Stupid, Stupid, Stupid

Was his reaction to Pant's dismissal a few days ago.

And look at what he did today?

Wonder if nastiness instead of gentle lullabies works for Asian players when it comes to motivation?

Nothing like a Bata Size 10 chappal to motivate Asian players.

Gavaskar is not going to be a good mentor. He was just venting out his frustration in the moment of heat after watching Pant play that shot.

He won’t be able to do it to any other team outside of India and even among Indian team also, he doesn’t have the guts to be critical of everyone equally.

Sunny G is old and doesn’t have much to contribute outside the commentary he does.

"Nothing like a Bata Size 10 chappal to motivate Asian players."

I love this. I often recommend this treatment to Indian parents of this era too, when they care to listen. It is a forgotten treasure in urban families.

What’s the point? Even if he does exceptionally well, he would still be dropped after 1 series.

He is behaving like old chachu , Mamu instead cricketer .

Not suitable for any coaching, mentor roles.

Absolutely nobody in Indian cricket gives a rats tail about old foggies like Gavaskar ( and for a good reason !!) . IF anyone needed any evidence then pls watch Rishab Pants inngs today where he played the exact same shot that gavaskar was crying about

If i was a cricketer , played for Bharat, played a stupid shot to get out, and any of Gavaskar, Kapil Dev or Sachin slapped me right in the face for it, I will just say sorry and never play that shot again. Unfortunately the era of students like Eklavya is long gone. There is no guru like Dronacharya either

Disagree. He calls it as it is.

Gavaskar is a well-respected figure. He was spot on about Pant in Melbourne. That was indeed a stupid shot given the match situation.

Pant batted well today although not all of his shots came from the middle of the bat. Got out to a nothing ball from Cummins. Could have easily left it alone.

Youngster generation has no respect for orders. They are too arrogant and missing out on lessons of the past.

Sunny makes one comment and they are resort to name calling our legend. He is the same Sunny who faced down fearsome West Indies.

I think somebody has to give a wake-up call to the Pakistan side and who else is better than Sunil in the current situation? Pant got going after he was called stupid. maybe Paksitan batters also come to their senses.

What exactly is the role of a mentor, be it Gavaskar, Richards or indeed any other former great ?

Free money. Perfect for Gavaskar, the only one from his generation who has made so much money despite giving nothing back to the game (commentary doesn't count). eg: Shastri was coach, Srikanth was selector, Gavaskar has only done commentary.

Also, the mentor position is good for IPL teams where they appoint people too 'big' to be just a coach. eg: Sachin for Mumbai.

Age is catching up with him. He's not even suitable for commentary anymore. He lost his calm and composure during the BGT commentary, shouting 'stupid stupid stupid' for Pant.

Pakistan has lot of Gavaskar prototype for mentoring , sorry not suited for the job

The likes of Gavaskaras and Akrams of the world enjoy the comforts and rewards of commentating rather than face the grind and blame of actual man management.

India is practical, Pakistan lives off emotions

I genuinely feel Gavaskar, Wasim and a few blokes who have spent a lot of time on sports channels for the last many many years need to take a long break from cricket.

Gavaskar was one of the greatest batsmen to have played the game, but as an individual he's shallow, he's petty and he's super greedy. The same line could be used for Sehwag as well.

They give sermons all day about seniors respectfully resigning and giving youngsters a chance, wonder when would they apply the same concept to commentary box. I watch cricket on mute when Gavaskar is in the commentary box.

I would rather loss matches than have an indian in the Pakistani dressing room.

Indians can never be unbiased due to their blind nationalism. So you cant expect them to be geniunely helping you when its a match against india.

Plus remember when Abhinandan was battered by Pakistan, the india owned companies during the psl ran away creating more issues. Same would be done by any indian personality we give a job to.

Gavaskar first has to accept a PCB job.

Those stupid stupid stupid remarks will not end at 3 times and in 3 months he’ll be left with no hair to dye.

I don't expect an Indian person being in a Pakistani coaching set up. Will their ego allow it? :inti

Usual suspects spewing hatred and shitting everywhere. Nothing unexpected.

Better than Viv Richards type "Pakistan has great talent and u da best" type mentoring
Viv was a big believer in backing his players in public - that is consistent with that mentality. In his playing days, he was tough on players in the dressing room.

Granted, he did come across as a bit of a cheerleader, but that was his role at the time, if he was given a more serious role and the power to go with it, believe me most of these players would even be in the team.
