You cannot be playing for your country in this manner. No fight, no attempt to turn things around? Whats happened to them? Serious questions need to be asked.

give them some slack man. They've been on a horrible run in ODIs and had one of their worst performances today

its hard to constantly keep it turned on- they're only humans, reality gets to everyone

Outplayed by Pakistan completely although they were poor also.

They have been a disgraceful side for a while now.

The only plus side for them is to think that the return of Kusal Mendis and Matthews will strengthen their batting.

The shock of the test series result forced Pak to wise up and bring their A game

We shouldve won the test series, dumb management didnt select an offspinner.

Also pakistan has better bowlers in ODI, plus Babar owns the format

Seems to be a very disjointed unit since champions trophy. Something isnt right in their dressing room or something. The same perera turned back the clock to 2011-12 in the world 11 series. Seems like there is something unhealthy there. Whether thats the politics, coaching staff or board. Somethint is wrong. This is by no means a poor unit. Thirimanne was scoring centuries for fun during 2014-15. Kusal is one of the brightest talents. Dickwella is a brilliant batter. Tharanga and chandimal are pretty decent as well.
Just need to address the underlying problems. Once gunaratne mathews malinga kulasekara kusal perera return it will look a lot more competetive

They are just not good enough. They were quite lucky to win the test series when they won the toss both times.

Look like a team who want to go home and sit on one of the wonderful Sri Lankan beaches.

TBH, They have been out of sorts in one day cricket for a long time.

But agree they lack that passion and intensity. Confidence must be very low in the camp.

Reminded me of the teams who faced the great Windies of the 80's or the Aussies of 2000's. The oppsotion new the bowlers they are facing are simply too good for them.

They are pretty dire these days. Sure they have the odd glimpse of brilliance on their day but more often than not they are minnow like now.

Watched most of the India vs Sri Lanka series and it was a pain to watch. They looked disinterested and didn't care. 90% of the wickets were thrown away and didn't challenge our bowlers at all. The bowlers were bowling 3-4 bad balls an over and it was weird too weird to watch.

Don't even think they're trying right now to be honest. Players are unfit and lazy.

Can’t believe India got hammered by this lot in the CT. What an embarrassment they are.

The situation Lanka is in at the moment, Pakistan has been in too plenty of times. Constant defeat can do that to you. Sri Lanka have too many passengers in the side which isn't allowing the genuinely good players to shine. There are atleast 4-5 players who are minnow level. They need to be booted. Bring in their u19 captain. He was classiest u19 batsman I've seen in a while.

We were the same a year or so ago

Shouldn’t so quick to lay down judgement

They will get through this

SRL has declined alarmingly. This actually shows what miracle Ford was achieving with this team. They have the skill to succeed but the team isn't playing as an unit, neither playing for their shirt. I thought leadership was the biggest issue, but now I feel entire team is suffering from lack of motivation. If they play now in ZIM, I am afraid they'll lose both Test & ODI series there.

That team had Kusal Mendis, Asela Gunathilaka and Angelo Mathews. These guys when fit are automatic selections.

This is pretty much Lanka's B-Team. With the above guys, Lanka can be more competitive and can put up scores of 250 instead of their customary 200.

One thing is the players, but their board is also run by useless people.

Kusal Mendis is playing in this series, flopped and got eventually dropped. Even if Angelo was playing they would have not much of chance, but will certainly be strengthen.

They are just hapless n scared nothing new we've passed this phase zillion times

kusal perera ?? not kusal mendis

I've always admired Sri Lankan batsmen over the years - Kaluwitharana, Aravinda De Silva, Ranatunga, Jayasuriya, Sanga, Mahela etc, but this lot look a shadow of those wonderful players. It's like they are batting like Russel Arnold.

Sad to see.

I don't know, maybe they need some sort of danda (stick) to buckle down and string in good performances. Everyone seems to be playing for their place tbh.

Srilanka's problem is the same as Pakistan's, when you have players like Dinesh Chandimal replacing Sangakarra and Jayawardene as the mainstays of the side, then you know the overall standard of cricket will go much down.

I like the sound of that danda idea. Starting from the top they all need a good ol flogging. Absolutely pathetic the whole setup is rotten to the core. Once Herath retires that'll be the final nail in the coffin.

Russel Arnold was nuisance for opposition, he batted with a tail and saved many collapses, he could also bowl a bit. Not sure why you are comparing someone that averaged 35 batting at late middle order in early 2000s to these players.
