is assigned Captain as well but that should have been an issue if it was a closer game. I don’t think we are going to beat them batting first in T20 much.

At least selectors tried few new faces...

No way is Sri Lanka a formidable T20 side. They were laughable against Pakistan recently in both T20s and ODIs. Not even bad, laughable. Bangladesh lost this because of their non-existent bowling attack. Did you guys drop Taskin for this Saifuddin? Or is Taskin injured?

SL lost 8 or 9 T20s on the trot coming into this match and it's laughable that you are calling them formidable...they just lost 3-0 to India A team..

SRL is always a better T20 side - always, with their free scoring batsmen & athletic fielders - they made 3 T20 WC finals, winning one for a reason. Their recent slump in T20 was due to off field issues, more than anything else - Hathura has fixed few cracks and streamlined the rough patches. Last year, they lost a T20 at home to us, which should be indicative enough where they were heading under that management. They actually are the first Asian side to win a T20 series in AUS and beat SAF in SAF just about a year back.

SRL lost to PAK because PAK also is a very good T20 side - still T20s were much, much closer than comfort. In a couple of months time they'll take India 1st team in T20 - I'll be waiting for that.

BD don't have any power hitters apart from Ariful (who I saw in the BPL a bit). Soumya and Imrul are hit or miss and will click once in 10 innings. Afif is like poor mans Babar in T20s. Mushfiqur, Shakib and Mahmadullah ((more vauabe for their bowling) are decent batsmen but even they aren't exactly T20 material. Sabbir is useless. In the bowing department, the spinners are somewhat OK but BD has no pacers.

On smaller grounds, it's really difficult for us to compete in T20s with a spin based attack and without proper hitter. I forgot his name, that Hong Kong batsmen won a game which was 55 metre rope that day. In ODI, you can manage with a consistent RR from start and keep ticking at 5+ rate, but in T20 it demands regular 15+ overs and couple of 20+ in between. Bowling is a massive issue, because from that attack best you can expect is a single every ball. However, today they debuted few players and 2 of those are genuine kids, which is only positive - it would have been twice worse with Tamim, Kayes & Sanjamul in it.

I think they debuted 3 players of whom 2 were spinners and the third was Afif who isn't a T20 player. On smaller grounds with this kind of bowling and batting attack you have no chance, as even players like Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah who have no power game were scoring at around 140-150 SR. INfact most of their boundaries come from cheeky reverse sweeps, ramp shots etc. The main concern is good pace bowling (Mustafizur was being dispatched like a club player and is mostly injured anyways bowling 130ks)and a batting line up that can actually clear 75-80+ boundaries.

Better chance was to chase and put pressure on batsmen, besides bowling under dew with a spin base attack is never a good idea. They are trying to hire one of Moody or Kristen - hopefully that'll fix few off field issues.

Well played by Sri Lanka. Hope they become a competitive team again. They certainly have the batting talent as shown today.

One match is barely something to take note of. Fair play.

But the shifts these players have put in today was shown to be a dominant display of batting. We were on gear 6 and never shifted. Majority of the batsman gunned the bowling down when poor balls were on offer.

Also, TP's death bowling was very decent. With Hathuru spear heading, SL has hit the reset button as of 2018.

I think this series is a big step back for Bangladesh for all the progress they had made recently. They were doing very well at home but this series has been a disappointment. They have lost the ODI's, test series and have lost the first T20 here.
