Two European tour events this year , I think hes the youngest to do that in last 15+ years .

Leading the European Tour.
Leading the Asian Tour .

This week in his first World Golf Championships , going into the final day has a two stroke lead .
Hes only 21 .

We have had Top-50 players in Jeev , Lahiiri in recent years , but sharma looks like is a level above anyone .

He is also leading the pack after 3rd round in Mexico. Mexico win could really be a big deal.

The other 2 were good, but Mexico contains some of the top ones, including Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson.

Though not born in India, I claim Vijay Singh for India. Great personality too, a man's man, and the only player to take the #1 ranking away from Tiger before Tiger's downfall, something Mickelson could not do.

Sharma is not long and powerful off the tee, like so many young players. But he can score.

I dont think we can claim Vijay singh :)

Looked very nervous today , missed a few easy puts early on and finished 9th . Anyway he will get his opportunites , next target get to Top50 ranking

I was shocked initially because I thought this thread might be about some Bollywood guy about to break into the US led movie industry, but now I see it's a golfer, everything is fine.

Anyone with a name like "Vijay Singh" and who looks like he does can certainly be claimed by Indians :)

Give the guy a break. He is 55 years old, can't expect him to win anymore. He had done it all. Won tournaments around the world, been ranked #1, and voted "Player of the Year" by his fellow PGA professionals. Definitely the second greatest golfer of the modern era after Woods.

I was talking about Sharma . :)

Now gets a special invitation from Augusta , jump from 400+ to 66 in three months he had almost qualfied on merit so I guess it was a well deserved invitation , playing his first masters already at 21.

Let's hope his upward trajectory continues.

Augusta would love a piece of the massive Indian market no doubt, and no investment required other than an invitation!
