After his reappointment as India’s head coach, Ravi Shastri is expected to get a hike on his remuneration. As per a report by Mumbai Mirror, CTC of the head coach will have a 20 per cent increase. This will take his annual package to somewhere between Rs 9.5 crore and Rs 10 crore. In his previous contract, he had been drawing about Rs 8 crore.

Also, the support staff will be getting a hike - Bharat Arun, who was retained as the bowling coach, is expected to get about Rs 3.5 crore, and this will be the same as what fielding coach R Sridhar is expected to draw. Vikram Rathour, the man who replaced Sanjay Bangar as the batting coach, will be starting from somewhere between Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 3 crore. All these new contracts would be into effect from September 1.

Insane amount of money being paid. They are not worth it.

Justin langer gets $500k and Bharat Arun will get the same.

This is unjustified waste of money.

Lol Indian Support staff is paid more than Misbah.

Shocking disparity in pay for players, coaches between India and Pakistan. Big reason why India has gone so far ahead of Pakistan in the last 20 years while our nation silently let's the PPP bleed the country dry with the Fake bank accounts scandal and the PML N via the fake TT scandal

Way too much money for basically doing coaching drills. Worst, the coach is responsible for WC 2019 Loss as he never addressed the middle order issue.

Terrible waste of money.

Indian support staff will be paid 2X of Misbah i guess due to exchange rate being 1 INR = 2.2 PKR, it sometimes gets confusing as both the countries use rupees in news articles.

Terrible..without winning the cup that too..
This is like getting increase in salary just coz inflation (which is low) without improvements in performance.

Ravi has expensive habits! Nothing below blue label i guess. All thanks to Kaptaan saab.

He can justify it with couple of trophies as well.

These are way above their ROI. The salary should include performance linked variables. Else, we will always be satisfied with a semifinal berth in world events, considering the selection committees and other important BCCI wings are mostly headed by below average sub-standard cricketers.

Dhoni has made so much money in his cricketing career that he wants to venture into film production after his career is over. No Indian Cricketer can dream of struggling in this sport, and no parent is going to stop their kid from pursuing cricket as a career in India

and no parent is going to stop their kid from pursuing cricket as a career in India
Not every kid becomes successful. Not every kid gets an IPL contract. Not every Indian parent thinks a career in cricket is worth it.

I am sure not everyone will think they can make a career out of cricket, but if a kid has talent and shows sign at early age parents can now guide the kid in choosing cricket as a career. In 70's-90's cricket in Tamil Nadu was a bramin sport and only the rich could dream of allowing their children to choose cricket as a career.

Even in 2000s it was not a rich sport but Brahmin oriented thanks to Srikanth!

So glad Washinton Sundar is making it..

Sorry I meant kids with decent talent. The amount of money on offer in Indian Cricket is now worth taking the risk

The money being paid to Shashtri is just about what a CEO of a medium sized firm in India gets. Considering the billions of dollars riding on The Indian team’s performance, money paid to head coach is just about right; probably less than what the role deserves.

There’s no comparison needed with Misbah! Both are products of very different economies. Misbah probably gets paid more than Afghan or Bangla coach.

Well anyone who can coach Ishant Sharma to bowl like in recent times, deserves that kinda money.
And Langer has lost to India at home and crashed out of WC. And his team is still mediocre if you take Smith out of it. So cant say he is doing a great job.

Ravi Shastri and support staff once again show why they are worth so much, what do you say Mamoon is Ravi Shastri worth 10 Crore INR/ 21.50 crores PKR per year?

Ultimately it comes down to success. If down the line kiwis beat you in test final and you fail to win the world t20 at home then they don't justify it.

wow..is this retention money or what? Are they worried that Shastri will be recruited elsewhere?

Just realised...these guys are probably only employees who got any sort of increment / Bonus since Covid-19 :D

That is too much money for a coach like Ravi Shastri. He is overpaid and has nothing to show in LOI's as far as trophies are concerned. :inti

But seriously, BCCI must have long term plans for these guys otherwise wouldn't have flashed this increment. Seems like there will be a beeline of experts, coaches and assistant coaches of every kind interested in securing a contract

Thank God, BCCI is looking at test performances and hence the hike in salary. Who cares about ODIs or T20s if a team is doing well in tests.

Of course. He is a genius manager. The perfect foil to Kohli.

Only people who deserve salary rise are the Indian curators (excavation experts)

Shastri has done a phenomenal job, reckon even some of his detractors are slowly coming around to that realization.

Agreed. How many coaches from subcontinent have achievement of test series win in AUS? This guy has back to back test series wins in AUS as a coach.

Bharat Arun has shown results, he is not a big name but has done his job well. Indian bowling is good for all conditions now.
