Cricket legend Sunny Gavaskar being the first to point it out.

Afterwards fans also took to social media to express their disappointment with CA.

500 Australian Dollars were given as MOTM and MOTS to Chahal and Dhoni. That is INR 35000. It’s peanuts.

Also no cash reward for the winning team.

CA needs to do better.

Were they different for the Australians? The MOM awards that is. If not, Indians are being ridiculously petty.

India beat Australia 2-1 for their maiden bilateral ODI series triumph Down Under.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at hosts Australia for not honouring the Indian team with any cash award after its historic ODI series triumph, saying the players deserve a share of the revenue they generate.

India beat Australia 2-1 for their maiden bilateral ODI series triumph Down Under.

Man-of-the-match Yuzvendra Chahal and Man-of-the-series M.S. Dhoni were given $500 each for their performances in the post-match presentation. The players donated their prize money to a charity.

The team was presented just the winners’ trophy by former batsman Adam Gilchrist. Gavaskar lambasted the hosts for not handing out any cash awards.

“What is $500 and it’s a pity that the team has got only a trophy. They (organisers) earn so much money through broadcast rights. Why can’t they give good prize money to the players? After all, players are the sole reason for the sport getting huge money (from sponsors),” Gavaskar said on ‘Sony Six’.

“Look at the prize money being given away at the Wimbledon (Championships). It’s phenomenal. The players are key in generating money, so they must be rewarded handsomely,” he added.

At the 2018 Wimbledon Championships, even those who exited in the first round pocketed close to ₹36 lakh while the singles winners got richer by ₹21 crore (approx).

The low prize money aside, India enjoyed their most successful tour of Australia, winning both the Test and ODI series 2-1 and drawing the Twenty20 series 1-1.

No you are being naive and cowardly.

How can Indian players speak on behalf of the Aussies? If Aussie players are happy with even 100 AUD good for them but Indian players and analysts can only speak for themselves and they make a valid point.

The bird and broadcasters make so much money from these players but humiliate them by paying a man of the series only 500 AUD.

That’s ridiculous. Why should a super star and a legend like Dhoni even bother going to the post match ceremony if he’s going to be humiliated like that. Waste a lot of time m, give a lot of these corporate guys photos and handshakes so they can put on their social media pages and office walls later when he’s being paid nothing.

There is press conference for giving free talk to media as per protocol but if prize money is a joke then players should be well within their rights to refuse to attend them.

BCCI should have award something had Aussies won a test/odi series in India

CA sent Indian cricketers empty handed with just MOS award and trophy.
Had Aus won a series in India, then BCCI would have appreciated that and declared individual awards to each player of the winning team.
Thoughts?

There is always a team reward.

Cricket Australia has been disgraceful on this tour.

Cowardly? Where courage come from in all this? Or do you just throw in the first insult you can think of?

CA has no obligation to 'honor' the visiting team for a series win. The winning teams own board can do that if they please.

If the cash awards are consistent across both teams, there's no point in cribbing about it.

Also, it's quite sad to see that you think a large amount of money equals respect and the opposite humiliation. I hope the cricketers themselves aren't as petty.

I'd say they would've declared a national holiday!

ECB and CA is one of the most smartest cricket board.Bcci is cash cow and they have included them in big 3 due to huge amount of money they generate .No body knows what the future hold but hopefully bcci is aware of them

What do you mean disgraceful? Don't you know they have introduced to the world "elite honesty"?

I am thankful to CA for introducing elite honesty to world cricket but they should also respect cricketers with decent cash rewards. Dhoni’s a brand worth millions. Asking him to come downstairs to have photos and handshakes with corporates for 500 AUD is an insult.

Did you not know that elite honesty means that they get to grab all the money they can?

Rs 35000 for a MOTS is disgraceful. I remember back in 1990 and early 2000, MOTS would get cash rewards and a bike or a car.
Dhoni ko ek TVS start city hi de dete.

Dhoni can’t even buy a OnePlus 6T with that money.

500 dollars vs 5000 dollars doesnt mean squat for the Indian millionaires. Gavaskar is trying to save face after being humiliated by Shasty and Kohli. Top tier Indian players make more money in a month than the combined amount of many opposition teams in a year.

Jhye Richardson was MoM after the 1st game.

He got a bat grip and a pair of shoelaces lol.

I think even the $500 goes to a charity of CA's choice. Don't think the players are too fussed about it though.

But even before Gavaskar, Michael Clarke had brought it up and said it was embarrassing as an Australian to see this from his board. He even drew a comparison with India saying, in India they give you a bike or sometimes a car and here we're giving them shoelaces :))

INR 1,00,000 cash rewards during IPL.

and there are multiple awards. Much better appreciation of such wonderful talent at display.

CA should really learn from IPL.

Shaw grabbed two cash awards today:-
Game changer of the day - INR 1,00,000
Player of the match - INR 1,00,000

Russel won stylish player of the match - INR 1,00,000
