Pivotal moments I feel for the Test careers of Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq.

In addition a key Test for Wahab Riaz, who's career has not hit the dizzy heights many thought it would.

Personally think YK and MuH are finished and should be disposed by the selectors post this Test.

Wahab is a rubbish bowler and has been for a long time, yet he keeps getting selected.

it does not matter. The legacy is tainted.

I only hope Baber Azam scores a big hundred.

Whatever happens the fact is that YK hasn't done enough to become an ATG.

Babar Sami Misbah Younus Wahab are all in line for a sack if they do not perform. Although I feel Misbah and Younis should go regardless of the results in this test.

Funny how posters dont lift a finger on sarfraz

Yes - Babar, Sami, Amir are walking on thin ice for sure, any time it may break for them. On top of that, Sarfy is not the best WK, also struggling with bat & Asghar might finish his Test career without ever playing; while Sohail might have played his last match for PAK - his strongest suit was ODI, for which he isn't called, therefore not sure when he is going to play for PAK again.

Misbah is like Vishma - he is given the blessings of choosing time of his death by himself, therefore, he might try to win the Series in AUS in 2019; YK'll play till WI comes back to PAK, if he needs that many Tests to reach 10K; Wahab has got the biggest lobby - who, whom, how I don't know - but he has survived the 2010 inquiry & after hitting ODI hundred, still has been selected for ODI series & he'll go to WI as well. Rahat enjoys almost same status - now called for ODI & he might play in T20 as well.

Azhar, Yasir, Asad are performing; therefore they are safe, while Sharjeel, Imran & Nawaz was never 1st choice, therefore not much loss for them.

I think, in WI we'll see MoHa, Zulfi, Ajmal back in the team for Sami, Asghar & Nawaz - may be Tanvir & Irfan as well for ODI ............. and KAkmal.

Hope none of Misbah and Younis will score some meaningless 40-50 runs and then find an excuse to prolong the torture we have been through their failed batting and Misbah's negative and defensive captaincy. Hope both will fail ( for the sake of Pak cricket ) and will find no moral reason to carry one, enough.

Hope Babar will score, too good a player to be wasted, needs some luck.

Sami, if sores big, fine then, otherwise time to bring Shehzad back or give Imam-ul-Haq a go in WI.

No man.

YK and Misbah can play until they want to. They're seniors and are legends remember.

Misbah can play till 2018 or even longer, he has the permission now.

Misbah will be gone after this game. Younis, Wahab, Rahat,Imran,Sohail, and Sami could be in trouble.

MoHa is still a better LOI player I feel and I think he has something to offer. He is still a valuable option.

Probably Misbah's last game. :misbah3

YK probably won't retire until he gets 10K. :yk3

Shouldn't be Wahab's last game. :wahab2

SK's Test career should be over. :sk

Could be a make or break for Rahat if he plays. :rahat1

Really should've been focus on us trying to make it 1-1. A bad day 5 in Melbourne means that it has come down to this. Very sad.

If he bowls well & bats better than Mian - 2 identical player can't be part of the team 29 months before next WC & both in odd half of 30s. It's either of them - at the moment Malik is better; if you don't factor Khan's scouting policy, by the next WC, PAK will be stuck with a team of official average age of 35.

He's been much worse this year in terms of batting in tests (in LOI he's improved surprisingly), and his keeping is still poor, but he's still the best we have, there's little point. And his batting in these sort of conditions is still better than the likes of Kamran who was rubbish in these conditons.

Though because of his decline in test form, feel a bit uncomfortable giving him test captaincy when Misbah retires. Especially would rather he focus on improve his glovework in tests which has been a significant problem for us in tests.

I feel they both will be in the squad and probably play too as I feel not many can keep them out of the team..may be Umar Akmal. Nawaz is not good enough to keep either of two out. He is mediocre at best. Immad still early to say but he also looks someone who can bat decent and bowl tidy overs. Hafeez and Malik I feel can find their place as a specilialist batsmen especially when we have likes of Asad and Rizwan in the squad. Only Umar Akmal may be threat to them otherwise they can play the 2019 world cup safely.

If we draw at MCG then we will lost the series 1-0 at best now at best we will lost the series 2-0 because the sydney test is almost gone....

Nothing is goning to happen.
Misbah & YK careers are near to end anyway. YK ll stay til he complete his 10k runs .
other players, we ll keep on rotating for next few years.

No it won't be. We need to realize that we don't have any better options. People like to think that they have much better players in domestic cricket who are waiting for their opportunities are either misinformed or don't want to accept that our talent has dried up and we are down to the bare bones.

Almost every hyped domestic player like Sadaf, Fakhar, Ghulam etc. will be exposed once we bring them to international cricket. The gulf between our domestic cricket and international cricket is astronomical. It is the only explanation for a joke like Imran succeeding in domestic cricket. In other competitive nations, he won't get past club cricket.

There is a reason why rubbish bowlers like Wahab and Rahat have been playing for years and the massively overrated Amir has walked back into the team after 5 years.

Misbah was going to retire after this series anyway, but all the other players will continue to be selected.

Hope Pakistan shows some character.. would be difficult to win after loosing a toss but should at least try to settle with honorable draw

Younis - Will play at least the West Indies test series and may plan on further is he does well in that series

Misbah - Will retire after Australia test series

Other than the two, only fast bowlers will be fretting about their places for WI tests. Imran, Sohail and maybe Rahat are in the firing line. Rahat maybe because he was kept in the ODI squad indicating management still likes him.

No other players will or should be dropped. Sami needs more chances in comparatively easy series and Babar has been marked by everyone as a future potential test player. Azhar, Asad and Sarfaraz have had a decent series. Amir and Wahab won't be dropped, at least for now if you are dropping other pacers as you can't have 5 new fast bowlers. Yasir will be persisted with in WI. Rizwan, Sharjeel and Asghar won't be dropped without proper chances.
