Antoine Griezmann: Is Barcelona move done deal for Atletico Madrid forward?

Antoine Griezmann made the unusual move of announcing he is leaving Atletico Madrid this summer without having a deal signed with another new club.

Barcelona are expected to pay the 28-year-old France forward's 120m euros (£105m) release clause but what if they don't?

He was set to join the Spanish champions last summer, before revealing he was going to stay with Atleti in a documentary called 'The Decision'.

He made the latest announcement in a two-minute Twitter video on Tuesday.

Griezmann has scored 133 goals in 256 appearances for Atletico, who are second in La Liga, since joining from Real Sociedad in 2014.

BBC Sport understands Barcelona will pay the buyout clause, but the deal is not yet completed. So could he move elsewhere?

"There's a very big probability he will go to Barcelona even though the deal is not completed yet," football journalist Julien Laurens said on BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily. "Considering they had an agreement last summer, there's no doubt they can get an agreement quickly this time."

But he added it is not a foregone conclusion.

"He's playing with more teams than that. His lawyer has met with a lot of clubs since March because why not? His dream is to play for Barcelona at the Nou Camp and with Lionel Messi.

"He was so close to joining them last summer so it would make sense in many ways. If for some reason that doesn't happen and Barcelona are not so keen, or they can't afford him, he's open to other big clubs - coming to the Premier League for example."

Griezmann - whose only major club trophy is the 2018 Europa League - had been hoping to play this season's Champions League final at Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano home, but Juventus beat them in the last 16.

Where else could Griezmann go?

Could he end up making the short trip across the Spanish capital?

"Real Madrid would be an option, especially if Paul Pogba went there," said Laurens. Manchester United midfielder Pogba is Griezmann's international team-mate with France, with the pair winning the 2018 World Cup.

Griezmann has never played in his homeland, and Paris St-Germain may be unable to afford him having bought the two most expensive footballers in history in the past two seasons - Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

"PSG are below the pecking order," said Frenchman Laurens. "Two or three years ago they would have been really keen on him, but this time it's more difficult because of financial fair play.

"They need to sell before buying. Even if he's a bargain 120m euros it's still a lot of money. Also his wages are huge. I can't see PSG happening, as much as I'd love to."

However some media outlets are saying Ligue 1 winners PSG are Barcelona's main rivals.

"It's Griezmann so anything can happen. The technical director of PSG gave him the hope PSG was a possibility. Barcelona aren't coming out with the announcement because they haven't closed a deal yet," said Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague.

Griezmann will have no shortage of takers with Barca his most likely destination. There are serious question marks over Pogba's future at Man Utd and Bale at Real as well. At £600,000 a week Bale is in no hurry to pack up and leave, no other club will be able to afford such wages. I expect Man Utd to be the busiest club in the EPL followed by Arsenal and Chelsea. Don't see much happening at Anfiled or Man City.

Summer transfers.

Liverpool are talking with Pepe but others are interested as well. De Ligt who everyone wants is still to make up his mind. Man Utd have signed the great Daniel James from Swansea I think:yk2 The rest all missed out on him. What else?

I hope Umtiti ends up at Arsenal somehow. He is as good as any CB in the game provided that he stays fit, which admittedly is not something you would expect at a club like Arsenal.

Nevertheless, an injury prone Umtiti is still better than the circus show of Mustafi, the reckless Papa and past his prime Koscielny.

Griezmann looks to be heading to PSG. I think it is the perfect move for both parties, and not just because he is French.

He was not going to succeed at Barcelona and they dodged a bullet. Left-footed forwards cannot play with Messi, who has derailed Dybala’s Argentina career as well.

The Hazard saga may have ended, but the De Ligt one continues. He is definitely Barca bound but you never know.

With the season over and the transfer window open, Premier League clubs are set to open their wallets and start spending.

But when you are shopping for anything, it's a good idea to look at what you've already got in order to work out what you need.

In analysing the profiles of all 20 squads, we picked out six clubs facing a particularly interesting transfer window.

Liverpool: A squad built to go again
After achieving an incredible 97 points in the Premier League and winning the Champions League, Liverpool are expected to stick mostly with what they have.

With so many first-team players at the peak of their careers, there is little need for the club to twist again in the transfer window like it did last summer.

Liverpool squad graphic
James Milner is the only first-team player this season over 30 and is in sufficiently good shape that he's likely to still be a part of Jurgen Klopp's plans next season.

With Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge poised to leave, the Reds will need to make some additions to the squad, although a fully-fit Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be 'like a new signing'™ for the midfield.

Klopp said in March that the best way to achieve success is to "bring together a group of players, try to develop them all together and then stay together for a while".

Expect this group to challenge together again next season.

Chelsea: Time for the youngsters?
Chelsea's traditional reliance on experience paid off once again this season as they claimed a third-placed finish and the Europa League.

But with players leaving and a transfer ban looming, the London club might have to break with tradition and turn to youth.

Fortunately for Maurizio Sarri, or whoever replaces him if he leaves, the Blues do have a strong group of players at their peak.

Chelsea squad graphic
But the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid is a huge blow, with the Belgian's boots almost impossible to fill.

The arrival of 20-year-old United States forward Christian Pulisic will bravely attempt to do that, as well as provide competition to the ageing Willian and Pedro.

And there could be good news for serial loanees such as Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi, especially given the various struggles of Chelsea's strikers this season.

With opportunities potentially arising for younger players, it's unfortunate that Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi have suffered serious injuries that will keep them out for quite a while.

Man Utd: The start of an overhaul
After finishing outside the top four for the third time in four seasons, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted the club "will need players in".

But after a season of below-par performances, for many fans it's about which players the club can get out. Just look at the number of big-money players in this chart who played fewer than 50% of minutes in the league in 2018-19.

Man Utd squad graphic
With Marouane Fellaini gone, Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia going and Juan Mata out of contract, the full-back position and midfield are likely to be the club's focus, especially with Ashley Young turning 34 in July.

Solskjaer could, however, see it as an opportunity to give the youngsters Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira a chance and focus on spending in other areas.

Above all, one of his main tasks will be to find a settled first XI among his squad. Paul Pogba was the only outfield player to start 30 games, compared to six players at Liverpool and seven at Chelsea who did so, and even his future is far from certain.

The club's scatter-gun approach to recruitment and constant changing of managers means Solskjaer will need more than one transfer window to get the team back on track.

Leicester: League's most exciting young squad
Of all the squads in the Premier League, Leicester's is the one most in transition, with very few players actually at the peak of their careers.

Leicester squad graphic
While the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Jamie Vardy are still key players, many of the club legends that won that incredible title three years ago are not, and have been replaced by an exciting group of relative youngsters led by Ben Chilwell, Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison.

After his impressive loan spell, the club's biggest task this summer will likely be trying to sign Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans on a permanent basis to add to the promise that already exists.

With Chilwell and Harry Maguire established in the England set-up and four Leicester players in this summer's England Under-21 squad for the European Championship, it's clear why taking charge of a squad with such an exciting future was too good an opportunity for former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers to turn down.

Burnley: McNeil the exception for experienced squad
Just as they have their way of playing on the pitch, Burnley have their own way of building a squad off it.

While only Watford had an older starting XI on average last season, relying almost exclusively on players at the peak of their careers means the club will enjoy their fourth successive season in the Premier League.

The exception to that rule was 19-year-old midfielder Dwight McNeil, as the chart below illustrates so starkly.

Burnley squad graphic
That Sean Dyche showed such trust in the youngster to start him ahead of experienced players during their fight against relegation shows just how talented the midfielder is.

The club's signings last summer weren't trusted quite so much, however. While Joe Hart eventually lost his place in goal to Tom Heaton, the £26 million pair of Ben Gibson and Matej Vydra started just four games between them.

Brighton: new manager... but burned by past spending?
After inheriting a squad that finished just two points above the relegation zone, new manager Graham Potter will undoubtedly want to make some signings, but it will be interesting to see what he can achieve with the current group of players.

Brighton squad graphic
He was the only player to score more than five Premier League goals for the club last season, but 35-year-old Glen Murray will not be able to carry Brighton's goalscoring burden forever, so a new striker will likely be high on Potter's shopping list.

The club spent almost £60 million on the quartet of Yves Bissouma, Jose Izquierdo, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Jurgen Locadia but none of them fully established themselves under Potter's predecessor Chris Hughton.

With such a huge outlay, Potter will likely be encouraged by the club to get the most out of them.

Like Burnley, the club's fight against the drop meant Hughton generally relied more on players at their peak rather than promising youngsters.

Given that only Brentford had a younger starting XI on average than Potter's Swansea in the Championship, that could well change.

I would like to hear your opinion on the future of Arsenal, do you see us as title contenders in the future or not? I personally think we are being milked as a cash cow who relies on former glory to which the owner just uses Arsenal as a means of making more profit. He only cares about his American football team.

The only solution is a takeover by a some ambitious billionaire. Arsenal fans can harp about tradition all they want, but at this rate, this club will barely be top 10 material a decade from now. Arsenal have absolutely everything to be back among the elites of football, but that is not going to happen without heavy investment by an owner who cares for the club and wants it to win trophies.

That's true, if you think about it Chelsea are lucky to have an impatient owner who will boot out a manager if he doesn't succeed but look at the amount of silverware they have got. They might not be titans like Man City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Real Madrid but they're doing the basics right and have given themselves the title of "pride of London". Some of my mates have joked about the idea that Arsenal will turn their fortunes around if a rich Arab took over Arsenal (which would be a dream come true), my instinct tells me that our current owner might give up on the Arsenal ownership pretty soon due to fan complaints, we're an elite football club by history.

Another main thing that needs to be sorted is the horrible previous regime with contracts, certain players do not deserve the wages they get (Ozil and Mkh). I don't understand how a club that had the likes of Sol Campbell, Lee Dixon and Tony Adams can struggle to get world-class defenders, yet we still chase players we don't need (James Rodriguez for example).

Arsenal contract policy as well as decision-making in the transfer window have also contributed to its decline.

A club like Barcelona can afford to spend 80m on a flop, but Arsenal cannot afford blunders with its shoe-string budget.

The fact that they allowed Sanchez, Ramsey and Cazorla for £0 is an absolute farce. The club should have recouped at least £100m for this trio. In addition, they signed duds like Xhaka and Mustafi for £65m.

I like this new policy of selling players in their last two years of contract unless they are willing to sign an extension, but let’s see if they walk the talk. If that is so, Ozil will have to be sold this summer.

He is his comfort zone and knows that he is not remotely good enough to play for a bigger club, so he will have to be forced out.

£50m - thats a lot, Juventus Cancelo who i believe is the best right back in the world is going for £55-60m to man city

So Juve have Ramsey and Rabiot On verge of getting ,De Legit, swapping spinazzola for roma italian youngstar pelligrini.

Interested in zaniola from roma- higuain may be swapped in this deal.

Juve will most likely sell cancello to Man city if we do we need a right back - i didnt want juve to sell cancelo

So finally AWB has been brought in and you would think the next priority would be a centre half. With De Ligt off to Juventus, Kouliably staying at Napoli, Skriniar also staying put in Inter Milan, United not showing interest in Alderwiereld or Ruben Dias. That leaves non other than Harry Maguire who would cost £70+ Million. Is he the right kind of CB, kind off I would say, he plays well with the ball, solid at set pieces and defensively decent. Me personally I would also bring in Toby with Harry. Alderwiereld brings in experience which would be key for Manchester United rather than rely on Jones and Smalling.

Arsenal have completed their first transfer of the summer with the signing of Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli.

The 18-year-old forward has signed "a long-term contract", the Gunners have confirmed.

Martinelli has joined from Brazilian side Ituano, where he had scored 10 goals in 34 games after making his debut in 2017.

"I model my game on Cristiano Ronaldo," Martinelli said.

"He is a player who works hard, pushing himself to the next level. Always in the run for titles and individual trophies.

"This is a dream since I was a child and also my family's dream for me to be playing in Europe and playing for a big team like Arsenal. I am going to take this opportunity."

Martinelli was recently called up to train with the senior Brazil national team in preparation for the Copa America.

"It was an amazing feeling, a dream come true, being able to be beside great players," he said of that experience.

"It is a great opportunity to learn and I enjoyed it as much as I could."

Tanguy Ndombele: Tottenham sign France midfielder from Lyon

Tottenham have signed France midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Ligue 1 side Lyon for a club record 60m euros (£53.8m).

The 22-year-old has signed a deal until 2025 and the fee could rise to 70m euros (£62.8m) with incentives.

Tottenham's previous transfer record was the £42m paid to sign defender Davinson Sanchez from Ajax in August 2017.

Ndombele joined Lyon in 2017 and helped them finish third in the French top-flight last season.

He also twice played against Manchester City in Champions League group games.

In total Ndombele, who has six caps for France, made 96 appearances for Lyon and registered 16 assists.

Lyon thanked the player for his time at the club, praising his "professionalism and his performances".

Ndombele is Tottenham's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Jack Clarke from Leeds United.

The winger, who was Spurs' first signing since Brazil forward Lucas Moura joined from Paris St-Germain in January 2018, was immediately loaned back to the Championship side for the 2019-20 season.

Rodri: Manchester City complete £62.8m record signing of midfielder from Atletico Madrid

Manchester City say Spain midfielder Rodri is a "perfect fit" for the team after moving from Atletico Madrid for a club record £62.8m.

Rodri, 23, joins on a five-year deal and is City boss Pep Guardiola's second signing of the summer after defender Angelino rejoined from PSV Eindhoven.

"Rodri has proven himself as a hugely talented, young midfielder," said director of football Txiki Begiristain.

"He has as all the attributes we are looking for."

He added: "He works hard defensively, makes himself available to receive the ball and uses it well when in possession. We are confident he will be a success."

Rodri will wear the number 16 for City, the same number worn by Sergio Aguero when he first moved to the Etihad from Atletico.

The fee for the Atletico academy graduate surpasses City's previous record of £60m in signing Riyad Mahrez in 2018.

"What City have achieved in the last two years has been amazing and I'm looking forward to being part of such a talented squad," said Rodri.

"It's not just the titles they have won, but the way they have managed it, playing attacking football at all times.

"It's a style that excites me, as do the club's ambitions."

Rodri rejoined Atletico in May 2018 after three years at Villarreal and made 34 league appearances as they finished second in Spain's top flight.

He made his international debut in a friendly against Germany last year and has made six senior international appearances.

City had made Rodri one of their main targets this summer, with Guardiola keen to sign a defensively minded player to bolster the Premier League champions' squad.

Ayoze Perez: Leicester City sign Newcastle striker for £30m

Leicester City have signed striker Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United for £30m on a four-year deal.

Perez, 25, leaves St James' Park after five years. The Spaniard was the club's top scorer in 2018-19 with 12 goals.

He is Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers' second signing of the summer, following the arrival of defender James Justin from Luton Town.

"Ayoze will be a wonderful addition to the squad. He's a player who will excite our fans," Rodgers said.

"He's quick, has a good eye for goal and he's experienced in the Premier League too."

Perez, who was bought from Tenerife for £1.5m in June 2014, has scored 48 times in 195 appearances for Newcastle and got the winning goal on each of his previous two visits to King Power Stadium.

"I'm very happy and very pleased. I'm very proud to be part of the Leicester family and I can't wait to get started," said Perez.

Gianluigi Buffon returns to Juventus after one season at Paris St-Germain

Former Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has completed an emotional return to former club Juventus.

Buffon, 41, spent 17 years with the Turin giants before joining Paris St-Germain last summer.

The keeper, who announced on 5 June that he would leave PSG after a single season, underwent a medical with Juventus on Thursday morning.

He has signed a one-year contract with the bianconeri, who are now managed by former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.

The former Italy skipper, who won 176 international caps, is one of the most decorated players in the game.

In addition to the 2006 World Cup, has Buffon won nine Serie A titles and four Italian Cups, and he also won the French league last season.

He needs to make just eight more Serie A appearances to break the record of 647 currently held by AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini.

Ander Herrera: PSG sign former Man Utd midfielder

Paris St-Germain have signed midfielder Ander Herrera on a five-year deal following the end of his Manchester United contract.

The Spaniard, 29, joins the French champions on a free transfer after five years at Old Trafford.

He scored 20 goals and produced 27 assists in 187 appearances for United, winning the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.

"Paris St-Germain is the greatest club in France," said Herrera.

"It keeps on improving and competes to win every possible title. I hope to continue to make history with the club.

"I promise three things: work, professionalism and passion."

Herrera confirmed in May he would be leaving United when his contract expired at the end of the season, after failing to agree terms on a new deal.

He joined the Premier League club from Athletic Bilbao for £29m in 2014 and has two caps for Spain.

His Wage?

£300k/week

thanks, too much - hes an average player, psg should have went in for Jorginho instead.

Lets see who PSG replace Rabiot with.

Juve bought another player - demiral from Sassuolo , a 21yr old Turkish defender, im very pleased with this buy, 18m euro's very good buy - one of the best defenders last yr. If juve do purchase de ligt-be very interesting what will happen to rugani - thats 3 centre backs. Rugani in my eyes hasn't improved much - i can see him leave next yr to inter/ napoli

it is too much but considering he was free, it balances it out

your right, however he won't really add much.

James to napoli is nearly done- very good buy,

Matuidi and Khedira will most likely be sold this summer and most likely dybala

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata will join Atletico Madrid on a permanent basis after his 18-month loan expires at the end of next season.

Morata, 26, has been at Atletico since January, scoring six goals in 17 games for the Spanish side.

He was Chelsea's record signing when he joined for £60m from Real Madrid on a five-year contract in July 2017 and scored 24 goals in 72 games.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus player won the FA Cup while at Chelsea.

"Happy it's official," Morata, who joined Atletico as a youth player in 2005, said on social media.

Quiz: Can you name these Atletico strikers?
In a statement, Atletico said: "The Spanish striker will play at our club on loan this season, as was agreed when he joined Atletico in the January transfer window, and the move will become permanent at the beginning of the 2020-21 season."

Atletico signed Portugal forward Joao Felix this month for £113m from Benfica - making him the fifth most-expensive transfer in history.

The La Liga club also signed Mexico midfielder Hector Herrera and Brazil centre-back Felipe from Porto.

Atletico striker Antoine Griezmann has confirmed he will leave the club this summer, with Barcelona expected to pay his buyout clause of 120m euros.

But Atletico say they have rejected Barcelona's offer and ordered Frenchman Griezmann to report for pre-season.

Marko Arnautovic leaves West Ham after completing £23.3million move to Shanghai SIPG

West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic has completed his move to Shanghai SIPG, ahead of a formal announcement early next week.

The striker will join the Chinese Super League side, whose current squad includes former Chelsea star Oscar and Brazil international Hulk, in a deal worth £23.3million.

The 30-year-old was denied a move to China in January, with the club insisting they would not be bullied into a quick sale.

It is understood Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini was willing to let the Austria international move on during the mid-season window and was eager for the club to cash in on an unhappy player as soon as possible in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers rejected a £20m offer earlier in June but have now sanctioned a deal on improved terms.

Arnautovic will leave after two seasons at the London Stadium, having joined from Stoke City in 2017. He scored 22 goals in 65 appearances for the club.

Pellegrini has targeted Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez as his replacement with the sale of Arnautovic freeing up more funds for the club to press on with a move for the Uruguay international.

West Ham offer to meet Maxi Gomez's £44.85m Celta Vigo release clause

West Ham have offered to meet Celta Vigo the £44.85m (€50m) release clause for striker Maxi Gomez, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News understands discussions are ongoing with regards to the method of payment.

Under La Liga rules, West Ham can trigger the striker's release clause by lodging the full amount directly at La Liga's headquarters in Madrid.

The Premier League side, however, are proposing to pay the £44.85m amount in instalments and therefore will need to negotiate a structure which will be accepted by Celta Vigo.

Valencia have rivalled West Ham's interest in Gomez, but it is understood the Hammers are prepared to pay double what the Spanish side are offering and will use the proceeds from the sale of Marko Arnautovic to Shanghai SIPG to fund the deal.

Valencia had initially reached an agreement which involved three players (including former Celta Vigo forward Santi Mina), plus cash, in exchange for the player.

But Sky sources believe this deal went as far as the three players arriving in Vigo for medicals - only for those to be halted when Gomez expressed his wish to move to the Hammers instead.

Although both West Ham and Valencia previously had offers of £29m, plus add-ons, accepted by Celta, they are now believed to be demanding the £45m release clause in the Uruguayan's contract.

It is understood an agreement over personal terms has been agreed in principle with West Ham hoping they can finalise the move next week.

Samir Nasri signs for Anderlecht on free transfer

Anderlecht have completed the signing of Samir Nasri on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old will now join up with former Manchester City team-mate Vincent Kompany, who took over as player-manager of the Belgian side in May.

Nasri was released by West Ham at the end of last season following an injury-ridden spell at the London Stadium, where he made just five Premier League appearances for Manuel Pellegrini's side, after joining on a free transfer in January.

Nasri said: "I received a number of great offers, but in the end I chose RSC Anderlecht with a great deal of conviction. I absolutely want to help Vincent and the club to succeed in their set-up.

"Vincent Kompany was my team-mate at City between 2011 and 2017. I know him through and through and know which project he has in mind with Anderlecht.

"Together with him and the entire team I want to do everything to make this a success."

In February 2018, Nasri was given a six-month ban after receiving an intravenous treatment at a Los Angeles clinic in breach of the World Anti-Doping Agency's rules.

The ban was later increased to 18 months following an appeal against the original sanction by UEFA's ethics and disciplinary inspector.

Nasri joined City from Arsenal in 2011 and went on to win two Premier League titles and a League Cup.

Youri Tielemans Signs For Leicester City On A Permanent Deal

Leicester City Football Club have agreed terms with AS Monaco for the transfer of midfielder Youri Tielemans for an undisclosed fee, subject to Premier League and international clearance.

- Youri Tielemans joins Leicester City on a permanent deal
- The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Club
- Tielemans spent the second half of last season on loan with the Foxes
- He scored three goals and contributed four assists in 13 appearances

The 22-year-old has signed a four-year deal after a highly impressive loan spell with the Foxes during the second half of last season and becomes the third arrival of the summer after James Justin and Ayoze Pérez.

The talented Belgium international has represented his country 23 times, including at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

He has also made over 250 senior appearances in the top divisions of Belgium, France and England and is widely considered to be of the most exciting young talents in European football.

I believe that we have the talent in our squad to achieve something special and for any player, that’s an exciting thing to be a part of. I really can’t wait to get started again with this Club and do everything I can to help my team-mates.

His brilliant Premier League performances in 2018/19 – which saw him score three goals and assist four in 13 appearances – attracted the attention of a host of Europe’s top clubs, but it is with Leicester City that Tielemans has chosen to commit his future.

Speaking to LCFC.com, Tielemans said: “It is such a great feeling to sign for this Football Club. Ever since I arrived on loan last season, all the players, the staff and the fans have been fantastic with me, so I’m thrilled to be able to become a Leicester City player.

“I believe that we have the talent in our squad to achieve something special and for any player, that’s an exciting thing to be a part of. I really can’t wait to get started again with this Club and do everything I can to help my team-mates.”

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers said: “I’m delighted that Youri has chosen to be part of Leicester City’s journey. It’s an incredibly exciting time for this Football Club and to be able to bring players of Youri’s quality here is an indication of the hunger for success we have here.

“Youri fit brilliantly into the squad last season, he’s already shown that he’s capable of making an impact in the Premier League and he adds another option to an incredibly talented group of players here at Leicester City.”

Born in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw in Belgium, Tielemans is a product of the youth academy at Anderlecht, where he signed his first professional contract in July 2013, aged just 16. A debut in the UEFA Champions League against Olympiakos came three months later as he became the youngest Belgian player to ever feature in the competition.

Tielemans made 185 appearances for Anderlecht in all competitions over four seasons, scoring 35 goals, and helped the side to two Belgian Pro League titles. He also made rapid progress individually too, as in his first two seasons, he was voted Belgian Young Professional Footballer of the Year and, in 2016/17, Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year.

After moving to AS Monaco in the summer of 2017, he made his debut for the club against Paris Saint-Germain and went on to appear 35 times for the side in his first season.

His performances in the French top tier continued to catch the eye last term, as he scored five goals in just 20 Ligue 1 appearances from midfield before joining Leicester City on loan in January 2019.

I’m delighted that Youri has chosen to be part of Leicester City’s journey. It’s an incredibly exciting time for this Football Club and to be able to bring players of Youri’s quality here is an indication of the hunger for success we have here.

He made his debut against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in February and his quick adaptation to the demands of the Premier League soon established him as a fans’ favourite.

His first goal came in a 3-1 win over Fulham at King Power Stadium, while he added further strikes against Huddersfield and Arsenal to end the campaign with three goals and four assists in just 13 games.

At international level, Tielemans made his debut for Belgium in November 2016 and has gone on to feature for them 23 times. He was also part of the Belgium squad that finished third at the 2018 World Cup – starting in both victories against England in Russia.

He will now link up with the rest of the Leicester City squad in France for a training camp as preparations continue for the 2019/20 Premier League season

Jay Rodriguez: Burnley to re-sign West Brom striker, while Erik Pieters moves from Stoke

Burnley are set to re-sign West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez and have confirmed the signing of Stoke City defender Erik Pieters.

Rodriguez, 29, will cost his hometown club an initial fee of £5m, with another £5m guaranteed in 12 months.

He has not gone on West Brom's pre-season trip to Spain and will instead have a medical at his former club.

Dutchman Pieters, 30, has moved for an undisclosed fee and has signed a two-year deal, with the option for a third.

The former Netherlands left-back spent six seasons with Stoke, but was on loan with Amiens in France's Ligue 1 for the second half of last season.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, began his professional career at Turf Moor in 2007 before signing for Southampton in 2012.

West Brom signed Rodriguez from Southampton for a fee of about £12m in 2017, after he had scored 32 goals in 126 appearances for Saints.

He made his only England appearance against Chile in November 2013.

Tyrone Mings: Aston Villa complete £20m signing of Bournemouth defender

Aston Villa have completed the £20m signing of Bournemouth central defender Tyrone Mings.

Villa boss Dean Smith and chief executive Christian Purslow were determined to complete a permanent move for Mings, 26, after he impressed on loan last season.

Mings helped the Villans return to the Premier League in May via the play-offs.

"We're really pleased to have Tyrone back at Aston Villa," Smith said.

"He will be an integral part of the squad for the new season and I look forward to working with him and helping to further develop his game."

Mings is Villa's sixth signing of the summer. His transfer follows deals for Kortney Hause and Anwar El Ghazi, who were both also on loan at the club last season, as well as Matt Targett from Southampton, Wesley from Club Brugge and Jota from Birmingham City.

Right-back Frederic Guilbert, who Villa signed from Caen in the January transfer window, has also joined this summer having spent the second half of last season on loan at his previous club.

Villa are pursuing a £10m deal for Egypt midfielder Trezeguet, who plays for Kasimpasa in Turkey.

Trezeguet was in the Egypt team knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations by South Africa in Cairo on Saturday.

Manager Smith and Villa sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch were in Cairo for the match as they explore a potential deal.

Smith and Pitarch also used the trip to Cairo to run the rule over another Aston Villa transfer target, West Bromwich Albion central defender Ahmed Hegazi, who figured in the shock defeat against South Africa.

Villa are determined to strengthen in defence for their return to the Premier League, as proved by the deal for Mings, and the 28-year-old Baggies' star is also on their radar.

Trezeguet was the main subject of their attention but Villa are also ready to move for Hegazi given any encouragement from their Midlands rivals.

They have also been linked with Stoke City's England goalkeeper Jack Butland but an initial price tag of £27m has stopped a potential move in its tracks.

Mario Lemina: Manchester United make enquiry for Southampton midfielder

Manchester United have made an enquiry into signing Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina, Sky Sports News understands.

Lemina has been given permission to speak to other clubs by Southampton, having not been included on their pre-season training camp in Austria.

Southampton are aware of interest from a number of other clubs in the 25-year-old Gabon international, who has made 46 Premier League appearances for the Saints since arriving from Juventus in 2017.

Manchester United are also preparing a bid for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, according to Sky sources.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already signed two home-grown youngsters in Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bisaaka.

Paul Pogba, who has been reportedly linked with a move away from Old Trafford, has trained with his Manchester United team-mates in Australia as speculation continues over his future.

Aston Villa have signed Brentford defender Ezri Konsa in a £12m deal.

The 21-year-old had been a key target for Villa boss Dean Smith, who managed the England Under-21 centre-back when he was in charge of the Bees.

Konsa played 47 times for Brentford after a £2.5m move from Charlton in 2018.

"He's a high-potential player who I believe can step up to the Premier League and I'm really looking forward to working with him again," said Smith.

Konsa will join up with the Villa squad on Thursday when they fly to the United States to continue their pre-season work.

Villa have prioritised strengthening their defence having also signed Tyrone Mings, 26, from Bournemouth while still exploring the possibility of re-signing Manchester United's Axel Tuanzebe, 21, on loan.

Tuanzebe helped Villa to promotion back to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

Since promotion, Villa have signed Mings for £20m, defender Kortney Hause from Wolves, winger Anwar El Ghazi from Lille, left-back Matt Targett from Southampton, forward Wesley from Club Brugge and midfielder Jota from Birmingham.

Smith's side start their Premier League season away at Tottenham on 10 August.

Barcelona have signed England Under-16 striker Louie Barry on a three-year contract from West Bromwich Albion.

Birmingham-born Barry, 16, had been with the Baggies since he was six and turned down the offer of a professional contract with the Championship club.

West Brom will receive £235,000 in compensation from the Spanish champions, according to news agency Reuters.

Barcelona say Barry will play for their under-19 squad next season.

The deal still needs to be ratified by West Brom and the Football Association, although that is expected to be a formality.

The Spanish club say the forward "is considered one of the best young players in English football" and "has passed the relevant medical tests".

Barry won the Golden Boot with three goals as he helped England Under-16s win Val-de-Marne, a Uefa tournament, last year.

He also scored two goals in four games as England U16s finished third at the Montaigu Tournament in France earlier this year.

MILAN - Nicolò Barella is officially a new Inter player. The Italian footballer arrives from Cagliari Calcio on a temporary annual basis with the obligation to transform the temporary transfer into a definitive transfer. Barella has signed a five-year contract.

A bottle of Champagne just uncorked: they have always called it that, Nicolò Barella . He, born in Cagliari on 7 February 1997, grew up with three irreplaceable cornerstones in his life: family, Sardinia and football. From soccer, strictly. Because when his mother took him to basketball training, he found him in a corner dribbling his feet with a basketball.

In his destiny there was and there is football. An attitude trained in the Calcio Gigi Riva school in Cagliari. A name for a program, especially for those born in Cagliari. A former Nerazzurri, Gianfranco Matteoli, immediately noticed that Nicolò stood out. For personality, for being lively, for his choices in the field. Features he has developed over the years, always keeping his personality. Nicolò has never changed his way of being. In the field he is not shy, he is not afraid. He contrasts so much because he is inclined to win back the ball, because his ambition is to win. He finished last season at the top of the list of players who have recovered more balls and in the last two seasons it was the midfielder who won the most duels.

The draw for the youth team at Cagliari, a loan to Como, then a record: the youngest player to have worn the captain's armband of the Sardinian club, at 20 years old. 121 matches are played in A with the rossoblùs, with 7 goals. With the national team he has collected presences with all the Under, from 15 to 21, collecting a silver at the European Under-19 Championship (2016) and a bronze at the Under-20 World Cup (2017). But now Nicolò Barella is part of the senior national team: 7 appearances and two goals.

Determined and ambitious, Nicolò Barella begins his new adventure with the Inter shirt. The wolf of all the Nerazzurri people goes to his mouth. # WelcomeNicolò

What is the record number of signings for a club in a window?...

So far for Villa it is 8 and apparently plenty more to come...

Villa

Wesley 22.5m
Mings 20m
Targett 14m
Konza 12m
El Ghazi 8m
Jota 4m
Hause 3m
Luiz 15m (pending a work permit)

Net spend so far: 84m (99m if we include Luiz)

And we may possibly still sign another 7 players...

Matthijs de Ligt: Ajax defender set to complete Juventus move

Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt is set to fly to Turin on Tuesday to complete his move to Juventus.

It is thought the Italian champions will pay £67.5m for the 19-year-old defender, who led Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals last season.

The Netherlands centre-back had also been linked with Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris-St Germain.

In his three seasons at Ajax, he won the Eredivisie and the Dutch Cup, and was a Europa League finalist in 2017.

De Ligt scored eight goals in 77 league appearances for the Amsterdam club, who he joined at the age of nine.

He became the club's youngest captain in March 2018.

He scored the winning goal against Juve to send Ajax through to the Champions League semi-finals, where they lost to Tottenham.

De Ligt made his debut for the Netherlands in March 2017, despite having started just two league games for Ajax at the time.

Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier set for Atlético Madrid after £20m fee agreed

Kieran Trippier is on the brink of sealing a move to Atlético Madrid in a deal worth £20m plus add-ons and he has been given permission by Tottenham to travel to the Spanish capital for a medical.

The full-back, who starred for England at the World Cup in Russia, endured a difficult season last time out and Mauricio Pochettino, the Spurs manager, has decided to cash in on him as he reshapes his squad for what he has called the “next chapter” of his tenure.

Atlético want a replacement for Juanfran, who they officially released last month, and tried to take Nelson Semedo from Barcelona only to be rebuffed. They have monitored Trippier for some weeks, registering their interest with Spurs and they have now made their move.

Spurs have excused Trippier from their team flight to Singapore on Wednesday – where they will step up their pre-season preparations – and, were the deal to go through, Pochettino would be left with Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters as options as right-back. He is also confident that Juan Foyth, nominally a centre-half, can play in the position.

Spurs remain interested in Fulham’s left-sided player, Ryan Sessesgnon, together with his twin brother, Steven, who plays at right-back. Tottenham have already broken their transfer record with the £55m capture of Tanguy Ndombele and have also completed the £10m purchase of Jack Clarke, who has been loaned back to Leeds, but any moves for any other targets such as William Saliba of Saint-Étienne or Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos would likely to have be funded by sales.

we did, we were in for him from the beginning, negotiations broke down with his agent riola, after his pogba drama and we not willing to let him go. reports suggest we want to distance ourselves as far as possible from riola as he's nothing but trouble, i heard he wants a low buy out clause for de light too, so if you sign him, good luck in trying to keep him for more than 2/3 seasons,

Official: Valencia sign Maxi Gomez

Valencia have finalised the signing of Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo on a five-year deal that will run until 2024.

The Uruguayan had been Marcelino's first-choice target this summer and Los Che granted their coach his wish by delivering the forward, having taken their time to negotiate with the Galicians.

There were differences and obstacles throughout the discussions, with Celta initially wanting Valencia to trigger his 50 million euro release clause.

West Ham then expressed their interest, putting 32.5 million euros on the table, before later hitting that 50 million euro mark, but Maxi himself wanted to stay put in Spain and was particularly attracted by the prospect of playing in the Champions League.

The forward signed for Celta for around four million euros two seasons ago, exploding into life with 18 goals in 39 games before bagging 13 goals in 36 matches in 2018/19.

Italian champions Juventus have completed the £67.5m signing of 19-year-old Dutch international defender Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.

De Ligt, who had also been linked with Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris St-Germain, has signed a five-year contract with the Serie A side.

Juventus said the fee was "payable in five financial years" with "additional costs of 10.5m euros (£9m)".

De Ligt helped Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals last season.

He made his debut for the Amsterdam club in 2016 and became their youngest captain in March 2018.

De Ligt scored eight goals in 77 league appearances, winning the Dutch domestic league and cup double last season, as well as reaching a Europa League final in 2017.

He scored the winning goal against Juve to send Ajax through to the Champions League semi-finals last season, where they lost to Tottenham.

The defender made his debut for the Netherlands in March 2017, having started only two league games for Ajax at the time.

Jurgen Klopp insisted he is happy with his Liverpool squad even if the club do not make any big summer signings.

The only newcomer in the Reds' squad during the transfer window has been 17-year-old Dutch defender Sepp Van Den Berg, and Klopp does not expect that situation to change significantly.

He said on liverpoolfc.com: "We are pretty relaxed in that, we will see what's coming up.

"How I said, it will not be the biggest transfer window of LFC; we invested a lot in the team in the last two years, I would say. We cannot spend every year in the same manner.

"People talk about it like, 'now another £300million or £200million'. There are maybe only two clubs in the world - it looks in the moment like Barcelona and (Real) Madrid can do the same - (Manchester) City and PSG that can do it every year.

"But we are fine. I'm happy with the team, we are really happy. We have to see if we find maybe one position, if we find something for it, but there's no real pressure because it's not about signing a player. We have solutions for all the situations.

"I'm really looking forward to the season, it will be really exciting again."

The European champions will continue their preparations for the new campaign with a match against Klopp's former team Borussia Dortmund in Indiana on Saturday.

Star trio Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Alisson Becker will begin pre-season training ahead of Liverpool's summer camp in Evian later this month after being given extra time off because of international commitments.

Meanwhile there were reports Nabil Fekir, a year on from his failed move to Anfield, has reportedly agreed to join Real Betis this summer. Canal+ journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin has claimed he’s agreed a five-year contract with the La Liga club with Lyon agreeing a €25million deal.

And Daniel Sturridge learned his fate over breaches of FA betting rules. The former Reds striker fined £75,000 and handed a six-week suspension. However, the FA disagree with the findings and will appeal against the charges and the sanction imposed.

so its not valid for 2 years if that article is correct?

Well thats what i said, juve will just develop him to make reach his peak, then he will sign for RM in 2022, so you can weep when you see him head to spain in a couple years after you develop him.

You are correct, however juve have always done this from the days of Michael laudrop, we do sell our players to the bigger teams.

I don't mind this way, if thr above happen s with de ligt, we've made 40% profit. That's huge, nearly as big as selling pogba- that went in our favour.
Along with selling Zidane - bought nedved/ thuram / buffon /zambrotta.

It's worth selling dybala also and buy de gea of oblak and maybe chiesa from fiorentina- imo

Good buy, I missed this. Suprised roma sold him- I would have gave him the captaincy, however roma haven't done anything and napoli are trying to improve.

Don't think napoli with get James from Madrid - looks like he's going to ath Madrid.

I've seen a report that napoli are after that player called from pepe- same guy arsenal are after. Haven't seen anything from pwpe- so I'll be honest - cannot say if he's good or bad
