Talent Spotter : Shadab Khan

Good. It needs 3-4 years to develop and mature but he has got the ingredients. Thank fully he can time the ball and play conventional cricketing shots through the off side against fast medium bowling.

Having said that if he bats below number 7 than his batting will be destroyed and he will become a leg side hoicker.

This is exactly what we are doing. If we don’t bat him at proper number his batting will be destroyed and than we will say He was never a batsman, never an allrounder and it was all PP BRIGADE hype.

He played at 10 today which is ridiculous. I believe he has a lot of potential as a batsmen too should be batting at 6 and when Malik and hafeez say good bye soon he should bat in the top 5. I agree with you we are already doing our best to destroy him.

He bowled too short today and was punished.

He will learn and will only get better.

This is the reason why he shouldn't be picked for the Test team yet.

true thats what i fear now. really hope they dont destory his batting.

He is only 18. At this age he needs to be playing conventional cricket book shots which he displayed during his century against Zim with proper timing and bat flow. This way with few years that becomes your muscle memory and you get better at your craft.

But if you come at number 8,9,10 than you play Ramp shots, slog sweeps and attemp midwicket sixes. Six or a four is your aim. This way your technique, balance, timing all gets destroyed.

We had won the series already so Sarfraz should have sent Shadab at number 7 and said Go Beta, swim.

But NO.

Well said. Hope someone from the management is reading your post. :(

A bad day at the office. Needs to learn from this. In the next game I think he should be give a chance with the bat.

Well said. Major blunder by captain and coach and TWICE IN A ROW.

Mashallah, has been found out in only his 3rd game.

At the age of only 18 He just started with 7 wickets in his first two matches and those wickets were taken with conventional leggie gyle (pollard's stump) aswell as bamboozling the batsman with matured wonderfully disguised googlies.

Give the young man a break if he fails in few matches. Rather than giving sweeping statements " Has been Found Out "

Leg Spin is the most difficult Art of Cricket to Master. Even the best Leg Spinner of Cricket matured and developed Control in his late twenties. It takes a leggie to bowl thousands and thousands of deliveries to develop control over his length otherwise they (leggies) always have tendancy to drop the deliveries short (unintensionally) and get pulled or cut of the backfoot.

Shadab has shown enough of skill, flare and potential at the age of 18 in both PSL and Int Cricket and He is a longterm Prospect possibly 15 plus years of International Cricket InshaAllah if he remains commited, keeps on putting hard work, stay grounded and healthy.

Stuart Broad's International Career should have been over after he got hit for 6 sixes in an Over. He later became World number 1 Test Bowler.

Today's best Allrounder got hit for 6 sixes in an Over to Lose WT20 for England.

This is Part and Parcel of Cricket if You have played Hard Ball Cricket at a considerable level than you will be knowing it.

Note: Please don't mind my comment. Nothing Personal.

Bowled too flat today.

Looks afraid to flight the ball once the batsman start to go after him.

Give the kid a break. You are expecting an 18 year old to perform in every match?
It takes time for leggies to develop.

Invest in Shadab. He has potential to become the best all rounder in the world. Quality bowler. Competent batsman. Excellent fielder. Plus a sharp head at just 18. You dont find such players every day.

Stop hyping him.

He isn't a quality bowler just yet; I would wait before making such outrageous statements.

Well I have always hyped him as a potential superstar as all rounder. Bowling + Batting + Fielding.
He has troubled few v.good players of spin in psl so yeah i will call him a quality bowler.
No point in discussing on forums if we only appreciate players when they perform for years. "Ohh Ponting was great". Whats the interesting part in it? Everyone know it.

Whats ur definition of quality btw?

During the first two games "Shadab is king amongst spinners and the second coming of Shane Warne, all praise be to his excellence; get him in the test team immediately and send Yasir Shah back to Swabi so he can play cricket with the local goat herders"

After the defeat today "My word, why did this guy pursue cricket? he is absolutely terrible! my grandad's surgically repaired hip has more talent then Shadab Khan! he should go back to playing cricket with school kids in Minawali"

Quality being the display of excellence in something.

Shadab has displayed signs of potential but does that mean we start calling him a superstar? Potential super star- yes, super star- no.

I can see this going down the Amir route.

I said 'potential superstar'. Of course it won't necessarily happen.
Sometimes you do have a 'WOW' feeling when you see someone. Thats why Deano and Wasim also looked at each other and said that this boy is 'Pure Gold'.

It remains to be seen whether he can live up to those ridiculously high expectations.

I'm intrigued to see how he fares in the ODI as he won't be up against as many hacks.

He lacks revolutions which is not going to change. His potential as a batsman is greater.

Unfortunately he is batting below Wahab and Tanvir.

We may get to see more of his batting side in ODIs. But needs to bat up the order in Top6.

In his third over, Lewis hit a six of a fuller delivery. Next ball, he bowled short and got smashed again.

In his fourth over, Lewis hit a six of a fuller delivery. Next ball, he bowled full again and got his wicket.

Give this guy some time. He is there to learn and has got the right attitude towards the game.

He is a fine prospect for limited overs cricket. However, to succeed in tests, he should have weapons to deceive the batsman in flight. For that he needs to do two things

-) Develop some drift and dip. He can do this by giving the ball more air and revs.

-) Develop a deceptive backspin delivery, be it slider or flipper.

His game intelligence and composure can be highlighted by the fact that he didn’t go for another big shot after hitting the six.

What a find for Pakistan.

Special player. It was clear to see the 1st time I saw him in the PSL. Glad he's been fast tracked into the national side , it will improve him further.

He is a contender, but I highly doubt that he will be given the armband. Babar is much more likely to be the captain after Sarfraz.

Does Babar come across as the captain type to you? To me he doesn’t seem to have the personality/authority of a captain.

High quality batsman, should be batting in the top 7 at all times- ideally six.

Glad to see the Original post
Siddiq Akbar cricket club Rawalpindi
Some of the unsung heroes of our system, where connected people are preferred over more talented.
Did'nt know Muhammad Nawaz was one of the people who encouraged Shadab Khan and brought this amazing cricketer to limelight at the right time.

Nawaz and Shady played for the same club in Pindi.. Nawaz sometimes used to say to Shady that you dont need to dive so much on these 'pathereelay' grounds. But Shadab loved his fielding and you now see the fruits.

Interested to know how you know this.

On topic, Shadab is such a talent. He is a genuine all-rounder and he has been blessed with brains and athleticism.

A genuine all-round cricketer.

I watched an interview of Shady where he said that. Its on youtube. One of his oldest interviews.

Shadab is regressing. His batting performances in white ball cricket are non-existent.

In ODIs against top teams, he averages 24 at a pitiful SR with the bat, and 38 with the ball. Today we see even his T20 record taking a hit.

His stats are inflated by SL and WI bashing. This is one effect of fast-tracking players with such little domestic experience. He needs to go back and develop his bowling - he seems to give one long hop per over.

We cannot rely on the Imad and Shadab combination in ODIs to win matches against top teams.

I could be wrong but it might the extra pounds he’s put on (in muscles). He’s gotten bigger than before and I think he’s lost his rhythm. He’s staying fit and all but I wonder if he hasn’t gotten used to bowling with his heavier body.

I was fooled by his minnow bashing. Pakistan is a mid-table team that produces mid-table talent. One should always wait to see how our young players fare against quality opposition before endorsing them.

Hopefully I won't make this mistake again.
