The lad has done his job..
Thanks Steve, all the best in the future!

Sad to hear this. He's done a remarkable job.

Definitrly seen a visible improvement in fielding under Rixon. Wish him all the best.

Wish he could have stayed till the WC, but family first and he is getting older.

Thanks and all the best

He's done a good job. Hope we find a good replacement. Would like an Austrlian or South Africa fielding coach.

Will be greatly missed, under him our fielding improved tremendously. Hopefully we find a like for like replacement at least.

And here we go. Fielding standards will only go downhill the day he leaves our camp. I fear for our performance in next world cup. Players will get back to being lazy, and will not leave their comfort zone. PCB needs to relax terms for him, or bring another guy who is just as competitive as him. No Luden please.

Steve-o has done a good job with the side. Our fielding has improved by leaps and bounds. Heck we outfielded NZ in NZ. If I had told you Pak would field better than NZ in a 5 ODI and 3 T20 series, just 3 years ago you would have thought I was having a laugh.

He was much more than a mere fielding coach. Very good brain to have in the dressing room.

Rixon will surely be missed, he's done an excellent job improving the fielding standards.

How about bringing Julien Fountain back? He did a good job in his time here, but he's currently working as an advisor to Team USA and also bringing data into cricket. He would keep the innovation and improvement train rolling in cricket.

Rixon to quit as Pakistan fielding coach

LAHORE: Pakistan’s current fielding coach Steve Rixon has signed a lucrative agreement with one of the key teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has decided to quit his current job with the Pakistan team after the upcoming two T20 matches against Scotland which are to be played on June 12 and 13.

Sources told Dawn that Rixon had not been been enjoying his job due to extensive travelling of the Pakistan team and he had been keen to sign an IPL team where he could get a handsome salary besides avoiding issues relating to travelling which will enable him to spend more time with his family.

Though not yet confirmed, the sources said Rixon may have signed an agreement with Chennai Super Kings which has won the IPL title thrice - in 2010, 2011 and 2018.

It may be mentioned here that Rixon has not had a tenure longer than two and half months in any of his past assignments and he has done the same now with the Pakistan team since he is leaving his fielding coach assignment after working for just about two years.

He was brought in by current Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur under whose coaching Pakistan won the ICC Champions Trophy and also played a drawn Test series against England 1-1 recently.

According to sources, the PCB also made Rixon an offer to enhance his salary by ten per cent but he has refused to extend his tenure with the national team. They added that the main reason behind Rixon’s decision was long travelling, otherwise the fielding coach was quite comfortable with the Pakistan team.

It must, however, be said that Rixon has done good work with the Pakistan team as marked improvement have be shown in fielding department by the national team players. That is an achievement since Pakistan teams in the past have struggled with the fielding standards, especially when compared to the high standards of foreign teams like Australia, South Africa, Ne Zealand and others.

[PICTURE] Pakistani cricket team honours Steve Rixon after Scotland T20I win

It was heartening to see the Pakistani boys insist to include the outgoing fielding coach - Steve Rixon - in the celebration and team photo after the 2-0 series win over Scotland.

Rixon was hanging back and refusing to come forward, however, Sarfraz came over and insisted Rixon to join the team whilst pulling him forward. The team gleefully handed the trophy to Rixon and positioned him centre stage and cheered around him.

I believe that due to the amount of travelling involved, Steve Rixon has decided to step down from his duties of Pakistani fielding coach.

Nice!
He's definitely made an impact

Little surprised Shehzad isn't in the centre of that picture with Rixon

The only fielding coach of Pakistan who made an impact in the fielding standards.

Wish him all the best and thank you on one hell of a job in a uneviable role

Why are we doing so bad since he's left. I would have thought his legacy had lived on, our players are fielding like schoolboys again.

Pakistan feeling the loss of Steve Rixon.

He was apparently unhappy with not being paid on time by the PCB and also unhappy with the lodging facilities at the NCA, the internet connections e.t.c

The drop catches have been some of the most inept attempts I have ever seen.

It's like they don't know how to set up to catch a ball.

I don't even want to talk about our fielding, it makes me go into a very dark dark place where bad things happen

Let Rixon write his own cheque and get him back.

If there is a language barrier with current fielding coach, shouldn't inzimam or intikhab or any of the experienced athlete fill the role of fielding coach? why waste on foreign coaches?

You get what you pay for so its not a waste

Yes. Inzamam as fielding coach

It's too simplistic to think that if Rixon was here the catching would be better. These are not kids in primary school who forget how to catch, these are professional Cricketers. A better explanation is tension and anxiety which leads to hard hands and catches being dropped.

Good point. Surely Rixon improved these guys but you do not forget how to catch

I guess this regime is doing a good job. Mickeys report wasn’t leaked and the interview process has been kept very confidential as well
