While commentating tonight during India-West Indies T20.

Gavaskar claimed that in matches abroad a lot of Indian fans travel and applause when India is playing well thereby creating he impression that the home fans are quite sporty.

He thinks pin drop silence isn’t an Indian phenomena. It’s like there everywhere. Just that Indian fans in the crowd create an illusion.

Do you agree with him?

Our fans are really worse and even Bangla ones.

Haven't seen Pak fans as they don't play at home.

The best crowds are from Eng, NZ and Aus.

Pak fans were very good during 2004 and 2006 India's tour of Pakistan. However crowd from Chennai in India is still the best in Asia. They know their game and appreciate good cricket. Can't say the same for fans in Kolkata though. :inti

Proud of my Chennai. Was talking about India as a whole.

Chennai crowd is very generous when it comes to applauding visitors. Apart from that Indian crowds are biased no doubt, nowhere near SENA, WI, Lanka crowds.

Exactly. Apart from Chennai rest of the indian crowds look the same. Still remember a pin drop silence from Mumbai crowd when Flintoff won them the match before the famous Natwest Trophy. :misbah

I don't understand why people are expected to cheer for the opposition when the team they support is losing. Sure, you should applaud quality cricket, but it is hard to do that right when your team is about to lose.

Nothing wrong with it.

Lanka and WI fans just party and cheer everything mostly. One wouldn't know which side they were rooting for at most times.

It's different when your team is about to lose but with even 190 odd on the board I have yet to hear a cheer for even one boundary so far. The match is playing in the bg and every time there is a sudden silence I know a boundary has been stuck.

Pakistani crowds always cheer the good performances, not matter the opposition.
The two worst ones are India and BD overall that I have noticed.

And i hate to admit the “pakistani” supporters in UK have been pretty bad as well in terms of overall behaviour.
